Welcome to the madness B) To be quite honest, in yr place I wouldn't buy anything else right now...Poser contains enough figures for you to get the hang of the prog, & there's like zillions of free addons ya can collect. It'd be a shame fer ya to go & blow yr next 4 car payments on V3/ M3/ wardrobes fer them/ etc oly to discover ya really don' care fer the prog. Once ya decide ya really do like it, then sure, go fer V3 & M3 & accessories. As fer P5...it's a judgement call. The great ting 'bout P4 is it's shallow learnin' curve; purdy much anybody can jump in w/ both feet & make a picture. P5 has a lot more bells & whistles, therefore a steeper learnin' curve, & I doubt anyone really uses all of 'em regularly (I know I don't).Fer now as a newbie, I'd suggest just gettin' comfortable w/ what ya have 1st, & worry 'bout P5 later (especially w/ P6 loomin' over the horizon ;-)

RSR has nuttin' to do w/ saving poses. If it din't work, it would be because A) when ya saved ya didn' select "Save Morph Targets", B) ya tried to put it on V3 Base, which doesn't take morphs, or C) Ya din't inject the morfs into the new V3 yr applyin' the pose to. Or sumpin'

Check the tex in the Mat room...if it is set to "Image Mapped; Clamped" this is gonna happen if the tex is smaller than the uvs template. Switch it to "tiled" if it sez clamped

/RSR files are the thumbnails that show up in yr library in P4...they get created automatically when you save a figure/ prop/ pose/ etc in the Library (the pop out list @ the right). Pro Pack & P5 users don' need 'em, as those progs use .png thumbs which are smaller & widely supported by image viewin' sofware. If ya want to/ need to make custom .rsr thumbs, I believe P3DO Explorer (a free app) does that, as well as RSR Converter (also free....just search the FreeStuff section here)
