Thread: Regarding the Renda Figure from RPublishing | Forum: Community Center
"Maybe more websites should encourage pre-finished Pics that show a Characters Building thru the different stages of its Creation... " That would blow any possibility of a big, hyped release and allow competitors to plan counter-moves. But then, could that be any worse than this scenario? When I first saw Renda I thought she was flawed. And expensive. I didn't realise the was a flawed expensive copy of V3. And now she's a flawed expensive copy of V3 with a tarnished reputation. That's not an ideal position. I think her short life is over, same goes for any add-ons for her.

"pinpus Oh, it's an Australian native animal. It's kinda like a platypus, but with pointy bits like a porcupine. " Sorry to resurrect this bit of the thread so late in the day, but I thought it was hilarious. Australia really does have a native animal that's kinda like a platypus, but with pointy bits like a .... ok, like a hedgehog. But it's close. LOL And as for the rest of this thread, ... Sheesh!!! Here's the part I don't get: "These empty channel names are in the process of being renamed to PBMCC_xx." If the cr2 wasn't lifted directly from V3 (and munged up a bit until it differed sufficiently), and if these tell-tale channels were intentionally written into Renda's cr2 for future use, then why the midnight scramble to rename them? It's like vaccuming your car at 3:00AM and saying "no honestly, I wasn't anywhere near the scene of the crime"Thread: Pakled suggested I post this here too. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"As you can tell, from the wire, the playing field was already bevelled ...." Aah! so that's where the expression "to bevel the playing field" comes from eh? ;o)

Try this thread (link) It's not a question of how many polys but rather where you place the edges. Take a look at the image I posted in that linked thread. Placing some additional edges near the hard edges will do the trick, in Wings you select the hard edges and pick 'extrude' (zero distance). This will add the extra edges, then hit + or minus to move them to where you want them. It you just keep subdividing the original mesh you'll eventually get to a point where the bubbling stops but only because of that one extra edge near your hard corner - all the other edges will be superfluous.Thread: Where to buy this bike? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
That's an amazing collection of really nice models! I laughed out loud when I saw the emergency nose bleed stopper (;8= <--- man wearing emergency nose bleed stopper

"but the sort of results you can get by manuually setting up your mats can be atleast as good if not better" Yep, I'd like to see an example of this too LOL, and then I'd like to know how long it took to set up, compared with a few clicks for applying face_off's kits. Sure, you can make your own plywood by first cutting down a tree..., or you could buy a sheet of plywood and have time to sit under the tree.
Thread: Poser 6 stuff | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There was a thread about this a few weeks ago, a bunch of people posted their desktop/monitor layouts. I think most were stretching across both. A search for 'dual monitors' should turn it up. On the obj export: yes. OGL preview is pretty good, particularly with transparent stuff like hair. It actually looks like hair in preview now. Dunno about a single review but you can find dozens of user impressions here, there's a new P6 thread started about every 2 days. Generally the people who are most critical of P6 are the ones who haven't bought it yet.
Thread: Koz | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ok, I've just tried it, that looks like a bug. That 'short' style MAT/MOR pose is supposed to change the transmap from kozlong_tr.jpg to kozlong_extratr.jpg and it doesn't. It is loading the second map into Poser6 (it is there in the 'recently used textures' list) but it is not actually adding it as the new transmap. If you change transmaps yourself the hair renders correctly. The other MAT poses for changing texture colour (blonde, black etc) work correctly in P6, but that transmap isn't changing. And that transmap changes correctly in P4.

In the render itself or just in the preview? Could be because of different display of transparent stuff in P6 preview (openGL).

I think P6 is a vast improvement over P4 in the sense that it has a much better toolset. It makes it possible for a mediocre craftsman like myself to make much, much better images with it (and ultimately that's what this game is all about). I would never go back to P4 and if I didn't have P6 yet I would get it without delay. But that's not to say that it doesn't irritate me to death at times. Like when half the dials overshoot and the others (in the material room) all work fine. I never tried P5 so I don't know how many fresh 'quirks' appeared there and got passed on to P6, and how many are fresh in 6. There are certainly improvements, like CL/E-F have discovered that mice actually have scrollwheels now-a-days and (would you believe?) a second button!! You get to right-click sometimes, it's quite a thrill! ;o) My pet hate (dating back to P3) is the absence of a select tool. It kills me that the default pointer is the move/translate tool which can mess up a scene so easily if you're not super-vigilant. So instead of selecting something right there in front of you in the scene you have to scroll miles down a list to get it. And, while I'm moaning, the other thing that riles me (also from P3 days) is the stupid camera controls. Everything in Poser is made more difficult by the fact that you can't easily get a camera pointed at (and zooming directly at, and orbiting around) a selection. If just ONE of the fancy additional cameras could do that I'd be a happy dolly-dresser. When Poser was young the only detailed things you could fiddle with were hands and faces, and so they got dedicated cameras, but we've moved along since then. Taking a close look at a shoe is absurdly difficult. There, I feel better now ;o)

If you have a new moBo it probably came with software that allows you to monitor temps and adjust fan speeds to suit. My fans are pretty much at idle when the CPU isn't busy but when I start a render the CPU temp climbs instantly and the fans all speed up accordingly (and become more audible). It's a big improvement over my old box which used to howl all the time, even when it wasn't doing anything.

I'd agree with the "best thing since conforming clothing" statement, I think it's absolutely awesome. Just for fun I was trying to make full body morphs for V2LoRes using it - it almost works (I just need to figure out how to retain the fingers). If I can get that part right then V2LoRes has all the morphs that V2 has. Pretty smooth!
