Good idea Esterau. It would not have worked in my case as I was adding an additional drive rather than moving to a new drive. I didn't want to rename the old drive that I was still using for other things. I now have 3 drives that I am working with. Working well for now though; with plenty of space on my 250 GB drive. I wouldn't recommend less than that for you poserholics that like to save your PZ3 scenes to revise later. Be sure to name the new drive something in the alphabet after the letter "J" as the newer computers with camera card drives come with drives already named from "A" through "I".
For Sandoppe, I didn't know you could upgrade to a USB 2.0. I have an additional USB 1.1 drive and it is too slow to do anything in Poser. Can't upgrade to USB 2 on my laptop without a lot of trouble and expense, the firewire is just as fast and I'm happy with that. I know it is pretty easy to add firewire to a desktop and not too expensive either.Heck, if you are a true addict and your computer is that old why not just buy a new computer? :)

Thread: Moving Poser to another drive | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
sandoppe, you are a genius! I Dragged my entire Poser 5 program back to my secondary hard drive. Then I moved Poser4/Runtime/Geometry back to the same drive but not inside Poser 5. (I have almost all of my stuff installed in the Poser4 runtime). When I click on any character in P3DO Explorer it tells where it will look for the geometry file. Everything works fine now. Even the PZ3s are opening fine. The only problem I see now is if I have to do a split install of new characters with the geometry on one drive and the textures on the firewire drive. Hmmmmm, I think I'll try to just put them all on the firewire drive and hope. Failing that I'll do the split install. Thanks again, Lance

Thanks for your help. CR Pro does a great job of correcting file referemces within the poser runtimes, but I have not figured out a way for it to correct the pz3s that are scenes stored in a separate file. Maybe I'll ask the maker of CR Pro if this can be done. In the meantime I can use P3do Explorer to help me find the location of the geometry files included in the pz3 scene files. Any other suggestions?

The objs are in the correct paths on the new drive but Poser is looking for them on the old drive I think. The address in the pz3 may point to the old drive. If I find the objs for Poser it seems to find the textures and everything else without difficulty.

Thanks for your input everyone, I'm more educated now but still undecided about purchasing SP3. I guess we have different opinions about what's beautiful in pixel girls just like we do about the real thing. Grey Cat has done a beautiful 5' 2" version of V3 on his site along with instructions on how to do it. He also has some very original and interesting faces. Take a look!
Thread: Rendering over background images in P5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for you help, I've solved the smooth polygon problem. But I have not used the materials room to add a picture before. I selected Object-background and then Material-background and then tried the various connections of the color wire to all the different options color, bump etc. I'm not sure where to connect it. The 2d image for my background shows in the Materials window but not in the pose window. What am I missing? Thanks for your help, I am new at this and don't personally know anyone to walk me through some of this.

Thanks, you guys are right. It is jpg artifact. Somehow my "Save as" settings were changed and I was saving as a low res jpg, I didn't notice because I never change those settings. Duh! Xantor, you are right, the rocks would be hard, but she was modelled after a real person who was jumping off 75 foot cliffs in Havasupai....a little rock probably wouldn't bother her. But if this were a final render she would have something under her, at least shadows if nothing else. Thanks everyone. Lance
Thread: Poser 5 bmps to BUMs | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I downloaded Correct Reference Pro but alas it says in the instructions that you should not take out the references to bum files if you are running P4 and P5 runtimes together in Poser 5. But I believe I will have some other uses for this utility. I just downloaded sr4 and the 3 secs time to ask for a file sounds great. I may be slower with 1.9XP and 1 gig ram. Thanks for your help.
Thread: Poser 5 bmps to BUMs | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks Skidlicious, I've tried waiting the 3 or more minutes for poser to tell me that it can't find the bum and then wait the next 2 minutes to load after I direct it to the jpg but that is a long wait for something that should happen instantly when the bum is available. Any other ideas? Does it take this long for everyone? I have a fast computer with 1GB of RAM, what takes it so long to find the bump file? Lance
Thread: Win Xp Pro and Poser 5 Trouble? | Forum: Poser Technical
I have XP Pro and P5, it doesn't crash but gives me out of memory problems with large renders, same problem with Poser 4. I'm staying with Poser 4 until they get all the bugs out of P 5.
Thread: "Insufficient disc space for current render" | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks Roger, I already have Poser and XP on different drives but defragging may help. Is anyone out there consistently successful at doing 3000 to 4000 pixel renders without getting the dreaded "insufficient " message?
