(( A: They're not "forcing" you to do anything. If you don't like their policy, you don't use their software. )) If you use Bryce 5.5, don't you have to have D/S installed in order for Bryce to work correctly? If so then yes they are forcing you to obey their policy in order to use software that you paid money for. But since I do not uses B5.5 I'm not sure if it will work without D/S installed. Yes I bought B 5.5, to buggy for me to uses. I have yet to finish a project in 5.5 without it crashing at some point.
Thread: Sun, Moon, Eyes, & Sunlight Intensity | Forum: Bryce
1, In Sky lab, enable sun/moon visible ( there are options for size, intensity etc... ) With sky palette active, hold Ctrl, Alt keys then double click on the sun tool. While still holding the keys click anywhere in the scene to place sun ( hold Ctrl, Shift, Alt to place the moon ) 2.Set the sun's light strength through color, shades of gray will lower the strength the sun produces without changing other sky property. 3. as already stated use the figure extra eye object to control the light it's receiving. ( If it's a figure without the extra eye object. simple duplicate the eye white object and scale it 0.01 Bryce units larger )
Thread: OT, Photoshop type plug-ins | Forum: Bryce
KPT 3 was included with Bryce 4, not sure about Bryce 5 or 5.5 (( does anyone know where to find the KPT filters )) I just bought KPT collection on Ebay for $42 It comes with all the filters from KPT 5, 6 and effects. I already have KPT 3, 5, and 6. But I could not find a version of KPT effects ( AKA, KPT 7 ) So I bought the collection to get the effects filters. KPT, was one of Metacreations software....I always said Coral got Bryce as a bonus when they bought the KPT series and Painter from Meta. There were no takers for Bryce when Meta sold out all their Programs

I have an uncle that lives 25 mile north of New Orleans and 2 cousins that live in New Orleans. They all got out before the Storm hit, My 2 cousins, houses are gone. My uncle has no idea about his home. But they are all ok including kids, dogs and cats. Their staying with other family members in Texas. I've come to the conclusion, that no matter where you live on the earth...there's some sort of natural disaster that can devastate your life. I thing mother earth is telling the people of the world to quit using fossil fuel....or maybe I'm just losing it....
Thread: Realistic Hair When Importing Poser figure to Bryce | Forum: Bryce
All texture maps for the hair need to be used, including transparency maps. Select the hair objects then add all the maps for the hair. I think Bryce 5.5 and D/S are suppose to load all maps, but I don't use them.

Thread: Bryce Content | Forum: Bryce
(( I only answer surveys if there is a free gift involved )) Yea me too!!!!! I also never buy content for Bryce...unless it's on sell for free... Yea for awhile there I was becoming a runtime junky....And this year I decided to start selling things I create. Hey something had to feed that runtime habit.
Thread: UK Computer Shopper gives away Bryce 4 | Forum: Bryce
Bryce 4 required you to have the installation CD in the drive the first time Bryce was launched. After that the CD was not needed.
Thread: Bryce is making me REALLY mad!!! =( | Forum: Bryce
This has been an ongoing problem since Coral B5. I have learned to keep a new never used library for ALL presets. Simple copy and paste the user libraries before ver using them. Then When I need a new library I copy/paste then rename it. I also use temporary libraries, when making products to broker. After the product is complete then I create a new library for distribution, and delete the temp libraries.
Thread: I got a new camera (slightly OT) :-) | Forum: Bryce
The E series are nice, I believe you can purchase accessories for them ( like high powered zoom lenses ). I have a Olympus C5OOO, ( 5.0 megapixel ) it has a 3X zoom ( with a digital boost ). It's ok for general photos, and I have made some texture using it. But it's zoom power is nowhere near my old cannon 35 Mil. Yea TIFF is the uncompressed image format for most digital cameras. you can also set the resolution, which comes in handy for larger prints. I also invested in a second memory card ( my wife gets photo crazy when it comes to the kids events ) The learning curve isn't to difficult for digital cameras, have fun.
Thread: moving an object in Bryce | Forum: Bryce
You can constrain manual movement to a selected axis by holding the X Y and Z keys. When using the arrow and page up/down keys, you can increase the distance by holding the shift key.
Thread: animation and timeline help | Forum: Bryce
Not sure what might be causing this...is this Bryce 5.5 ? Nothing like that has ever happen to me in B5. I find Bryce 5.5 is to unstable for me to use on a regular basis, so I still do most of my creating, rendering and testing in B5 Here's the answer to one question Need to delete all the keyframes in a project. Hold the Ctrl/Shift/Alt keys, then click on the delete keyframe button. A pop-up message will appear, and all the keyframes will be deleted when the message is exited. Warning this function is not reversible, once the first message pops-up, all keyframe will be deleted no matter how the message is exited.
Thread: Smoothing? | Forum: Bryce
Here's the way I understand smoothing in Bryce It's a method called Breaking Angles which tell the program at what degree of an angle light will cast a shadow when striking the loops of polygons which make up an imported object. Smoothing is away to control this breaking angle. When Smoothing is set to 90 degrees. It takes a 90 degree angle in the loop ( or group of loops ) to cast a shadow. If it is set to 45 it takes a 45 degree angle. Breaking angles and welding are two completely different functions. Welding is when polygons and/or loops have identical side by side edges ( the line that connects vertices ) Unwedded the side by side polygon/loop have separate edges. When welded the side by side polygon/loops share one edge When unwedded objects are imported into Bryce the breaking angle of the object is set to 0. Where welded objects are set to 90 degrees.
