Well thank you Mary. That wouldn't have occurred to me--to save as a Vue material. I'm assuming it will work with Vickie as well? Cheers, :) Mike

Crescent, Does the bump map cause Vue to crash for you? I've been guilty from time to time of forgetting to take it out, and Vue has crashed in the past. But then I was told that certain utilities (Norton Crash Guard) were actually making Vue crash. I turn off all my Norton programs before using Vue, and it rarely crashes anymore. Cheers, Mike

Crescent, Excellent summary, and yes, it works with Vickie, too. :) Actually, what you describe here is far more advanced than anything I've yet tried, with the exception of the eyeballs and lashes. Did you leave anything out? Well, I would have mentioned that you ought to have the textures that are in the .mtl file in the same folder as the .obj file, just to save the time of having to re-apply the texture to each and every individual body part once imported into Vue. Thank you for posting all this terrific information! :) Cheers, Mike

Mary Canary, I LOVE the panoramic renderer! My two humble pics in the Vue gallery were both done with a 75 degree setting. :) You used a 180 degree setting here? Or was it more than that? Cheers, Mike

Sacred, I've found that I don't always like the crystal clear clarity of some of my Vue renders, and I've sometimes rendered a completely final scene with complete anti-aliasing and then saved it as .bmp. Then I'll render just a preview at the same size and save it, as well. I don't know what painting programs you might have, but if you have something which allows you to blend the rough version in with the final version, you might be able to get something more to your liking. I use Painter 6, myself. It has this "clone" brush and it works by painting one image into another, and the opacity can be varied by either the opacity controls or a stylus. I'll see if I can quick come up with an example of what I'm talking about in just a bit. I agree with what Mary Canary said...very nice posing and subject matter. And composition, too. :) Cheers, Mike

That's pretty neat, Sacred. Did you use that underwater atmosphere or make your own? Good lighting, too. Cheers, Mike

Kate, I figure that's what we're talking about here. Who wants to go first? The only problem I can see is that some of those .vue files can get pretty large, making emailing them a problem for some. If it doesn't actually turn out to be a real collaborrative project, it would at least be cool to see your Halloween pics, so let's all try to come up with one or more. I'm going to try to come up with a simple and small (file-wise) starting point to see if anyone wants to take it over from there. If anyone else wants to beat me to it, by all means, go for it! Cheers, Mike PS I got E-on's Picture of the Day today, with one of my two pics in the gallery here. :) If anyone doesn't know about the Picture of the Day, at the E-on site, every day they pick on from those that have been sent to them. The very best get placed in their permanent gallery. More info can be found at www.e-onsoftware.com They have some truly awesome pictures there!

Sacred, Hi.... Is render farm like what bloodsong was talking about above? If so, I've never been involved in anything like that, and I think it sounds pretty neat. :) Halloween theme? It certainly fits in with the time. Speaking of which, we have the American Thanksgiving holiday coming up and then of course Christmas, so we have some pre-fabbed themes we could work off of. :) Well, I'd love to get a suggestion or two or twenty, but let's say yeah....a Halloween project. If a render farm project is where we pass files along from one to the other, that sounds really cool. :) I can't think now, though...too tired....I just got through with a 13 hour workday! Must have sleep...mmmmm...sleeeeeep...... G'nite all.... Cheers, Mike PS I'll have more to say in the morning....

Thank you, Sacred.... I really like this forum, and all the "regulars" here. :) I'm working on a few ideas to try to increase participation and to bring out the quiet ones....maybe some kind of project scheme or something... Anyone have any suggestions? Cheers, Mike

Sounds good to me... it also has quite a few dead links....at least it did last time I was there about a month or so ago, which is why I gave up...the ones I was really interested in couldn't be accessed. Cheers, Mike

Yeah Bill, you're right....gotta have some fun, don't we? How about you with your .45 there, slightly out of the scene (but we know it's you because we can see your shadow), ready to "hit" the first person or animal that even comes CLOSE to that poor little birdie?! ;) ................................................. Rynn, You know Vue's marble textures look pretty cool... I love them, and I was thinking a dark marble material might look really good in place of what you have, but whatever you do, how about posting this pic in the Vue gallery when it's done to your liking. I like it, and I'm sure others would, too. :) Cheers, Mike

Nice picture. :) How about maybe something in the foreground to hint at what might be on "our" side of the scene here? Maybe a tiled floor running perpendicular to the patio entrance with the lines of the tiles in perspective subtly pointing into the scene? But actually, I think if you just simply chopped off the bottom of it, right below the clay pots, it would make for a better picture....the lower part of it below the pots just seems a bit too dead. I like it otherwise, though...the colors are very cool and unified, and I can see a definite shift in the overall warmth of the picture from the background to the foreground without any drastic contrasts. The yellow of the bird offsets the violet of the flowers nicely. :) Cheers, Mike

Good job, Tin Man.... I looked at it, and I think that mist is pretty cool..and I love the color of everything...looks like you got the shadow problem solved. Cheers, Mike
