Hiya Laurie, I know what you mean about Bryce... I still haven't figured it out. But thanks to your's and bloodsong's suggestions, I'm getting a little closer to understanding the many many options for materials. :) Now I can go back and "fix" some of my better pics....good thing I saved the scene files! Cheers, Mike Now, if I only knew what to do with "functions"......LOL
Thread: My first Vue pic. | Forum: Vue
Martin, Nice picture! I can't find anything "wrong" with it, though, so I just wanted to say, "good job!" Cheers, Mike PS Maybe the mountains ought to be farther back, larger, and possibly shrouded in mist. Just a suggestion. :)
Thread: Attention All Vue Forum Visitors...! | Forum: Vue
Hi again! Another hellaciously busy day for me, but now it's over, thank God! Sorry I didn't write anything this morning, but I got up way too late and just had time to bolt out the door. Sounds like I'm being kidnapped. That's OK, just don't expect much ransom money. ;) Wow,I'm TIRED right now....usually I can come up with some quick quip, but it's hard to be funny when you're staring down the barrell of Bill's "overloaded" Smith & Wesson. Believe it or not, I've actually been thinking about this all day. :) Well, not ALL day, of course, but, you know, and it occurred to me that these forums are somwewhat self sufficient, and the moderator is only one of many members, but with the unique ability to , uhh, well...err., umm, MODERATE, I guess. The moderator is not obligated to make sure he/she answers all questions, but I most likely would try to find an answer to that which I don't already know, in order to be able to try to help, or at least to be able to do my fair share. :) I honestly couldn't possibly envision a scenario which could have the potential for learning better than having to seek out information in order to answer a question of someone's. But, I know that the "moderator" status is more than just that, but I really don't know all that would be required. As I said, I'm really busy, but not so busy that I couldn't spend at least two or so hours a day here, reading messages, writing replies, and doing whatever it is that moderators do otherwise. Shrug But first, I have a couple of demands: Bill, please put the safety on on that handgun, and for God's sake, please stop shaking! You could also feel free to point it at the wall, or something else! Second: I want to know what "d'Esprit" means! Does it have something to do with motion? I know a very little German; French is a mystery! Otherwise, I guess I say, I would be (oficially) interested in being considered. :) I've already stated my limitations, but that doesn't seem to matter so much. No matter what happpens, I would prefer to see that this forum is left in good, responsible, and most importantly, FRIENDLY hands! Well, I guess I'm saying, count me in, but only if you think I can hack it...ooops, poor choice of colloquiallisms...if I can HANDLE it, that is! :) Cheers, Mike PS I also posted this in the other thread, mostly so Bill (tesign) doesn't think I failed to reply to his quite funny "threat" of sorts. :P So, I have 5 points, but I also might be the first banned? Talk about irony! LOL So, I accept your nomination, and if elected, I promise lower taxes for all!* Well, I worked 14 hours today, and my "old lady" is asleep on the couch, so before I get too tired, I think I'm gonna go now, and squeak in a couple of hours of good quality Vue Time! After I see what else was said here today, that is... :) goodnight all. *offer to lower taxes will not be honored... I can't do anything about it!
Thread: *.vob* associations | Forum: Vue
Wow, that's , uhh, different! I have a DVD player too, and that's never happened. But,".vob" is a Vue "Object", right? Just as clicking on a Wavefront .OBJ file won't automatically open a 3D program though, unless you specifically tell your OS to do so, is that really surprising? You didn't mention your OS, though. I'm using Windows 98 SE, and I know with that you can specify file associations, if you want to. Cheers, Mike
Thread: palacial | Forum: Vue
Sacred, That's beautiful! :) I would possibly suggest some reflection on the table and a little less of a rough surface, but that's just an opinion; considering that the table appears to have a rough surface actually negates the possibilities for reflections. I would have raised the camera up some and pointed it down a bit, so the roses could be centered without obscuring the center plant. Hey! What about an un-level camera angle? Don't get me wrong, though.. it really is a gorgeous picture. :) Cheers, Mike
Thread: Attention All Vue Forum Visitors...! | Forum: Vue
Bloodsong, Had this offer been made about a year from now, I would volunteer, but, well, you know..... ;) I hope you find someone equally knowledgable, or someone as such steps up to the plate! Who's gonna answer my stupid questions now? Only kidding... everybody's been quite helpful. :) Sorry to hear you never got to ban anyone... I know THAT can be fun... I had to do it once on a very small e-group site I "own"...to a warez freak. I guess you finally made up your mind, eh? Salute! Mike
Thread: Bloodsong's Vue Free Stuff | Forum: Vue
bloodsong, I was just reading Steve's review of your Dragon Factory. Looks pretty cool! :) Cheers, Mike PS I don't think there's anything at all wrong with tooting your own horn from time to time, when you have a good reason...Dragon Factory looks like a good enough reason to me! :)
Thread: Terrains and Plastic | Forum: Vue
bloodsong, Thanks again.... I already knew about resizing the actual resolution of the terrain itself, but I hadn't noticed we can change the resolution of the texture, as well. While I was waiting for someone to answer this, I went and did the thing I really hate....yes, I read the manual! Well, so no one thinks I'm some kinda wimp or anything, I only casually glanced at it. ;) So, I guess I learned something, and one of those things has to do with the "trick" of piling terrain upon terain, with different textures, to get far more options than simple material mixing. :) Cool, yes, and I'm sure not the only way, but definitely a reasonable workaround. :) Cheers, Mike

Thread: Vue 3.1 and Windows ME | Forum: Vue
I'm running Win 98 SE, obviously with no Vue 3.1 problems, but I've had other non-Vue problems. I've been told to go to ME, and when I asked around if my programs would still work, people told me yeah, but stick with 98 for games. I mentioned Vue 3.1, and found several people who are using ME successfully with it. I myself haven't tried it yet, because I figure I'll give it a year or so for MS to work out the bugs, but as far as I've heard, it has no problems with Vue 3.1 You might want to email the tech people at E-Onsoft first though. They're very helpful and quick to respond. and they're quite interested in customer satisfaction. Cheers, Mike

Thread: I'm Sorry--OT/ Big-I.com | Forum: Vue
Thanks, Marge---feel free to quote me on anything. I "know" several of the people at Big-I, and I like the site design, and will definitely be happy to be there...once I can figger it out, that is! But, I'm not a troublemaker, and I hope my comments DO turn out to be of some use. :) Cheers, Mike
Thread: My "Asia2" P4 character in Free Stuff | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thank you , asmith and bantha. :) I've been playing around with her some, and I can't seem to re-create the "problem" I was told about, although there are a few things that kinda bother me about her which I hadn't noticed earlier, so due to your comments, I will leave her up there until I work out these small idiosyncrocies and then delete her and post an updated version. Thank you, the two of you, for your nice comments...I was really starting to wonder, though I've gotten quite a few emails from people saying they like her. But, as they say, you have to focus on fixing the problems; the good stuff can only get better. Cheers! Mike
Thread: I'm Sorry--OT/ Big-I.com | Forum: Vue
No, you see, that's the thing--I can't even GET to the new messages. All I CAN get to is the front page. shrug Oh well, at least I can find my way around HERE. But again, like I said everything on the left is just a bunch of pretty text and arrow/triangle thingies. Sure, they make this really cool little clicking sound when I mouse 'em, but I bet they're supposed to do more than that! I have IE 5.5... haven't tried it with Netscape yet, but as far as I know, IE handles more than Netscape, and I have all of everything enabled (even that de-bugging crap...not like I know what to do about it, but...). I'm not worried about malicious java users or anything like that, and I hate to miss out on all the cool stuff, so this is a continuous setting for me. This is the first major, non-personal website that I've found which refuses to do what it says it does. Am I going crazy? Never mind...don't answer that! Cheers, :) Mike
Thread: The Lookout | Forum: Vue
Neil, Nice picture. Wish I could help about the wave thing, but I don't know. I just wanted to say I like it in spite of it's flaws. Wish I could actually be helpful though. Cheers, Mike<<< Having fun
