Hi SSAfam1-
First off, the free hair you found should be placed in your Runtime/libraries/hair folder along with the RSR file. Most poser products now, whether free or for sale are zipped with the file hierarchy intact so that you can just unzip them into the correct folder. Once the hair is in the hair folder it should show up in your library palette under hair (or any subfolder that may have been created for the hair will be listed). To use the hair, select the figure that you wish to apply the hair to and click the check mark. If the hair was made for that particular figure it will parent automatically, if not, you may have to adjust the hair along the X, Y or Z trans and fiddle with the scaling. (Many times, there are fit files for the figure you're trying to use -- check free stuff areas).
As for the painted hair, once you've completed your render, painted hair is applied in postwork in Photoshop, PaintShop Pro or whichever paint program you use.

I have Alitia hair, great hairstyle though it's growing a little outdated. It could really use a handle to better control the tail but instead relies on morphs-- and not that many of them. It pre-dates multiple character support, so you'll have to fit it to other characters yourself. You might also be interested in Hand Maiden hair (also DAZ). It comes with fits for V1-3, S1 & S3 and Sara.

I have a wretched memory, but I seem to remember a guy with the screen name Sting?, but I think he was just the front for the actual artist(s). The read me on the Multisuit reads that PoserStyle was Thomas Hauge, William Whitney and David Renault, sorry I don't recall their screen names.

It was PoserStyle, AFAIK the site no longer exists.
Edited to add --
One of the multisuits may have been for V3 though I don't think so, the site mainly supported the second generation figures. I think there was only a couple of items for M3 and IIRC the multisuit wasn't one of them.
