REPOSTED TO CORRECT ERROR: Figures are posed in POSER, not Bryce. Sorry! Hi, Bones The few pix I've made so far are Bryce renders. Generally, I o Pose the figures in Poser (with relevant props) o Export one at a time to OBJs (with "their" props) o Import OBJs into Bryce o Add additional tex's with the select mesh option o Position things via the top and side views, aiming for a good view from one of the perspective cameras (director's view or the other side) o Add sky, lights etc. o Render (if you are doing post work, be sure to do a mask render as well) Hope it's helpful - have fun.

A quick-and-dirty solution is to parent the imported object to a prop (e.g. a ball) and rotate the prop. The prop can be deleted once the imp. object is in place (or set to invisible, if you plan handle the object again in the future). Have fun.

If you have Paint Shop Pro, you can try this method (idea from a photographer friend of mine): o "Steal" the thumbnail (RIGHT CLK - SAVE AS...)of the d/l o Open in PSP and write a brief description AND a file path on the image o Save to a well-chosen folder (see ideas in posts above) When you need something, just browse the thumbnail folder - the actual files can be kept as ZIPs. It's amazing how small a pic you need to jog your memory. Have fun.

Response from one more of the folks, Melanie. I first saw Poser in Computer Arts, too. Having a bit of traditional drawing/painting practice, I passed on P1 and 2, since even I could do better figures "by hand". P3, however, not only put my brushes into an early retirement, it also made me buy and learn Truespace and Bryce, for props and worlds for my figures. P4 happily made most of this "supporting work" unnecessary, so it was - almost - a dream come true. To me, the essential attraction of Poser is the openness of it: everyone can pitch in with the things (morphs, tex, props, figs) they like to do, and therefore do well, and the COMBINED use of all these "stock elements" can nevertheless produce quite personallized and unique works. I very much hope that the P5 team will make this strength even greater (i.e. better import/export and customization tools rather than modelling/rendering tools - why reinvent the wheel?).

I'll drink to that (even if it's just coffee at the moment). Winslow's "Thanks for a home and a place to grow" ought to be made the title of an entry on the R'osity front page (Jack....). So, from a new, but dedicated fan, to everyone on the R'osity, most especially the staff, I'd like to quote Wellington's famous words at the turning point of the Waterloo battle: "Damn it - in for a penny, in for a pound; forward all over the line!"

Hi, Ikyoto Haven't been a R'osityite for more than a few months, but the knowhow and material I've already picked up has been beyond praise, so I'll butt into this debacle anyway - I'd hate to see this site go. Having looked for myself at the free-for-all that poor Storm unwittingly started, I must say I agree with picnic. Starting an exodus of all the talented people from R'osity is not going to improve matters. Whatever the pros and cons of opening a commercial corner on R'osity, any creator (free-stuff or commercial) watching the net's largest Poser site go down in flames of bickering will probably find something better to do with their time and business asap. I for one would miss both species - I use their work on a daily basis. And without the knowledge exchange in the forums, R'osity will only be half a site. Please - remember the semper fi.

Kein Problem mit deine english - mein deutsch ist viel mehr schlecht. Wenn man sich bloss verstaendlich machen kann... Well, anyway: sorry, I thought you were after Truespace modelling tutorials (of which there ARE many). When you have made a model you can use 3D Explorer to convert Truespace COB-files to OBJ-files for import into Poser. You can find 3D Explorer on http://www.xdsoft.com/explorer/ (I have just been told that it will not work for 3DS-files, so be sure to use COB --> OBJ). Have fun

There's a LOT of Truespace resources on the net - from basic to very advanced. Start by going to www.caligari.com, and move on from there. Have fun.
Thread: Anyone know how to get a obj file from a 3dsmax file? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Go to http://www.xdsoft.com/explorer/ and have a look at 3D Explorer. You get a 30-days-free trial period, and when I tried it, it converted Truespace COB's to OBJ's, making the necessary OBJ tex maps from the COB without any problems. I'm not a modeller, so I haven't really used it, but I'm sure it will convert 3DS files as well. Good luck.

Hi, Jody - Try out www.mitch3dseite.de under Character -> "soldat" and "u-bootfahrer" (german for soldier and submarine sailor). If you have Bryce, using some of the tech tex's on a figure, and arming it with some of the nifty helmets and weaponry on Renderosity, will go a long way. Have fun thip
Thread: Need tips on rendering a decent cartoonish-looking character... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi, Airus You can create acceptable results with Paint Shop Pro - have a look at the "Poser cartoons" message posted. The recipe can be expanded to make pencil drawings and other natural media imitations, but alas, not without some time-consuming fiddling with paper tex's etc. Have fun, thip
