Real 3d apps could learn a thing or two from Poser. The boning and morphing systems they use are a nightmare to set up and use compared with Poser. And the pricing is in the hundreds not in the thousands of dollars. Poser is a terrific app and a more terrific value.

You can also copy and paste material settings and textures, which makes the process a little quicker. There is some tedium, but the payoff is worth it.

Loves: Face Room, new figures. Dislikes: Hair. Doesn't look that great and is a huge drag on RAM, render times. Worthless: Firefly Hate in P4 and wasn't improved at all: Lighting controls.

The solution that seems to be working is to use all spots and crank the angle start dial way up. Completely counterintuitive for 3D, but it has the desired effect with the standard 3 light setup. The thought of using 20+ lights in a scene looks like a nightmare to me. Oh by the way. I model and import all my architectural sets and the default ground plane is a nuisance. Can I get rid of it?

The moral problem is with these software developing pirates. It's like a record company telling a consumer you can only play the music CD you just bought on your home stereo, but you need to buy a separate copy if you want to play it on your car stereo or a movie studio saying you can only play a videotape or DVD on one player. And music CDs and videotapes don't cost $200-2000. Development costs? I doubt any software ever cost more than "Pearl Harbor" to develop.

Blender is an excellent modeling program, along with lots of other things, and it's FREE!

I figured out a cheesy work-around that gets the job done. I export from Poser, import to Blender, select all the vertices in the mesh and move them to synch up with the already imported seed file. Crude but effective. What is the point in having an offset between the seed file and the .cr2? A giant pain in the ass!

I'm exporting as .obj and not moving the mesh at all once in Blender, although I have used the .obj sizer utility in the past to excellent results. I haven't zeroed out all the morphs, but I did do the other steps. I was hoping to use the Vic morphs to get as close as I can to what I want the easy way in Poser, and then fine tune, vertex by vertex in Blender. From what you're saying, that doesn't sound possible.

VID: I did that and it works, but I can only get to the head. My modeling program doesn't read the Poser groups. I can separate the head properly, but that's it. FYRE: I must be doing something with the figure that disables the Morph Target (No world transformations) option, because it isn't working, although it has in the past, and with P4s hasn't been needed.
