Following Deviantart and getting the feel for it;s trends is probably a decent measure of this.

Not in Poser or Daz Studio, not very easily anyway (without tricks I can't think of), the rigging is too rudimentary for such complex mechanics.
Maya and Houdini and possibly few other high end apps can do this, I haven't done it myself past watching a few videos about how it's done.

Quote - Well....
...it's not that I'm not dissapointed with DAZ and in a way jealous of all the ready-to-use shiny new stuff they churn out for Genesis, but....
...it was not that Poser showed big technical progress prior to Poser 9/PP-2012, so I can understand DAZ rather risking to do their own thing than waiting for Poser to move on with better rigging tech.
It was unfortunate that just when they were finished building a figure based on brand new tech, Poser finally introduced similar rigging tech, too.
Now they are back to the same technical level, but mostly incompatible with each other.
DAZ knew all along what direction Poser was going, everyone on tne inside knew. DAZ just insisted that SM moves their development cycle to DAZ schedule, and SM didnt want to take that much of a risk and release software a year before it was ready and have a large series of bugs, patches and SR's.
My guess is DAZ investors were pushing to start seeing some returns... that is usually what causes major changes at tbe helm that DAZ had had in recent years. It is one of the drawbacks of having investors. Dan Farr probably sold them on certain ideas, and overestimated how fast poserdom will move to newer technology.
DAZ missing us, like any dysfunctional relationship where one side gets over confident and thinks tbe grass is greener elsewhere, my message would be, you should have thought of that when large number of us were telling them this is going to happen, but they thought they knew better, and treated us like enemies.

Quote - I'll never grasp the concept of an "illegal image". I understand illegal actions, but not illegal thoughts. I especially don't understand all of these sexual taboos in a culture obessed with serial killers, torture porn and zombie massacres.
The problem is, you want world that makes sense. Not going to happen.
Most of us have no power to change it either (or time and energy to get involved im movements that have a chance of changing thing), since we're just trying to survive.
I know or me time when I had the energy to get involved in ectra causes is long gone, I'm just happy to get through a day without major personal mishaps.
Quote - I think 3D models should be as realistic as possible. If you don't want a naked Vivky then put clothes on her.
Amen!

My mom was in labor for 24 hours woth me, then doctors finally fiogured out that her bone opening is not large enough for me to get through - some kind of hip deformity, so they did an emergency C-section. I have the same harrow hip thing going. It's someting hereditary.

Quote - ok.. sort of off topic.. (but at least not about genitals!)
Is it possible to distribute an alteration to a figure that would change its joint centers, either just moving them or adding a dependancy to certain joint rotations, without requiring the re-distribution of anything proprietary?
Ie say I liked Joe publics fix to the thigh joint center and wanted to distribute it as a third party 'fix'
*disclaimer: I have no intention of jacking Joes work and calling it my own.. just an example
Hmm, that may be a question for HiveWire.
In poser, it may be possible, since cr2 is separate from geometry, but I donlt know every detail of cr2 internals about what would be redistributable and what wouldn't.
I'm niot sure about DS. I thought at first no, because geometry is embedded, but now I'm having brainfarts and have to double check if I am correct on that.

Quote - Maybe we are expecting way to much. I read in various CG magazines , that even in major proffessional CG animated Movie productions, different modells with different rigs are used for one Character. The reason is, that one Modell cannot do it all.
Yup Yup Yup!!!!!!!!
Quote - Nevertheless it's fun, to bite our teeth into those issues, trying hard to find solutions.

The thing is, I hope I can find a way to make it easily fit V4's stuff, then it should work. But that's a big IF!
That does seem to be the holy grail doesn't it!
Not necessarily. Every time a new significant figure has come out, people have complained about OMG, I have to buy all new clothes.... then they started buying it.
When V4 came out people we re all up in arms about V3... then they saw how much neater the clothes for V4 were, because of updated technology at the time, and their interests and priorities changed.

Just make the figure first, it's going to take you good 6 months to a year just to do that.
Start marketing it when it's much closer to being done, Poserdom has the attentin span of a gold fish... Look at the reactions about Dawn, or any other figure. It gets out , two days later people are complayining that it doesn't have clothing and morph support of a figure that has been out nearly 10 years.
Thats in part of why I mentioned that I doubt you have skills to make it happen. There is Much more to making a figure then just modeling. You haven;t even stated, and you already have a controversy on your hands.
Product don't hit mainstream by getting embattled in controversies. All this time and energy over the past week, you could have been getting technical feedback, instead, due to people;s reactions, things are getting derailed left and right. If you want to successd, you need to learn how to keep your project from getting derailed into irrelevant things. On one hand you say genitals are not that relevant, three minutes, you are talking about them like it's the most important thing on a figure. You're sending a LOT of mixed messages out to people.
Attracting attention with a specialized product in a specialized marketplace, like rotica is very different from attracting Poserdom mainstream. Surrounding yourself with friends who are goign to call mainstream prudes and other negativities is certainly not a winning formula.
