there's quite a lot of classical art at the Louvre that is technically 'adult material', and I wouldn't hesitate to bring children there at all. The week I was in Paris last year, seemed quite a lot of parents had the same opinion as me. I think this question of nudity is pretty laughable, when I see kids and adults frolicking at the seashore nude in Europe, with no apparent ill effect. Yes I'd bring kids to see the Venus de Milo and the Hermaphrodite, as well as many other famous Greek and Roman sculptures, along with the priceless collection of paintings which also liberally depict the nude human form, and I'm sure the children will survive the experience unscathed, as untold numbers of children do every year on school trips. :-) now something I can tell you from personal experience - is online places labelled 'teen' or 'kids' often attract predators that pose as kids. Yes I've seen horror stories firsthand. I'm more worried about that than I am about kids seeing a nude poser model, and I think mods should be more concerned about that than about simple nudity. I could care less about nude poser models. I see nude Poser models as something like virtual Barbies, anyway. Kids aren't any more hurt by seeing nude Barbie or Ken than they are by seeing nude Vic or Mike. The TOS here at R'osity is quite enough to ban any art that is 'over the edge' for teenagers. If people don't use the nudity tag - then complain. I always use the nudity tag on my work containing the unclothed human form here. Your kids may just turn that flag off - but that's your job as a parent to deal with. Not R'osity's job.

maclean... if someone can pile a bunch of radios in a corner of the modern art museum in paris on the floor and call it art... ANYthing must be art... lol. I saw three empty canvasses on the wall painted the same as the wall in the Pompidou... it was called art there, too... and they may be just photos on your page Maclean, but they still rock :-) I'm impressed by good craftsmanship. I can paint people's faces, I think this is a craft that people can learn too, some people say I'm even good at it ... some people even call it art. I don't care, one way or another. Its art to me, and that's all that matters. If its art to somebody, its ART. the gal Tisa at the top is a troll. Pay her no mind. :-)Thread: I was wondering if Poser 4 will be really extinct? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I use Carrara 2 a lot, and I won't be abandoning it either. I hope that Poser 5 sometime in the future will play better with it.

yeah, I'm out wondering about the hardware thing myself. P5 is going to be a ballbuster on my machine... and I'm not ready to upgrade my hardware right now. I think I'll be using P4 for a while, even if I get P5... if its too slow for this computer, I will have to continue on with P4 until I can afford new hardware.

I have the Carrara 2.0 - no problems here with Carrara, the global illumination renderer is really solid and highly realistic(which is why I got it - that and having an old copy of Raydream which made it cheaper for me) yeah I think the interface for Carrara is hard to figure out. But I get along with it pretty well - and its got features that are rarely seen in products of its price. while I'm here, might as well give that hamapatch link for the download- I've noticed a lot of people use it with A:M. go here for resources - you can use a lot of this stuff in A:M by just exporting to its format. http://www.geocities.com/hamapatch/Thread: Poser figures from Animation Master | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I use Hamapatch to start off lots of props myself. Its a freebie product out of Japan. It helped me a LOT to bridge my skills with 2d illustration apps to 3d, when I was just starting out. Its very similar to A:M in its technology - it uses patch spline modeling. (it will also import and export A:M models and export to OBJ format) I can't see why you can't do poser figures with A:M just as easily as I make props with Hamapatch. ps. Personally, I finish my objects in Carrara ;-)

At least with the yahoo, I don't have to use their software to use it... I take the list in email and yes - its got a lot of traffic and good tips there. Its also nice that Eovia is on the list and answers questions over it. I've been learning a LOT about Carrara this way. I come in here too, though - but not nearly as often.

I'm not a lawyer, but this one is pretty obvious, folks - something in my gut tells me that cr2s for new characters with geometries not owned by Curious labs (such as Daz characters and DSI's Dina) are not going to be under Curious Lab's copyright. You can own the copyright to a file format, under certain conditions. Let's take SWF for instance. Its owned by Macromedia, the ever so famous Flash format. So, Macromedia owns the format. They own the copyright - to the format ONLY. From their FAQ about the SWF format, it says: -- Is a licensing fee required for access to the Macromedia Flash file format (SWF)? No fees are required for access to the Macromedia Flash file format (SWF) or for the creation of products based on the SWF format. SWF files can be created with many leading software packages, including Macromedia's Flash, FreeHand, Fireworks, and Generator, as well as third-party tools. -- Isn't that nice of Macromedia to make their format free to the developer world? IF you own Flash, and make Flash animations... YOU own the copyright to the particular SWF files you make. NOT Macromedia. You don't have to ask Macromedia if you can distribute your SWF animations! If you export SWF animations from Poser PP, same deal. Its your work. Its the same when you have Photoshop. Adobe doesn't own your PSD artwork files, either - even though the PSD format is their creation. So, if you have modelled a new character from scratch and set it up in Poser - in all likelihood you own the CR2 to that character too, despite who owns the format. I'm sure that Curious Labs understands this concept, well at least I HOPE they do!
