Hehe, this is a coincidence. Last weekend I found this second-hand book on Juergen Ziewe, one of the pioneers of computer-generated art. He worked at the time with KPT Bryce, Fractal Design Poser. He started with something called Sinclair spectrum, learned basic to use it, got MandelZot, and then changed to the AppleMac IIFX and a Quadra to wich he added 32MB of memory and a 1GB HDD. But then he invested in a PowerMac 8100 with 8OMB ram and a 120MHz risc processor. This was about ten years ago. It's good to read this. And to see the art that was produced in those days. With those limited means, he still produced mind-bogging cards and posters then. They wouldn't seel now, but without pioneers like him, where would we all be. I guess he still has a website.

to avoid impossible joint bending mess, a series of good joints as bodymorphs. Example: arm along the body to 45, then from 45 'till 90, then 90-135 and 135-180. This would fix bad armpits for the greatest part. Add to this arm forwards, backwards etc and we come close. another thing I'd love is arms instead of the V3-SP drumsticks. And a better mouth that does not need tweaking it yourself. Apart from that, I still hope Seraphira will take up the Kaimira project again. That was/is/will be a good mesh.

Poser is not the kind of app one would use to create a mesh. If you own Cinema4D (which version?) then that is far better suited than any version of Poser. Secondly, you have to do the rigging. This is not easy. Poser is, once it's done, visually easier, but does not offer the softIK, vertex maps and Claude Bonet maps C4D has.(I'm talking about Cinema9 now with the Mocca module) What's more, there's an excellent plugin for Cinema by CactusDan for rigging without having to own Mocca. So I'd go the Cinema route as it offers more options for better joints. The learning curve is approximately the same. (= not easy) Except when you have the free Cinema6. In that case, I'd get free Wings3D and do the rigging in Poser.

Not to make any other merchant jealous, but ever since I bought Blackhearted's Ki quite a while ago, I was impressed with the original approach, and Irina is no exception to this. This said, I don't have the Tailor (something makes me a bit suspicious, dunno why) so she'll have to stay in exotic regions for now as I only have a bikini. Or I should start doing a lot of points tweaking...

The skin looks good, but I never buy skins at Daz because their policy does not allow me to see what I buy. (no intention to start another flame here! I respect their point of view and make use of my own, personal freedom of choice not to accept that, and thus not to buy. Everyone is entitled to another opinion.) Besides, I already have so many skins... And the character is not my style. Yes, A lookalike of Jessica Alba would be more tempting. ;) I love that smile. (ai ai, no dear, ...yes, you're more beautiful than she...)

haha, a Beatle fan! I thought you were talking about a hotel, but a quick search showed me that it's (hopefully) the nick of some girl. I do hope she doesn't look like that Daz character as that is really out of proportion (neck, legs,...)

Thread: You might be a "valued" CL customer if you... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Although I personally don't feel the need to upgrade from 5, I find that the upgrade price, taking into account what you get for it, is very low. I do not agree with several things, like the prices being higher for non-American customers (yes, even without VAT it's more expensive), and I have the impression (but I can be wrong) that CL's administration is about as good as ...mine? (a complete chaos), but Poser is, like Geep wrote, much fun for little money. People who complain should know that a few years ago, I was interested in Poser4, but it costed here in the shop 600Euro. Which I was not willing to invest. Another point is that some Poser users are on the far side, and use it with all bells and whistles. They see the big 3D apps, and want Poser to be like that. But most Poser users buy Poser...to pose. To create their images and have fun. These are not interested in soft or hard IK, Claude Bonet maps or not...They even don't care about V3's horrendous shoulders etc. CL is literally stuck between those two groups. They cannot move to a Poser Pro version without excluding the use of all characters etc that now exist. And who is going to invest in that app when you cannot use that big, fat runtime with perhaps thousands of dollars of merchandise? They need to stay in close contact with the mass of buyers, and that means that (sorry) high-end users will always feel frustrated. No way around that. Perhaps there is one: try creating your own character, and rig it in Poser. 4, 5 or 6. Or even better: in a 3D package that does allow soft ik etc. You'll quickly learn that this is quite a task. And that Poser is a very handy app. Perhaps not a big truck or a Ferrari, but a handy van that takes you easily through rushing hour.

I cannot imagine anyone being so stupid as to try and use a non-legit serial for upgrading. If CL knows that this serial is not ok, then they have a list of the bad ones. But undoubtably, they also have a list of people who did buy, and which serial they used. So they should know she was the one who bought. Although I read that it isn't absolutely safe (it looks like no method can stop pirating), I like the Maxon way. When you get your software, you get a temporary serial with it that works six months. In this period, you register, and then you get a final serial. They always know who has which serial. Anyways: this is burocracy at its worst. I hope that someone at CL starts a real investigation soon, and start cleaning up their runtimes err...financial dept.

Let's say that it would have been better not to make it a tab but add it to the help menu. (Help>buy new content online) But then again other "partners" teamed up for it, and they want now your money. That's why it had to be a tab.

Well, in this case I like it that I was wrong. I'd just want to know, question of curiosity as I don't have Poser 6, what settings you have in Poser? Texture shading? Smart Window refresh? Smart Live Selection? AntiAliased lines? Dual Planes? (is not dual monitors) Hardware lighting? Active object plane? It's good that they did an outstanding job with this. Your image looks very nice indeed!

But are textures created in photoshop, psp or whatever acceptable? Can extra python scripts (for Poser) or plugins for other packages be accepted or not? Are third-party objects (daz, sixus,...) acceptable, or does it have to be pure Poser? I see your point, but setting rules is always so vague...where does the beach end, and where does the sea begin?
