The hair texture maps are HUGE. Like, 1200 x 1200. Each. If I were you, I would copy the texture files to a safe place, then reduce the size of the originals. You could probably go to 1/4 the size, with it still looking pretty good.

The texture maps are pretty huge. If Engel's computer is locking up when he just loads the hair, switching to the P4 renderer isn't going to help. My computer is pretty new, and can handle this hair, even with Firefly, but I will probably make myself some lower-res textures and MATs, just to speed things up a little.

I have those beautiful eye textures, and they are worth it even at full price. They're about the only ones I use any more.

I don't think it's actually a Firefly bug. It's just that Firefly uses a lot of system resources, and so does Neftis' hair. If you have a high-powered computer, or if you reduce the size of the hair textures, it renders with Firefly just fine.

Personally, I found Anim8or a lot more user-friendly than Wings. (It's free, too.) I couldn't wrap my brain around Wings, MilkShape, or Zbrush, but with Anim8or, I made a prop in an afternoon. A fairly simple one, but still. :-) However...if you want a really basic tutorial for Wings, there's one here: http://www.theattic.us/news.ez?viewStory=55 You have to register to access that part of the site, but it's free, and they won't spam you.

Definitely check out the demo. I've found the free graphics programs all much easier to use than Zbrush. The interface is strange and frustrating. It can do some neat stuff, but learning curve, for me anyway, is very, very steep.

I suspect your problem is that you just don't have the system resources to deal with M3, his textures, and the very resource-intensive Mihai hair. The thread in the above link gives instructions on how to reduce the texture sizes of the hair. (It's a different hair model, but the principle is the same.) Others things that may help: Make sure you have all Poser updates applied. Shut down any unnecessary programs that might be running the background. I'm not afraid to fool around with the dials, but there are so many. Takes awhile to figure out what they all do.
Anyway, thanks very much. Personally, my taste leans more toward the Gray Davis type than to Arnold Schwarzenegger, but I want to know how to make Mike look like anybody.

The forums and the MP seem to be much better now, but still not as fast as they usually are. The galleries are still horrible. I'm still getting a "web site not found" error message half the time I try to access the galleries. When I do get in, it takes forever.

There's a thread about this in the Forum News and team contact section. (See link.) They don't seem to know what the problem is. They said they banned certain IP addresses, because they were using software that downloads the entire site. But it hasn't seemed to help the performance any. I've started making some clothes, though I haven't uploaded any yet. The thing is, I don't own V2. I own V1 and V3. If I make something that fits V1, will it also fit V2?
