Hair in the hair room does take forever to render, which is why I still buy hair. :-) I've found it helps to start with the dynamic hair that comes with Poser. Even though it's meant for Don and Judy, you can generally fit it to Victoria, Mike, etc. with a little tweaking. And it renders faster than any hair I've created myself in the hair room. It seems to be carefully designed to render quickly, as far as density, vertices, etc., go. As for how it looks...what problems are you having with it? You have to have lights that cast shadows for hair room hair to look decent. Adjusting the color can be a bit tricky, too; if you want a color other than the default, you might have to experiment a bit, to get it to look natural.

You probably won't see celebrity textures and characters for sale, due to copyright/trademark concerns. But there are lots of free ones. Star Trek characters, props, and sets seem to be especially popular. Often, when people do celebrity characters, they disguise them slightly. For example, a Scully character was posted to the free section, under the name "Federal Agent." There's a character called "Arrogon" for sale, who bears a certain resemblance to a certain LOTR character. I know there are Poser artists who do Harry Potter art. Your best bet for finding them would probably be Harry Potter web sites. IME, media fans tend to post their stuff to their fan sites, rather than to generic forums like Renderosity. I'm not a HP fan, so I can't point you to specific sites, but I know some fans were using Poser to create illustrations for their favorite HP fanfic.

The frames are a key part of the cloth room. I'm new to Poser and know nothing about animation, so it took me awhile to figure out that part. But I did it, and if I can, anyone can. :-) Basically, you can't drape cloth without creating an animation. Yes, even for a still image. After you run the calculation, go back into the pose room and use the animation slider to run through the animation you've created. (If you're like me, you've probably never touched the animation menu before. But you have to, for cloth.) If you're on frame one, it may look like it didn't work. But move through the other frames, and you should see the cloth start to drop into place. When the cloth is where you want it, stop and render that one. Also, for what you want to do, I would choose "Figure 1" (or whichever figure Mike is) for the collision object, rather than a particular body part.

I highly recommend Nerd3D's tutorial: http://www.nerd3d.com/Tutorial/Cloth/Cloth.htm If your cloth is falling to the floor, you probably forgot to pick a collision object. Don't give up, learning the cloth room isn't that hard, and it's worth it. Dirk, what you want to do is very possible, and should be fairly easy.

Correction. I have RDRAM, not SDRAM. Sorry, I just spent the weekend upgrading my friend's computer, and I guess I had SDRAM on the brain. :-) And I think Lucstef is right, it's not worth it. It's just what came with the system.

These are awesome. Just what I was looking for, for a certain project. It's so kind of you to give them away.
