A punk indeed. Don't these idiots ever learn? Maybe we need a big banner on every page: "Asking for illegal software will get you banned, loser! This means YOU!"

It's called MorphManager (not to be confused with MorphMaster, which is for MAKING morphs). It was created by Mr. X (no relation, I'm afraid :) ). I have it, but I'll be damned if I can remember where I downloaded it from.
Thread: Carrara Bible? | Forum: Carrara
I don't think there's much difference between the old and new versions of Carrara besides a lot of debugging, but I've never used the old version, so I was just hoping someone who had could confirm this (or correct me if I'm wrong). And my main concern with the Carrara Bible is if it does indeed touch new ground and answer questions the manual doesn't. I'm no expert with Carrara, but I've studied the manual long and hard, so I'm not entirely a newbie either, I guess. Unfortunately, if it doesn't even mention shader domains, it probably doesn't answer my other questions, either. Guess I'll just have to keep bugging the experts here at the forum ;) Thanks for your input, though, everyone. And yeah, Amazon is the place to go for books, no doubt. If only my local Barnes and Noble carried more 3d books so I could check them out myself and see if they're helpful...

Well, I went back page by page and I did find a solution 70-some threads back: select the end, Detach Polygons, Cut, Paste, repeat on other end. It did seem to work, too (at least on a vertex cylinder). Why isn't this in the manual? And does anyone know another, simpler method? DAMN that manual!!!!!

Easy, Jamball. This is obviously connected to a thread a couple pages back. Sams3d gave Mirco advice, and Mirco's just trying to say that it didn't seem to work. No insult to Sams3d intended, I'm sure.
Thread: Non-Commercial Restructions of Free Stuff A RANT. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I do want to add this: I think you should certainly give credit when possible, and even notify the creator if you can. I mean, if someone used a model I created, I'd be interested in seeing what they did, commercial or not. But as I pointed out in my example above, sometimes it may not be feasible to credit and notify every single contibutor when you're dealing with a lot of stuff, nor to build it all yourself. Hell, to create a graphic novel, as many people have (though I don't think anyone here has ever made any money off that...), with lots of real world locations...you're essentially talking about building EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD!!! Don't expect a sequel...

Let me say that I have indeed started modeling my own stuff, and I hope to share some freebies with the community as soon as I'm able. And I certainly won't be putting any restrictions on my stuff, other than no selling the actual model, of course, but then I think that's a no-brainer. I think that anyone who's that worried about the possibility that someone might make a buck from a picture with their model in it shouldn't bother with freebies. Personally, I'd be flattered that anyone thought my model was good enough for commercial work. And really, people, like someone said earlier, Dreamworks ain't that desperate. We're talking about small-time artists, members of our little community here.

Hmm. What if your image wasn't originally intended to be commercial, but the opportunity later arose to make money from it? Just ask permission, you'll probably say. But what if your image involves a LOT of freestuff, say a street filled with parked cars? Are you suggesting that the artist track down and contact the creator of EVERY SINGLE CAR? And since those cars are probably based on real models, would the modeler really have any rights anyway, since they can't exactly claim to hold a copyright on a model of, say, a Ford Mustang? Just a hypothetical example here, but one that could certainly apply to SOMEONE. Just model it yourself, you say. Fine, if your just doing a couple simple objects. But what about the street scene? One lone artist modeling every car, every building, every streetlight, traffic sign, trash can, candy wrapper on the sidewalk, etc.?

You're talking about a template, and I think you can find one right on your Poser:Content disc.
Thread: What do I do with it? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, the thing is, the .png is a replacement for the .rsr in ProPack. If you install something using an .rsr, PPP creates a .png and ignores the .rsr after you load it the first time. You can just delete the .rsr. And for new stuff you save, it just makes a .png, so you see, PPP user's CAN'T really make .rsr's. Sorry, I'm afraid they're becoming antiques, now ;)

By the way, the manual is useless when it comes to importing and exporting. It tells you what file formats you can use, but that's it. It doesn't say a word about the pop-up menu options. My only major complaint about the manual so far.

OK, I got it to work, sort of. I can't seem to do anything with grouped objects, but I was able to edit parts. Here's what I did: In my case, I exported a Poser figure in 3DS, with the "separate groups for each body part" or whatever it says checked. Then I imported it into Carrara, ungrouped it, selected a single part (chest, for example), and clicked the wrench to bring it into the modeler. Yes, I got the "No Parameters" crap. Now, in the modeling room, bring up the "Edit" menu and "Convert to other modeler" should be at the bottom of the list. If it's not, it must be something to do with it being a demo, I don't know. If you find it, click it and bring up the window for that. You'll see that it says "primative modeler" or something, so click the vertex modeler listed underneath, and you should see your object there for editing. At least, I did, although the damn Poser figures import so small that all I saw was a dot until I zoomed in! Let me know if you get it to work, and please, if anyone else has anything to add, don't be shy! We're the blind leading the blind, here :)
