*.hpi is Hemera photo objects file format. As I recall having used it a few years ago it was fairly simple to import the images into Photoshop."Placing Photo-Objects and PhotoFonts In Your Documents
The program is flexible and gives you four different ways you can place Photo-Objects and PhotoFonts in your documents for the PC and five different ways for the Mac.
Export Assistant - The first and easiest method is by using the Export Assistant. You start the Export Assistant by double-clicking the thumbnail image of any Photo-Object.
Drag and Drop - The second method is dragging and dropping Photo-Objects directly into your document from the Hemera Photo-Objects window. When you use this method, the image will take on the file format defined in the Drag and Drop default settings under Preferences in the Edit menu.
Copy and Paste - The third method is exporting Photo-Objects using the copy/paste method. You simply copy the image onto the clipboard by selecting the thumbnail image you want, select the Edit menu, and choose Copy to Clipboard. Then from the application you wish to use the copied image, select the Edit menu and choose Paste. When you use this method, the image will be copied in the file format defined in the Clipboard settings found under Preferences.
Save-As/Importing - The fourth method is saving the selected Photo-Object directly to your hard drive by choosing Save As from the File menu, and then importing the Photo-Object from within the application in which you wish to use the image.
Drag and Drop to Finder - The Mac has a fifth method which is dragging and dropping images to the Finder--in other words from Photo-Objects to your desktop or any folder on your system."
Thread: Transform question | Forum: Photoshop
Quoted from the Photoshop help files Bilinear for a medium-quality method. Bicubic for the slow but more precise method, resulting in the smoothest tonal gradations. Bicubic Smoother when you're enlarging images. Bicubic Sharper for reducing the size of an image. This method maintains the detail in a resampled image. It may, however, over-sharpen some areas of an image. In this case, try using Bicubic.
Thread: Transform question | Forum: Photoshop
You decide what method to use based on what you want to do with the image. There's no point choosing to skew if you actually want to distort the image. The only way to use different interpolation methods in Photoshop is when resampling images. Did you have something specific in mind?
Thread: Transform question | Forum: Photoshop
Holding shift just constrains the transform.
Basically there is no way to stop losing the pics resolution. Especially with the distort transform.
As ChuckEvans and LeFrog said start big and reduce the image last(if you can) and don't reduce smaller than you want and then enlarge again.
And try to transform as little as possible. Less is more.
Quoted from the Photoshop help files
"When transforming a bitmap image (versus a shape or path), it becomes slightly less sharp each time you commit a transformation; therefore, performing multiple commands before applying the cumulative transformation is preferable to applying each transformation separately."

I used to remember when I used to use Paintshop Pro on Win98, whenever viewing files in the 'open' dialogue, Thumbs.db files were generated as well.

posted this in another thread(they're in 3ds files, not the best for poser). PS; winzip can't open them(or so i've heard), use Winrar.Thread: Need urgent advise! | Forum: Photoshop
PS: The black screen is because most dvd/video players play the video in a hardware overlay(kind of like another screen playing on top of your screen) what you are actually capturing is the overlay key colour(black usually). For example if you have Winamp the visualizations can be played full screen in overlay mode(temporarily changes the desktop background colour, then plays on the desktop) which uses less system resources than full screen. Some graphics cards will let you disable 'Hardware acceleration', which should force the player to play in regular Windows desktop, instead of in a hardware overlay. A lot of the time though, the player just won't play!

Thread: The Art and Theory of Digital Cloning | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"As for digital clones, unless you have permission from the actor, writer, or current copyright holder your treading on very touchy ground." Where does this come from? Is there any legal basis to this assumption that creating a likeness of a celebrity will somehow get you into hot water? As far as I'm concerned, creating a render of a 3D likeness is no different than creating a drawing of a celebrity; Fan art has long been a staple of many celebrity fansites.

Thread: good dynamic hair? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Dynamic hair (even the presets)can still be edited (kinks straightened, length incresed, etc) in the hair room. Use of the hair style tool can give it the style you want, but it will take time and a bit of patience. Hopefully one day soon Dr Geep will make a tutorial on the hair room too!
Thread: Simple question about Body Studio | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you have the ProPack you can use the Curious Labs Propack plugin for Max 4(Max 5 can use the same plugins). I don't have Bodystudio, and probably won't get it, as all i've heard about it is that it doesn't work well.

or you can use Zbrush v 1.23b which didn't have this problem. Hopefully this will be fixed in V2 - released 31st march - saving my pennies(got 63p so far lol).
Thread: Body Studio, max 5 and poser 4 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There's a plugin with the ProPack for Max 3, you can update to the Max 4 plugin by downloading it from the Curious Labs site. Max 5 uses Max 4 plugins. I don't know if Bodystudio will support ProPack any more than the CL plugin will.
