Hmm, never had a problem with Norton. Not once. Millions of viruses detected since I started using it, in DOS on a 386SX/16... I was just hoping to help Pog understand that video-card RAM and CPU RAM are separate, just in case...
Thread: OT - what the heck are all these running thingies? | Forum: Bryce
Aye, Erlik covered everything I could think of... Including the K-Lite, which is something everyone should switch to ASAP. On a note, you really don't have many processes running. Did you mean to say that your ATI card has 128MB RAM, or your main system? If you have only 128MB of core system RAM, I'm surprised you can even boot your system. Send me an address and I'll mail you a stick of old 256-DDR-2100, as an act of divine charity. If you are referring to the amount of RAM your Radeon has onboard, which should be 128MB for the 9200, then this will have no effect whatsoever on Bryce, Photoshop, or anything XP-related, as long as your drivers are functioning. Bryce and Photoshop do not use GPU hardware often, Bryce only in Direct-3D or OpenGL viewing modes, and Photoshop never, as far as I know... It's a gaming card... Bryce can become unstable at times, but it seems odd that it would happen from ONE tree? Get rid of some of that spyware and give it another shot!
Thread: What is art? | Forum: Bryce
I for one think it's stupid and ridiculous to treat the word, "art" as a separate kind of word. It's entirely unromantic to consider artwork to be anything other than "artwork". If you didn't work at it, it's not artwork. If it doesn't meet the definition of the word, "art", as posted above, then it's not art. Cut and dry. Why the hell should ONE word get special, pseudo-romantic treatment, and not every other word? We'd have a breakdown of language if every word meant something different to every person. Beauty in the eye of the beholder? Yes, of course. But that's a function of BEAUTY, not of artwork. Pumeco, you are interchanging the definitions, as though beauty IS art. Not so. Art being art in the eye of the beholder? Nope. That's just stupid. Either it's artwork or it's not. People who try to redefine words just need to stop typing in English and go write their own languages, like Tolkien's "Quenya" Elvish language. You can't just redefine words whenever it suits you. Words, ALSO by definition, have meaning. If they mean different things to different people, they aren't words, but just sonic vibrations representable by physical characters. Such as the word, "woohoo". Not a word at all. ART is a word. 'Kay, that's dumb, and I'm done typing it!

(laughs!) Aye, I have no idea what I did... I checked my manuals, and the online help, but alas... I might have to email Adobe... (cringes)

No, I'm talking about using any tool BUT the eyedropper tool... My previous version was version 5.0, if that means anything. The eyedropper seems to work just fine...

Aye, ysvry, I cranked up all of the options I could find. The Maya render took over half an hour, and still, alas... the artifacts... I fear I'm not quite up to speed with NURBS rendering in Maya...

Aye, I suppose you're right, Paul! I figured since this was a smaller river, stream maybe, that it might add to the realism...

Remember that for a waterfall to exist, it has to come from a SNOW source. Or mountains that are very high up... All you need to complete the illusion in this image is one higher terrain on the far right, in the background even.... Doing very well! Throw in some trees...?

Thread: No "Export Object"?! | Forum: Bryce
Aye, Snowfox... welcome to the wonderful world of cheap 3D! Don't feel bad, we've all asked this at times, but originally Bryce was only intended as a terrain editor, a way to re-create Bryce canyon itself. Funny thing is, even the highest-end packages don't really have very much exportability. They, as well as Bryce, are all about being final renderers and importing everything to themselves... I believe that the reason Bryce won't export primitive booleans is due to the boolean architecture, which hasn't changed from version 2. Amazing.

There's a book called "The Atlas of Middle Earth", which has level-by level plans of Minas Tirith... Thing is, screw all that. Just use your imagination! Make a NEW city!

Aye, I understand that it would take a lot of work, AS. But somehow Maxon releases a new Cinema 4D every year, and Lightwave does it like every HALF a year... Still, Maya has been around longer than any of them, and it's only on version 6. I much prefer quaity over quantity....
