ARGH!!!!!!! YES POSER 7!!!! ANNOYING!!! I have to purchase poser 6 now to fix this problem!!!!
Thread: Morph size import from zbrush - scale off? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I understand what you're saying, however the modifications I made do not show up fully until I go to 1.0 on the dials. The head begins to "grow" as soon as I start turning the dial.
So to elaborate, eg. I pose a head with expressions and such (as close to what I'm looking to create).
Export the head as morph target.
Import into zbrush, increase say, just the size of the cheeks.
Export from Zbrush, re-import into poser.
Turn the dial say to .2 - it is at that point that the entire head begins to increased in size.
Funny, this never happens when I'm tinkering but when I have a project due, it always happens.
btw, I understand the mesh import method - I've used both the polymesh tool and regular import method and both have the same results. Although I agree the the polymesh tool is the absolute best way to go because you can subdivide the mesh (I love you zbrush) without issue.
I suppose I can exaggerate my mods in zbrush and that way, I only need to change the morph dial a small percentage but it just seems odd when typically (with other morph targets) 1.0 represents the target morph.
You guys are cool btw.
Thread: rendering discrpencies with displacement mapping | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I agree, proper displacement mapping would provide a very fast solution to potentially complex projects. I'll send the project file to e-frontier and see what they say about it.
Ciao.
Thread: Exporting Poser figures to top notch renderers? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
In general, going DIRECTLY from the renderer to broadcast is not as much a straight line as you'd think. Especially for TV where some shots are actually composited 3d components, thus saving massive rendering time, which we all admit, is an issue.
If you don't have a subscription to cinefx, you're missing out.
Indigo looks awesome, I would love a route to directly export poser projects to that renderer.

OK so I had some time to look into this, implementing the changes recomended, didn't help unfortunately. This may be a result of the plane primitive not having any y depth (seems plausible). To recap, the problem generally works like this:
1. Create an image in photoshop of several squares overlapping each other (make sure each square is a diffrent shade of solid grayscale, e.g dark-grey, medium-grey, light-grey,...etc.
2. Save the image as a bitmap (.bmp) file
2. Launch poser and load the flat, single-sided primitive (from props->primitives-single-sided plane)
3. Go to the default material for the one-sided primitive and connect a 2d image node to the displacement attribute. Specify the bitmap you just created. Set displacement attribute to .08
5. Render using firefly with displacement enabled
Result: Displacement height is correct, however the sides of the object display odd shading artifacts over time.

xvid mpeg 4 codec was used.Note the sides of the extrusion that jump between medium and light gold, height definition is maintained, but the sides display some odd shading artifacts. Any clues as to how to keep this from happening?
Thanks,

Thread: P7 Bug List - Feel Free to add to this. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I found the solution to the "disappearing figure" issue I mentioned above. Go to Poser preferences and under the DOCUMENT and INTERFACE tabs, select LAUNCH TO FACTORY STATE. That should fix the issue.
Ciao,

Thread: Poser 7 manual | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Great ref sites, dudes, but I should have elaborated that I am looking for a "bible" on poser 7. Sorry to sound so stupid.
Peace,

Thread: Poser 7 manual | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I love poser, but the manual is not as thorough as I had hoped. For example, in the P7 manual there's barely any description of how to use the DOF tool (circular guides on the screen to define sharp and blur areas). I had to do some searching to get a handle of how to use this tool (which is quite handy).
Can someone suggest a definitive guide?
Thread: P7 doesn't render with raytracing on . | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I found that, importing meshes from other apps (I use a REALLY OLD modeler, it's so lame) can be problematic. I used to have issues where I'd render and see nothing (although preview looked fine). Turned out that it was due to "backfacing polygons". Make sure you enable this in your render settings to see if that is the culprit.

Thread: OT- Microsoft BITES! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I had this problem when I was swapping out hard drives between linux and ms (I have those removable drives you swap out from the front of the case).
Anyway, 2 things:
1. You should call them and get a new reactivation number
2. If they refuse you, dispute the purchase with your cc company and buy a new copy elsewhere.
They ARE crossing the line legally and so they typically give you a new activation # no matter what.
Ciao,
George
Thread: Attn Poser animators.. learn to composite | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
In the last compositing example you showed how you exported bvh data from Daz Studio, can you also do this from Poser?
I very much want to export camera moves along with character motion. If you could please describe this or point to a how-to, I would truly appreciate it.
Very nice work btw.

CG

Hrm,
Maybe they should turn the subject into a huge banner at the top of the list as it is such a popular issue?
Thanks, by the way :)
