Really? Wow.  I've never had that happen. Well, I'd rather deal with semi-transparent hair than DAZ Studio...no offense meant to those who use it. It's just that some of my figures won't transfer to DAZ Studio., I guess because they're so highly morphed with magnets and extra groups.

I did that. A long time ago. I named it:  Wedge2LtBrownNew.jpg and when I loaded it into the texture window it popped up in the transparency window as well. I even took the original texture file completely off my computer and saved it to a CD so that only the "New" file was accesible. I manually searched for the "New" file, loaded it, and it popped up in the transparency window.
Weird, huh? Just to reiterate...if I remove the texture, the transparence map appears. It also appears if I turn the transparency down to zero, but then the hair is invisible. I also made sure that I had the display setting for the Document, Element, and Figure styles set to "Texture Shaded."
Oh, and it doesn't do this for all hair figures. Just a few.
It's frustrating, but as I said it renders fine. It's just annoying trying to pose and make expressions for figures with ghost hair.

I'll check for duplicate files. Thanks!
And I wasn't able crop my preview because my Photoshop is on another machine that was being used. So don't worry. The above was an exception to the rule. All the materials were named as they should be.

And I tried loading the transparency map into the texture winddw. It duplicated the transparency map in the transparency window, just like it did with the texture, but if I put a texture in the texture window, it gets put into the transparency window too.
The weird thing is that if you look at the templates in the advanced material room, the Transparency Map shows the correct name of the transparency map, but it shows the image of the  texture map.
I"m sure I saw this problem posted here, but it was a long, long time ago. I remember feeling some relief that it wasn't just me who was experiencing it.

I've done that every which way I can think of; in the material room (advanced and simple), I"ve cleared all the textures out and reloaded them one by one. I even made new, renamed copies of the texture and the transparency maps and loaded those, but the same thing happens.

If I remove the texture map althogether, the transparency maps appear in the transparency window and work fine, but now the hair has no texture.
Thread: M3 Full body morphs won't work. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Karen,
If you're asking if I'm moving a dial listed as a full body morph for the body, then I am. For instance, if I select the Right Shoulder and turn the Muscular 1 dial for it, it works, but of course only for the right shoulder. If I select the Muscular 1 dial for the body and turn it, nothing happens.
Acadia,
That was my next step, was just hoping there was something simpler.

Bad news and good news:
The bad news is that poses do not restore the magnet positions even though the same magnets were saved with the pose. As an example, I load my figure that was saved with the magnets in their correct positions. I apply a new pose and the magnets fly. I apply the original pose but the while the magnets have moved along with the bodyparts, they are still in their haphazard positions.
The good news is that I saved all my magnets as props. Now all I have to do is play with my figure, and just before I'm finally ready to render or export, I apply all my magnet props and he's in the proper pose with all he magnetic tweaks.
Thank you!

Using Poser 6. Waahh! I always seem to ask questions that result in "Gosh, I just don't know!" As an example, I select the right shoulder, do Object --> Create Magnet and make a magnet that pulls the back of the R Shoulder out a bit. All three components (base, zone, magnet) move with the shoulder just fine when the shoulder is repositioned manually. But when a pose is applied, the zone and the magnet have shifted significantly such that the zone isn't even near the shoulder. Question: How do I save a magnet as a smart prop? You think if I save them as smart props, load a magnetless figure, apply a pose, and THEN apply my magnet props it'll work?

Here is the response I got from DAZ for anyone else who might have the same problem: "Try going to your Bryce folder, and deleting the Bryce 5.DTA file. Unfortunately, recent security updates on Windows XP, or some other facet of XP, have started to corrupt the file where Bryce stores its Serial Number information. This tends to be sporadic, and computer-specific, and we have not been able to duplicate the problem. Deleting the Bryce.dta file in your Bryce folder will allow you to enter the Serial Number and open the program. The .DTA file is hidden, so you will have to have hidden files enabled in your Folder Options. Please note that unfortunately, we do not have a fix for this issue, so you may have to continue to delete the .DTA file, and re-enter your Serial Number each time this happens" I did as instructed and it worked. I haven't tried to launch Bryce 5 yet today, but at least we know what to do. Maybe they'll make a patch for it. I'm still having the problem of the materials looking washed out. I found a workaround though. I open a Bryce scene that was saved before the problems began, and import my figure into that scene, apply the materials, and save the scene with a different name.

Cleaned the registry, archived all my presets and scenes, uninstalled Bryce 5 and 5.5, and then reinstalled them both. Bryce 5 installs but when launched displays the "invalid serial number encountered. Please..." message. The serial number used previously (the one used to install) will not work. Bryce 5.5 works but still won't import OBJs as separate sections, although the very same OBJs imported into Bryce 5 that way just fine, along with their figure names. The colors in 5.5 look washed out too. This is weird. Maybe it's time to get Vue.

You're talking about when you export the object as an OBJ and the last thing it shows is that little window with the checkboxes, the top one of which is "Include bodypart names in polygon groups", right? Because I do check that, and in Poser the figure's names do show in the Hierarchy Editor and in the Main Window. But once in Bryce 5.5, the different bodyparts have become one thing e.g. "Fig. 1 Skinbody" and "Fig. 1 Skinhead" instead of Freak LCollar, Freak RCollar, Freak Head 1-2. I'll try uninstalling everything tonight. I routinely clean out the recycle bin, delete temp files, and defrag. Anything else you'd recommend?
