Thanks LuxXeon The first one I think will be referenced a lot for other ideas that I have. I found the 2nd to be rather easy and quick to achieve. And all I need to do is now assign materials to each sphere and see how it renders. Incantrix

Thanks Lobo The one using the ico sphere with poke suited beautifully. Once I set up how I wanted it to look just deleted all the triangular faces leaving me with the frame work in the correct pattern. Then it was just a case of a 2nd ico sphere scaled down by the smallest margin for definition, to act as the glass.

Sometimes minor things and issues get fixed in patches and the release notes just say other minor issues fixed etc. When it happened though just reminded me of demo software that amends files to stat as such or watermarks images etc. Like the annoyance of Maya 2017 student which writes to the file that it was done in a student version.

I couldn't find any references to it anywhere. So I must have been the lucky one LOL. And it didn't do it to files I created in 2.78A and then resaved in in 2.78B only new projects I created in B. And was the first I checked with the 2.78C patch which doesn't do it either. But also had other issues with B after doing a couple of low sample renders to get things right, ramp up the sample settings click render and the program shut down, didn't crash at all just closed down, reopen it and load the project and then render no probs with the higher settings. Doesn't happen in C. And taught me about saving before rendering (the hard way) lol

I remember when I first used Blender I had something similar cannot remember if it was the same though. I still do this occasionally as well and that being pressing the left mouse button to select when I should be pressing the right mouse button. As keppel says read some of the manual and watch some tutes They can save a lot of hair pulling.

When I was working with Maya it was just basic structural stuff and only really scratched the surface of what it can do. After that it went on to the kids ( I call anyone under 35 a kid lol) who had skill with Maya I couldn't fathom half the time I didn't really get the chance to expore into it deeply until I got my student liscence for which also gave me 3Dsmax and mudbox. Max I just couldn't into for some reason. And Mudbox I have a play around with quite a bit but nothing serious. I do love the Maya animation but after watching some utube blender animations am very keen to get to it when I have less time constraints. And also when I can get my rigging techniques above crappy level they are at now lol. There are probably a lot of better programs out there than Maya to do what it does. Problem being most will never see the light of day as maya or autodesk managed to cemment themselves in a time when others were standing idle. Once you become the standard on what everyone needs to use you can also dictate on to some degree on how the industry moves.

No Worries Miss B your welcome. There are subtle diffs between 2016 and 2017student (which I have here atm). Nothing that would upset the tutorials which I think there around 16 or more of them in the pdf,

Hi Tubbemand
I may be wrong on this but to me it looks like its and image map that has not been setup or layed out correctly,

Hi Miss B, A guy by the name of Todd Palamar wrote some excellent stuff for Maya2016. Not that cheap though from what I know, but also has all the files available for each part layed out in a step by step set out way. Mastering Autodesk Maya I think its called.

Thanks for the tip Lobo 2.78B hasn't missed a beat as yet but always handy to know. Like Miss B I do have other software that I have different instances of. And came across that with some of the tutes that were around. And I personally love the idea of how it progresses and the involvement of those that wish to help it progress. And looking at some of the videos about 2.8 that is going to be a big change again lol.

Thanks Guys 2.78b loads quickly with no non responding message anymore, after a system restart, It runs without hiccups at all. Although havn't put it through its paces as yet to test speed improvements. If the settings were not kept and passed to 2.78b I would have set it up the same way which was what I was expecting to do. Was more the way I read from the d/l page I thought it was a new build and there fore would leave me a version a and a version b, after looking through it again it appears to be more of an update patch. Which for what it has done would make more sense. So far b runs smoothly and nicely, which being the case I wouldn't need to go back to a, as was only in case there were issues or crashes etc. I've only just recently come back to Blender (last version I used was 2.49) after loosing access to Maya (some places just wont let you take the software with you when you leave lol) So am looking forward to see what I can come up with. Once again thanks guys for the responses.
