Thread: I know it is legal to make lookalikes of people, what about an artists character | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Has anyone ever even heard of a user/member/vender in any 3d communities actually being sued by a big name company like Marvel or Disney?
I'm just asking since I'm hearing that they are notorious for going after people and also hearing that there are so many products that infringe on their copyrights, yet I've never heard of any person in a 3d community being gone after for it.

I'll add my 2c because it is relevant.
To start with, I imagine Modding is a PITA. You can never please everyone all the time and I imagine there are many situations similar to dealings I have with my children. Where at some point I send everyone to their rooms and tell them I don't give a crap who is right.
So to note: I can understand why Mods get to the point they do and decide to take extreme actions to get things under control.
However from my perspective. That is actually probably the number 1 reason I had previously left the community. There were different mods then. Some had favorites and it was obvious. Those people could post anything they wanted. Nobody could respond without getting warnings or bans.
Back then there was really no way to debate either. Those certain people would jump in and make it a personal attack fest. I am a grown up and a big fan of healthy debate. I despise personal attacks though, I think people use them when they can't come up with intelligent arguments.
Well when I left the forums, I left the store, and left 3d altogether for a long while. It was such a massive turn off, the whole thing.
I'm personally VERY opinionated. I feel that this policy will cause me to avoid commenting on requests for opinions or any sort of debated topic. I think I am mostly in LaurieAs camp on this one.
I imagine this is a problem that will go on forever until Mods are given better tools. I do not envy your job, not one single bit.

Thread: What are cloth sim numbers? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes that is helpful. It means cancel now lol.
The numbers are currently at Draping 5143. It's been going for a while now. Nothing has changed on the screen but the numbers.
Is it typical for the draping process to take over an hour? If so I'm not going to bother with it. If not I may invest in some dynamic clothing.

She looks a little like Kelly Bensimon. I think she is fantastic. Looks very original. I like her eyes, and her cheeks. The only small critique I could give is that her lipstick doesn't cover all the way to the bottom of her lip in the OP. I don't know if this is something you have fixed since then so if so just ignore. Usually lipstick extends even a little bit off the lips IRL but never ends before the lip ends.

lol thanks for the quick replies
Do you all typically use the hirez square (I think that is mainly suppose to be used as cloth) or do you just use the regular primitive square?

Thread: rendering in c4d | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't know how experienced you are in these areas (OP) but I will give you my impressions as a newer and less experienced user. I really dislike c4d.
True it does render a lot faster than Poser but I have also had it crash far more than Poser. Using C4d 10.5 Interposer Pro and PP2012
Once you get through the vast learning curve there are many things you can do to speed up your process with Poser figures. There is a way to cut down on material maps so that you are only loading them one time and etc etc. But those things take time to learn and patience to master.
Someone suggested Carrara as an alternative. IMO that route isn't a great solution either. I do love the speed of Carraras renders BUT I think the quality is lacking. I see far more depth and realism in Poser renders and I don't know if that is due to lighting abilities or render quality. I just know that's what I see. Now I have the old express version of Carrara but I couldn't bring myself to spend any real money on Daz software when they are so notorious for not supporting their software and massive delays to bug fixes.
I'd say if you play to really really learn C4d and get use out of ALL of its features, it is probably worth it. But if you are only getting it for rendering than it is a HUGE pricetag for a very limited return.
I don't know anything about Lux Renderer. I may look into that myself.
oh and before anyone flames my post here, please remember that I am speaking from an inexperienced stand point and I just wanted to give input from this stage in the process.

I don't know if I have mentioned this before but I can be really simple sometimes..... I'm glad I asked because it kept me looking for the solution instead of restoring defaults but I did figure it out on my own.
I had the render dimensions set ridiculously high. So when I would see the finished render I would only see a small portion of it. 2560 x1920 - my moniter is not that big lol. Also explains why the renders were taking sooooo long.

After this I will post an image of the preview window from the main camera and then an image of what is rendering.
There seems to be nothing between V4 and the camera. Also it is catching her, it's just even if I have the camera pointed dead on her, it renders only her right arm. So it's like it's moving.

Had to go off to other duties yesterday after I asked this. I will try these suggestions and see if anything works. Thanks!

Certainly a testiment to the quality of Blackhearted's work that SM is actually promoting this add on.
The character looks excellent. May actually give me a reason to begin using one of Posers native figures.
