I hope this doesn't mean that non Poser users can now download files and extract a mesh from them.
Thread: Having trouble with export .OBJ dialog in Poser 4........ HELP!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think you misunderstand. When I say bring it in as one mesh, I mean the whole thing as a single object. When it's one object, you can't ungroup (since there's only one object, LOL). This lack of smoothing over the edges of adjoining meshes is a major limitation to bringing Poser figures into Max.

Correction: upon investigation the 'weld body part seams' appears to make no difference, so getting the bits in separately or as one depends on the correct settings being applied in the HABWare plugin.

Don't check 'ground' unless you want the ground as part of the export. I think 'universe' just means everything in the list (it either switches everything off or everything on). In the last dialog, make sure 'weld body part seams' is unchecked if you require the bits to be separate. On the HABWare plugin, check 'multiple' to bring the bits in as separates. One thing to bare in mind: Max doesn't smooth across meshes, so you're always going to have visible seams, even if you 'remove' them in UVMapper. It can be better to bring figures into Max as one mesh, though this can make texturing difficult (especially with Victoria).

I wouldn't have suggested you visit those sites without checking first that items generally matching your requirements were present. Look again. Both sites contain pump action shotguns. I'm sorry if they are otherwise unsuitable.

Try these Anthony: http://www.amazing3d.com/free/free.html http://www.greylight.com/poser.html I take it this means we'll be waiting even longer for your 'gentle fairy in the woods' series of images then... ;-)
Thread: Victoria in Bryce - eyebrow mapping problem | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Further to repositioning the 'upper' eyebrows. There is a morph dial for doing this. It's near the bottom of the dials for the head. What you'd need to do is position them just minutely in front of the head. Obviously it will look pretty silly without a transparency map on it! On your Victoria renders the eyebrows have mapped, it's just that they're still inside the head mesh. One thing that disturbs me in your Bryce wireframe screencaps is that the inner and outer eyebrows appear to be one object (material in Poser) on the updated Victoria figure. This is going to cause problems if you choose to move the 'brows in Bryce when using this figure. You'll definitely have to move the 'brows in Poser first before exporting if you use the updated figure.

You have two main options. Position the outer eyebrows (I think they're called 'upper eyebrows') in Poser and re-export the model. Move the outer eyebrow meshes forward in Bryce (assuming you exported the mesh as separate items. I actually find Bryce a dream to work in, so this is what I'd do. The other 'inner' eyebrows are just part of the head mesh with a different material. You can leave those the same material colour as the head, and paint the eyebrows on the texture map wherever you want them (usually over the eyes, LOL). If you delete these 'inner' eyebrows in Bryce, or apply transparency to them, you'll end up with holes in Viccie's head! What Zygote have done is give us a choice of methods for applying eyebrows to this figure. They will both work in Bryce, but you have to think ahead and choose the method most suitable. Personally, I find painting the eyebrows on the texture map easiest, but the advantage of using the outer brows + transparency is that you don't have to change the whole head map just to change hair colour.

Be careful when using the templates that come on the Poser4 content CD: some of them are wrong. If memory serves, the template for the Poser4 nude male is a case in point. Completely different! Rather than using any of those, I'd play safe and get templates by using UVMapper on the actual OBJs.

Brilliant work! James, please feel free to post this image over at the SciFi-Art forums as well, where development of Trek Poser characters is a very active subject. I suspect it will elicit some 'oohs' and 'aahs' there too! :-) You give us all hope: I would say this is the most 'non-Poser dork' use of the Poser male I've ever seen. It is possible after all! Time to move some morph wheels and manouvre some magnets. Thanks for the inspiration. :-)

Strange. I've made lots of morphs for/from Vic's head, and they all apply with no problems except occasionally the outer eyebrows appearing when using minus values (workaround is to render them transparent). Make sure every other parameter dial really is set to zero. Don't trust the dial reading in the main work space, since that is often an approximation. Double click on the dial to bring up the dialog for it, and type in zero if it says anything other than '0.000' . I guess the most likely candidates for culprits are the x, y and z dials, but check every one (sound of mad cackling laughter). As I tried hopelessly to say earlier, make sure you set the final export dialog box to 'As Morph Target - No world transformations'. Failing that, it's linked to tidal forces due to the approaching alignment of the planets. We'll have to wait until Poser5 for that issue to be addressed. :-)

Probably a silly question, but are you setting the export as a morph target (no world transsomethingorothers) in the last dialog that comes up before your export goes on its merry way?
