I have vic to P4, but she could not take the numerous morphs already done for Posette' body. I made my own by replacing Posette's head with that of Vickie and it worked quite all right, but it meant that I had to have 2 versions for each character I made : one Vickie, one Posette/Vickie, which was not satisfying, especially when it came to body texture : getting the same tone for both was problematic. Plus it meant doing twice as much work for building the characters... As for the threads to convert Vic2clothing to V3, they could work, but 2 things are missing for Posette : the mannijin and the Joint parameter pose, and I have no clue as to how to make them. Thanks for answering anyway.

Sory about that, I did not know it was possible to do a search in the forum. Thanks a lot for telling. Compiler
Thread: P5 Texture Maps | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you wish to apply a texture map in P5 : 1-select the material you want to apply the texture map to 2-right click in an empty part of the material area (not on an existing node) 3-chose "new node" > "2D texture" > "image map". A new node appears 4- In the "Image_source" line, click on "None" a dialog box will appear 5- 5a- If your texture is already loaded in Poser, click on the arrow : you'll see a list of the textures loaded. Click on the one you want 5b- If you want a texture not already loaded in Poser, click on the Browse button and navigate to the right texture Click OK 6- Now you've got to apply tis texture to the material. If you want to have the same effects you had in Poser 4, left-click on the plug icon, on the top left corner of your texture map node, hold the click down and drag it to the plug on the "diffuse light" line. If you want to apply the texture to the highlights as well, plug the same texture map to the "Specular color" line. This is it : with these manipulations, you should have the same effect you had in Poser4. You can toy with the settings to make the texture apply more or less to the material. It works the same for bump maps : just create a 2D map node, open your bump map (in jpeg or similar format, not bum)and link it to the "bump" line. Just one tip : when you are happy with the setting you achived, for, say, the skin, don't forget to save it in the library, so that you don't have to repeat the same process again for the other parts that use the same map. Hope this helps, and that my english is not too bad (I'm French, if that's an excuse...) Compiler
Thread: Morph Manager & conforming a figure = fubar??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I never had any problem with morphmanager. The only thing is that it doesn't handle body morphs. In my opinion (which might not be the most technical here), something went wrong during your edition of the cr2. Hope this helps...
Thread: Poserstyle update??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've tried to e mail Joe Le Gecko for this and never had an answer. I once was able to get past the "forbidden" page, but the poserstyle site was occupied by something totally alien to 3D grapphics. May be they forgot to pay for their domain name ?
Thread: Cloth Room Blues | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm not doing animations, but I tend to do Poser scenes with lots of props (the image above is made purely in Poser, including sky, hills, abbey, grass... So there usually is a need to to it all at the same times, to have shadows extending over the right places. Plus I'm a real sucker with PSP and never manage to do multi-layered images that do not pixelise on the edges... Thanks for your help Compiler

I had the same problem as you are having and asked Phil C about it. In short, it seems that you must set the frames to something like 30, let Poser compute all the frames, go to bed for the night, and then choose which frame you like best in the morning. This takes a long time and a powerful computer, but Poser 5 is like a beutiful babe : you won't have all the fun with her if you don't have enough money... Personally, I forgot about the cloth room and got back to my conforming clothes. I'm just a sunday renderer and I don't do images good enough to deserve a full ray tracing / atmosphere crammed / realistic clothes rendering. Anyway, the other advances of Poser 5 are more than enough to make the upgrading worth it, in my humble opinion. Hope this helps... Compiler
Thread: Things poser 5 doesn | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks a thousand times Misfire !!! It works, and the renderings are now reasonably long. Thanks very much indeed !
Thread: Things poser 5 doesn | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There are other things that Poser 5 doesn't like : shadows. I have a strong enough computer (for a non professional) and I have installed the SR1 patch. Everything runs smoothly in Poser 5 and in the Firefly renderer as long as I don't ask it to calculate any shadow. If I click on the "shadows" option in the render options, then the rendering slows exponentially and finally freezes, sending me a "C exception". That's quite exasperating to see that Curious Labs sells a non working product, and even more to see that they don't answer to my e-mails, not even to say "OK, we'll work on this one". I'm begining to consider going back to Poser 4... As for polygon smoothing, it was one of the main reasons I bought Poser 5 : I wanted to have pictures of humans that looked natural, and not with polygonal shoulders. I hope that CL will fix all the bugs quickly.

Speaking of old sayings, the only one I remember from the Dysney's cartoons my daughters sometimes have a look at, is from Bambi. The mother of Bambi's rabbit friend (whatever his name is in English) tells him (approximately) : "if you have nothing nice to say, why don't you shut up ?" It's something I always remember before opening my mouth... ;-) Compiler
Thread: OT..Please do not read if you are sensitive. I need advice from cat owners pls! | Forum: Community Center
Well, I don't know what to think of all this.
On one hand it's good to see that someone has love inside him to give to a small needing animal. It gives hope in Man.
On the other hand, with half the money spent for this cat, I can save 10 poor children from dying this year. And this doesn't give hope in Man.
Who am I to decide what's wrong and what's not ?
Anyway, congratulation for your persistence and success. I hope the little cat will give you as much love as you gave him.
I wish I am as successful with my patients.
Best regards.
