Now you tell me Gelana and Scathdebas! ;) I've sent them an email, so will wait for a response on Monday before making direct contact. Thanks, BYS
Thread: Why so few P5 "Dynamic Hair models" in the marketplace? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Or anything else for that matter, martindj. Hair doesn't export usefully to 3DSMax, LightWave, Cinema4D; nothing. BYS

No, I agree with you, dirk. On a P4 2.54GHz w/1GB memory, in order to get a "full" head of hair, slows down the render so much as to be untenable - what you need for it to be useful is an 3.06GHz MP (4 cpus) Xeon system with 2GB memory: that might help. For Poser anyway, transmapped hair has too many advantages still - full, transparency for feathering/edges, manageable, low render impact. BYS

I'll answer the second question. Download the latest Java Runtime for your system. Go to Java Downloads and select the Java VM. Or select the Java 2 SE (Standard Edition) 1.4.2 for full installation (including SDK). Select the version appropriate for your OS. BYS
Thread: Mimic2-where are the example animation clips??? (Attn Daz) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ah, so you get an animated pose as a result which can be applied to your figure in Poser. Okay. It was late and I wasn't comprehending anything at Daz. :) Went ahead and purchased it, but using PayPal am still waiting for the email in order to download it. Thanks, BYS

So, how does Mimic work exactly? Does it export a Poser scene with the animation tracks for loading back into Poser or do you do all of your work, including rendering, in Mimic? Need more input. :) BYS
Thread: Which Victoria | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Victoria 2 is required. Most likely, it uses morphs that'll only apply to V2 and not V3. You may be able to use the V3 to V2 figure for this, but I haven't, so you'll have to try it for yourself. ;) The solution - buy them all! :) BYS
Thread: Anyone here used Photomodeler??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, it is possible, but painstaking. Tools are more limited than in a good 3D modeling app and, at least with ImageModeler, I've had trouble with concave surfaces and reference points when using more than three photos - despite that they suggest "more is better". BYS

Wladamire: -blush- Why, thank you. :) And thank you all for the warm welcome. I'll be sure to check out the FAQ before stumbling in with questions. BYS

Photomodeler, which is competitive to the one that I use, RealViz ImageModeler, is for photogrammetry. These are very good for simple objects, but forget about organic forms. They're really only good for extracting textures from multi-view photos, but getting models out is not worth the trouble (unless you don't mind entering several thousand points correlated between the photos by hand). These do not do the modeling for you. You do the cross-referencing to establish 3D reference points and it extracts the texturing. Better to model in a real modeling program and use that model in either of these after making the 3D reference markers. BYS

Correct, ernyoka1, but I think that the .rsrs take precedence over the .pngs. If you have both, you still have to fix the rsrs. BYS

That's right, BekaVal. Forgot about that. In Poser 5, they dropped the dependence on .rsr files for the thumbs, but Poser 4 still requires them. So consider that as well as the nesting folders. BYS

Thread: Why poser stops working! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The problem is that a "properly" coded application should discontinue working on the file instead of discontinuing working. I don't care if it's processing a 1mm-resolution world map, when it encounters errors, it should recognize it, alert user, and stop processing. Poser is both notorious and praised for its loose interpretation of its file formats (it'll load almost any configuration). But when the file is corrupt, it should handle it correctly. Sometimes, yes, you will get a "program not responding" when it's evaluating a large file, but usually this will be a LARGE file (like 200MB or 10GB). Most of the time this signals that the system is unable to process any more requests for the application and it's dead - most of the time. BYS
