Nerd3d has a Fire and Smoke (sp) tool available that also might work. Think its $20.00 at HiveWire3d. Used about 4-5 different flames with smoke in one animation without noticeable slowdown.

Rarely, if ever, did I have an issue with Poser crashing, all versions from Poser 4 to Poser 11. Then SR5 came along. Every other click on the parameter dials, saving or using the graph caused a freeze or crash. Ended up deleting and reinstalling Poser 11, then updating to SR4. Seems to be stable again so far.
Dump SR5.

@VWD - You're right. I now remember lowering the hair after the first sim, which would place the vertices as you say inside the head. I'm currently rendering a project. When it is complete, I will reset the hair and test.

Hello, I did a hair sim using V4 and S3P Sassy Hair. The sim was over 2200 frames and hair worked fine. However, every sim using same character and hair, less frames and slightly different anim, the hair bounces, jumps randomly. I have deleted files, rebooted, changed softness, increased/decreased number of vertices but the hair continues to jump. I have posted a short Video. Also, how do I keep the hair from falling, stretching as you can also see in the video.
