Thread: Where are the support files?! | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical
Question : My version of Poser is 11.2. To update to the current/Bondware version, should I just run the installer exe for 11.3? Do I need to uninstall 11.2 first?
Thanks in advance.

They all play fine in Firefox. You might need HTML5 video support or a browser plug-in for it. Try to watch them on a smartphone see if that works.
Thanks! I'll give that a try shortly. I do use Opera for my browser, too, so I'll also check if it's running HTML5 or not.

For clarification : They're under the "Premium Tutorials" page, but show up on Rendo's front page as "Featured" tutorials.
Thread: Purchased items ARE NOT SHOWING as I shop | Forum: MarketPlace Customers

Our Holiday Grab Bag Promotion is going on right now through 11:59 on Sunday, December 25th. During that time we turn off the block to purchase an item multiple times so that buyers can purchase the Grab Bag multiple times. After that time our control will be turned back on and previously purchased items will show as purchased.
Happy Holidays!
Hello, Jenn -- Out of curiosity, has the block been turned back on fully? I noticed that while some items are displaying properly (showing as already purchased), some are not. And I just re-purchased two items this afternoon that were already purchased as a result of this. It's Jan 9th, so I would have figured the block would be turned back on again by now, but yet this still happened today.
Should I just contact admin to have the cost of the two items refunded? I have both order numbers where they were paid for twice...
Thanks.
Thread: Wishlist Coupons? | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
Ahhh... so it was from the top 50 across the entire site then. Alright. For some reason that was not clear in the email or on the site page. The wording in those statements made it sound like they were pulling from each person's own list for the offer. That explains the mechanics of the sale better. Perhaps a little clarification in the language used on the announcements might have helped avoid that confusion.
Thanks for the clarification.

Here's an example of what I mean - this is a screenshot of part of my current cart. Every one of these items displays at $3.50 in the Clearance sale category...

@Seliah Just to let you know your tutorial is now live and your idea to add the tutorials to the search list in the freebie section will be requested as it has a lot of merit. Thanks for raising both issues.
Thanks - on both counts. That is greatly appreciated, and yes, having a tutorials category in the free area would be a huge, huge help. ^_^
Thread: V4 vs Genesis | Forum: Community Center
I still work with, and create for, the Generation 4's, as I use them in conjunction WITH my Genesis 1.
I don't hardly even touch the Genesis 2's or Genesis 3's. Yes, I'm a DS creator and artist, but I also provide Poser support if it's at all possible for me to do. If you don't believe that, just check HW's forums, and look at Nataani's development thread.
I never was overly fond of the Generation 4's, to be honest, but I do still use them - and support them - today. I also still use my old Generation 3's and sometimes even the Generation 2's. Heck, there's times where I dig out my old P4 male and female to use! Old and obsolete does not mean utterly useless.
That said, however - if the Daz Genesis figure products were not selling, IMO vendors would not continue to be making products for them.
Give the un-solvable divide at the moment in terms of the Gen5+ not functioning in Poser, and the DS artists wanting to use them while the Poser folks still want to make use of the Gen4's... IMO, the best thing we can do right now is to just aim for more of an even keel of support for both figures.
Any product or freebie I make for Genesis 1, if I can make it compatible somehow with the Gen4's, I do. And that's the best that any vendor or freebie maker can do with this situation.
The choice to support, or not support, any figure is up to the individual creator. I personally greatly enjoy working with Genesis 1. I despise the G2's and the G3's. I like Dawn and Dusk and Luna. I support the figures that I enjoy working with. I have gotten used to M4 and V4, but I really don't like either of them. However, they are definitely better figures than M3 and V3 ever were, and yes, I do support them when it is possible for me to do.
We have two programs on the market. Daz Studio, and Poser. DS can make use of almost any Poser content that is produced. The same can NOT be said for Poser. This makes supporting both programs rather difficult at times for creators. And for those of us who only have the standard version of Poser, and cannot throw down two hundred or more dollars to move to a Pro version, having basically none of the content creation tools available (when they are free in Studio), further discourages additional support of Poser on the part of some creators. I came very close myself to completely dropping Poser support. An item that takes me maybe two weeks to put together and release for DS, takes me three to four MONTHS to get right in Poser. That's an insanely high production timeline. It's nuts.
I think at some point in the future, the two programs are going to end up completely splitting away from each other. I think it's only going to continue to get harder and harder to support both software, and at some point the products for one will not work in the other and vice versa. The introduction of the Genesis line was the beginning of that. Am I happy about that? No. No, I'm not. If I was, I would have already fully dropped all Poser support.
I'll continue to support the Gen4's as long as there's an interest in them, and I'll continue to do Poser support for my items (free or otherwise) as much as I possibly can. But if I can't produce a functional, good quality item for Poser, then I can't produce it, and it's just going to have to be DS-only. I won't put out anything that's half-schlocked just to claim it supports both programs. I don't care if the item is a freebie or a commercial product. If the quality can't be achieved, I don't put it out.
So long as I'm able to support both figure lines, and both softwares, I will. But I have to tell you, to be blunt, dealing with Poser is absolutely infuriating for me, and I can't stand the software. So anything I make that comes with Poser support, you can pretty much guarantee it's run me several months of fighting and pulling my hair out in order to make it work in that software for you. Poser is NOT intuitive for me anymore (and I did use it faithfully from versions 4 through 7, and then again on 10). It makes my brain hurt, and it drives me up a wall. I do it because I don't like to leave anyone out. But it's very HARD for me to work with, and does not exactly endear itself to consistent content production for me. Even when I was selling on Content Paradise, my DS content sold much, much better than my Poser content. And that's SM's home marketplace.
Those are just my own thoughts, as a long-time freebie maker, and small-time vendor.

I believe it was being checked on a very regular basis so I am as curious as you are and following it up now. You could probably hold off on the Freestuff section if there is no category and we have been looking at the tutorial section currently. There is a thread regarding this here in the Community Center forum Link. If this goes ahead then there will more than likely be the need for a dedicated tutorial forum which would be handy if on approval the tutorials such as yours were announced in there as well. Again I apologize for the inconvenience you should not have had to wait this long to have it put through.
Thanks. I did look through the link. I've read the entire thread. I have to say, I'm not a big one for chat rooms - at all. I probably would never even touch a chatroom.
But if we end up with a dedicated tutorial forum, sure, I could post an announcement as tutorials are put through. I don't write them every day, but I have at the moment, at least five on my website, three more scattered across different places that I'm converting to PDF, and two more currently in WIP stages. So, I do them regularly enough, though they do not make up the bulk of what I produce. I'm not against posting an announcement in a tutorial forum when it's through the queue. I just needed to clarify WHERE they should be getting submitted.
Thanks for your time. It's much appreciated. :)

Just for understanding, you submitted your tutorial already to the freestuff? I can't find anything waiting for approval here. Usually it takes not more than 1 day for approval, usually the items are approved the same day they are provided.
No, it was submitted under Community --> Tutorials because there is no appropriate category in Freestuff, otherwise I would have put it into the Freestuff section instead, as I believe it would be seen by more eyes there.

@Seliah
Hi Seliah I have found your tutorial and will get it sorted for you ASAP. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thank you. Much appreciated. Out of curiosity, is the queue for that section checked on a regular basis? Should I be submitting these to the Freestuff area instead? And if so, which category, since none of the Freestuff categories appear to be suitable?
Thread: Does Anyone Check the Tutorials Queue Anymore? | Forum: Community Center
Yes, it would help immensely. My tutorials with the way I lay them out are not going to format well in Rendo's forums. So I put them into a pdf and I share the pdf.
A tutorial category being returned to the Freebies area would be a great help, especially as I feel like those of us trying to share these things are working with our hands tied as it is. I can't link to my own blasted site where the tutorial is located, the tut has been sitting for over three weeks in the pending queue, there's currently NO tutorials category in the Freebies area, and it won't format well on the forums here.
Yeah, a tutorial category in the Freebies section would be great, if they aren't checking the pending queue for their actual Tutorials area. I do produce these on a semi-regular basis nowadays, and as I learned so much from reading others, when I do make one I try to share it in case it can help others. It's extremely frustrating to get stonewalled like this... which is why I posted to see if anyone is even checking that queue. Three weeks in pending is kind of nuts. LOL
Thread: Open letter to renderosity staff & members | Forum: Community Center
My very first purchase here was in March of 2003. I joined the site in July of 2002.
I've ridden the waves of multiple changes for over a decade. Almost fifteen years, actually. I've done it for the MOST part without lodging major complaints. For the most part. There's been a few times where I had enough and spoke up, and of course, was immediately ridiculed, insulted, and jeered at, or just ignored and blown off completely. I don't like to lose my temper, and I don't like to holler and yell. I don't think either of those things does anyone any good, and they are just not constructive ways to get a point across.
A few years ago, when the upper echelon of Renderosity decided to follow Daz's oh so wonderful example of "but we're a BUSINESS!! so take what we're handing out or go away!", well......... I went away. I deleted my ENTIRE gallery, ALL of my freebies (ten years worth at the time), and I moved my whole gallery over to DeviantArt, and I kept my freebie posts to Daz's Freepozitory, and eventually ShareCG.
I did continue to purchase here, albeit at a MUCH lower rate than I once did. I buy the things I need, and I don't buy the things I have no need for.
I saw the Prime membership as Rendo's attempt to keep pace with Daz and it's PC. Unfortunately, for some of us, it was a joke right from the start. At $100 in one lump sum, for an entire year, it was quite frankly not worth it to me, nor was it affordable. Nor did I see much in the way of actual benefits to me, since I am not the type to try and "keep up with the Jones" and buy the latest/greatest/newest/whatever product that's coming out. (This can be seen if you look at my renders; I still use M3, V3, M4, V4, and Genesis 1 figures and their items, I use many items that date all the way back to the reign of the P4 female and V2/M2.)
So, therefore... the Prime was pointless for me. And still is. I am thusly, NOT a Prime member, nor will I ever likely be. I do have a PC membership on Daz because there are a lot of props and environment and other such resources that I find useful. However, lately, with the encrypted-only releases, I'm beginning to doubt how much longer I will maintain that membership either.
In all the changes across the many forums, many sites.. some places disappearing (Remember PoserPros or 3DCommune anyone?) for the most part I have tried to just ride the wave, adjust to it, and continue to move forward with what I'm here to do. I like making content. MOST of my content is made and distributed as freebies. I enjoy making art, even though my art is usually ignored by the gallery-at-large because I don't post pinups or do T&A shots. I do story illustrations. Big difference, and when people are looking for skin, they won't bother looking at story images.
Anyway.
I very recently came back to the site as an artist and freebie maker. I DO upload my freebies to the free content area here, but only because I have no choice. Because I have so many years worth of content, I vastly PREFER to attach a link to my main website IN ADDITION TO THE FILE when I upload a freebie. Why? Because MOST of my freebies are not even on this website any longer ,due to the actions of the Renderosity Business Echelon at the Top. However, that said, I have the same policy in just about any place I post my content. If the place allows a direct upload, or prefers it, I will do it and attach a link to MY website.
I do not sell at MY website. Yeah, there's a small market section, which is no longer even valid. I have emptied out and closed my small store on Content Paradise some time ago, so those links are dead and I need to update my website to reflect that. However, that said... the main reason I attach MY website link to my content posts, is so that folks can find the REST of my content, and maybe they might find something else that is useful to them on the site.
Now, when Rendo first decided to ban these links, I stopped bothering to even post my freebies on the forums here. After all, no links allowed. And then when Rendo went to the Daz attitude of "to heck with you all, we're a BUSINESS and we want MONEY," I ended up wiping out my gallery and my freebie section on this site.
Now, last summer I think it was? I tentatively came back as both an artist and a freebie maker.
I'm wondering if I made a bad decision there. I'm actually considering wiping out both the gallery and the freebies one more time. Rest assured, if I do this a second time, it will be the LAST time, because I will NEVER bother to upload either content or gallery images ever again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. And at the moment, I'm starting to think this just fell into the "Fool me twice" category.
Banning ALL outside links is unproductive to a community environment, which the upper echelon of Renderosity CLAIMS is so gosh darned important to them. Banning ALL outside links actually hampers a community environment, whose purpose is to SHARE information. How the heck are you supposed to share information without links? Someone explain that to me, mmkay? Because to my eyes, it's simply not possible.
Now.. I don't NORMALLY bother to post in discussions such as these. Frankly, they're pointless. We can, as members, rail on all we want. The fact of the matter is that the mods themselves are not the problem, and I am NOT angry with the mods. The other fact of the matter is, that no matter what we say or how many times we say it, or how many of us say it, the upper echelon of the BUSINESS MANAGERS at this site are going to do whatever the hell they feel like, because they DO NOT CARE about the community at large. I do believe the MODS care. I do. But they are being hamstringed by draconian rules and behavior and the money-first, profits-first attitudes of the business managers at this site.
Mods... I could never do your job. I don't envy you your jobs. I would not have the patience for it, and would probably get myself fired for telling off the business managers. I have a bad habit of refusing to do something that I vehemently disagree with. So... props to you for continuing to wade through the piles of horse puckey to do your jobs, because I would never be able to make myself do that.
Now. All of that said. The direction Renderosity is going concerns me. It concerns a lot of folks. I got my start here and at 3DCommune. I've been at this a long time. I don't for even a minute think that anything I or anyone else on these forums has to say is even being READ by the folks at the top, let alone LISTENED to. I know better by now. It doesn't matter how much spin the mods or the admins place on these policies, that's all it is - spin and PR campaigns aimed at trying to herd the membership like sheep into their pens. It's meant to make us kowtow and behave and stop questioning why. They (the business managers at the TOP of the site) dont' care about a dang thing other than how many pennies go into their coffers at the end of each day. Period.
Despite all of this, the community here has limped along. It's NOTHING compared to what it was when I first came here. I won't comment on the banning of the vendor because I have no idea what happened or what was said to cause it.
I am sick to death of corporate and business attitudes. I remember when this hobby was first and foremost about sharing with each other. Heck the whole reason I started to MAKE freebies was to give something back to the hobby that I had benefitted so much from in the first place! Now, with the whole no links thing? You are crippling my ability to give back!
All I will say here, is that at this point, I've found my home at HiveWire, and I will be selling content ONLY through them, but I do still come here on a regular basis to read and sometimes buy a little content from the vendors I love. I still love this place. I would like to continue adding freebies to this place, and my art, and being on the forums to read what gets posted, even if I don't msyelf make a lot of my own posts. At the moment, that is looking doubtful here.
I really wish the greed of business managers would stop destroying places I love.
That's all I say. I won't post again, so don't anyone worry about it. I just had to get that out.
Thanks.
