Thread: 'utf8' codec error thing, help. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
But can i know why this happened? something went wrong while saving?Python is expecting to read a UTF-8 encoded text file, but your CSV file isn't UTF-8 encoded.
Load your CSV in MS Excel and select CSV UTF-8 option while doing a Save As.

Hey Primorge, so you were able to have the smooth surface on Poser? how?I took the liberty of doing some snooping, going by the name of the 3d model in the Poser screencap. It's a LOD 1 Dr. Karlov model from Call of Duty, just the head. It appears to be this one, though finding some way to get the actual model eluded efforts...

No wait, i did nothing on blender, just imported the .OBJ directly on Poser. It's looking to me like whatever you did in Blender resulted in polygons that are not welded. That's why you're getting the holes in the mesh.
I'm not familiar with Blender. Is there a command something like "Weld Identical Vertices" in it? Try that before exporting the OBJ.

I tried your guide (thank you) and these are the results:1) Import the OBJ at its base resolution. I'm assuming you want to use that head as a prop, and not a figure. So we'll go with prop.
2) Switch to the PROPERTIES tab.
--- Make sure Smooth Polygons is checked.
--- In the Subdivision settings, it defaults to no subdivisions for Preview and Render. Start with the Preview wetting. Increase the setting until you get the type of result you'd like in the final render. THEN, enter that value in Render subdivisions.
--- Next, cut the Preview setting back down to 1. You just need enough to take the facet look away. The higher you set this, the more taxing it will be on your system.
Try initially setting the Preview to 1. It SHOULD make it smoother. But the preview setting doesn't matter as much as your final render. Plus, setting the Preview subdiv level too high will be taxing your system.
3) Choose Display > Document Style > Texture Shaded. You SHOULD see a nice shaded model now.Â
Can you confirm that you tried these steps?

Are you sure it works also with an imported .OBJ?
Here are two Andy's with Flat Shaded on the Left and Texture Shaded on the Right.
Because i tried but it remain the same, i'm afraid it works only on figures like Andy, Michael, etc., but not imported stuff.

Hey hborre, thank you for the reply! When you render the model, it may not have the desired smoothness. To achieve a smoother appearance, the mesh requires subdivision. However, this is not an option in Poser Pro 2014, and you would need to apply subdivision in a third-party application. Poser versions 11, 12, and 13 offer internal subdivision capabilities.

For each parameter, you may open the corresponding dialog box:
At this point, you may have different situations:
* for exemple Min limit = Max limit, avoiding any change of the Value parameter (which is the one that's directly changed)
* sometimes, the Sensitivity is set to a very low value so that when you turn the corresponding control:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
it doesn't seem to move
You may also uncheck "Hidden" so that it remains visible in your Poser file.
Solved!
It was because of the "Force Limits" thing, without it the eyeballs started to move on their axis.
Thank you very much Phil, you saved me!

They may be set as "Hidden parameters". The following screen caps are from Poser12, but you should find the same in your Poser version:Hi to everyone,
i have this little problem, i'm working on Poser Pro 2014, on a Michael 4 character (with Morph), i want to make the eyes wider, so i go to the head and work on the "EyesWidth" regulator.
And it's ok, the eyes go wider, but only the holes of the face, the eyeballs remain there, they don't follow the holes that now are wider.
I click on the eyeballs but there is no "translation" option that can help me in move them.
what i have to do?
Thank you.

Hello giotim,
I've had this happening too, and it looks like a problem with the implementation of OpenGL.
I ran PP2014 on winXP64, and everything was fine.
Then I updated Windows, first to 8, now to 10.
I had this in both versions of Windows, but in PP2014 only - P11, no problems.
I figured out a workaround which does work (for me):
Check your camera's "hither" setting. It must be higher than 0,000! A setting of 0,500 does work for me, unless I want to go in really close! If I need that I switch to SreeD view, where this effects don't show, whatever your "hither" value.
HTH

Thank you Karina, this helped me a lot!

Solved! and the solution was already on the first comments, i don't know why, but the "preview drawing" settings was on Sreed, not on OpenGL, and i don't know why, because i don't know what is it and i never touched it (maybe some crash changed this options? some updated of the software or of the hardware?). Once back on OpenGL everything turn back normal. Thank you guys, i know probably it's a stupid thing for you all a setting mistake like that, but for me was a hell the last days on poser!

Hi to everyone and thanks for your replies (i'm a man :D) I don't know nothing about OpenGL or Sreed, but the thing is that this is happened after years that i work with it, with the same PC, i think i touched some options but i don't know what...
About the figure, that is simply Michael 4, but this problem is for the whole scene, for every figure inside the scene, it not depends by which one i use. For example this new screenshot is Michael 3, with a view of my display settings if you are asking about these...
Thank you for your help!
