Been here since 1999 I think. The forums are not much fun anymore, this new site design is truly awful and the store hasn't had much to interest me in a long long time.
I'm done and leaving
Been fun and a part of my life, not putting up with it anymore, revert the site to a usable state (agree 2012 was last time it was good to use) and I might come back, otherwise me and my wallet are going elsewhere, I won't miss what i don't check in to look at.

I couldn't care less where this thread ends up, let's talk rather than bitch and argue about where something belongs, live outside the box.
I'd love to use Genesis but I don't like DS much, but I think if the next Poser version doesn't in some way sort out compatibility (and I doubt it will) I may have to put some serious time into learing DS. though I have so much content for V4 and M4 to keep me going for a long time.
i do think personally it's a little too much too quickly for the Genesis line, be nice to have things settle and stabalise. i wonder if the vendors like these 'quick' updates compared to V4 / M4. wonder if it harms sales in long term.
I'm off to move myself to my sofa which is a better place to have dinner.
best wishes
Jody

on the Linux vs Windows debate, i use a spectrum 48k running a virtual dragon32 emulator, it's a bit slow loading Victoria 4 but it's totally secure cause it can't connect to the internet. Need quite a lot of floppy disks for the library....

It never hurts to invest in an external drive and back up data regularly or even go for an online backup program like Mozy or Livedrive, you then have relative peace of mind as you can recover past versions etc.
I have an automated disk backup, an automated online backup (with 1.2tb of stuff backed up so far) and a manual clone of my main disk weekly on Sunday evenings. Overkill perhaps, but I've never lost a thing.
Even using your PCs built in DVD burner (if you have one) to make copies of stuff. I feel for the poster here, i've had those calls too but I know how to deal with them and if you are not aware of them it must be easy to be sucked in.
Best advice to everybody, backup, backup, backup...you never know...especially these days when photos, videos etc are on your computer, sometimes those memories are worth a few pounds a month in ensuring they are safe.

thanks everybody, this is really useful, I seem like I am not alone nor abnormal in what is happening. I will try some of these suggestions.
For the record, the PC has an SsD and that's where everything including Poser is, a few other drives exist, but they are slower and I keep poser off them

Poser 2014, 64-bit, 16gb of RAM, Windows 8.1, SSD etc.
LIbrary is external, always has been since the option was there, better workflow with two monitors.

Haven't had hang since reducing subdivison, I'm also typing rather than spinning. Maybe I was just being too rough on the poor imported thing :-)
