My experience with DAZ software is extremely disappointing. It started when I decided to pay the price to buy DAZ Studio 3 advanced. Of course, eventually DAZ Studio became free. Add to the list Carrara, Bryce, Hexagon, and other titles I've forgotten.
The software was abandoned, and my money was wasted. Now DAZ is taking plugins people had already bought, then repackaging them and making them part of a subscription plan. And you can only use that stuff as long as you maintain your subscription?
I haven't used DAZ Studio since Genesis 9 arrived. Now I'll wait to see when DAZ Studio 5 arrives. Wonder if it will become subscription-ware?!

I rarely come here any more. The other day I got a bunch of emails about posts to a topic I had long ago forgotten about. So I came back and made one response to that topic.
Sometimes I feel nostalgic about Renderosity. There were some great memories before I self-destructed.
Moving right along.
Thread: What's Happening at DAZ? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I really felt good about DAZ, maybe 20 years ago. But in the decades since, it's just been a regular nightmare.
I can't find stuff because DAZ insists on creating its own insane way of handling the alphabet. When I buy a shirt, I don't want to look under the PA's name to find it. I never remember a PAs name.
As for "real world" clothing for males or females: I was delighted when I discovered Genesis 8. There were all sorts of fantastic "mature" male & female characters, and clothes to go with them.
That must have been a fluke, because Genesis 9 is sorely lacking.

I don't frequent the DAZ forums very much. I post only very rarely. I'm disappointed that there are very few male clothes for Genesis 9. I don't want pirates, etc. I don't do female pinups either. DAZ made a big claim that Genesis 9 males could wear female clothes. I posted that this wasn't realistic. They deleted my post.
I sometimes complain about "Vanity" folders because it's so hard to find my content. I never keep track of vendor's names. I get some replies from the PAs that tells me their content experience is totally different from mine. Since they're PAs, most of their content is installed under PAs names.
I submitted a ticket about a problem with a scene from Moonshine's diner. I got a reply announcing a fix, two years later.

I prefer to use a 32" TV with 1080p resolution as a monitor for working with DAZ Studio. Hey, I'm 72 years old, and my eyes ain't what they used to be.

IAmNobody Special, I'd be interested to see/hear your experience, but in a much briefer format. I rarely watch any video that lasts over 10 minutes.
Thread: Daz vs poser | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I bought Poser v1 maybe about 1996?! I never figured how to use it. Jump ahead to 1999. Poser 4Â was much easier to learn. Poser had one huge weakness: a shortage of content that came with Poser. From the beginning, I relied on DAZ for content.
I tried DAZ Studio from its early days, and have used DAZ Studio exclusively ever since. I got excited when Bondware (Renderosity) bought Poser. I really hoped for a rush of new, enticing Poser content to rival DAZ. It's been more than a year, and I stopped waiting. It's too bad because I still have a soft spot for Poser.

Hey, Yarp. I might have known you'd be quick in releasing necessary updates! It's good to see you again!
Thread: Windows 10 only? | Forum: Poser 12
I'm still amazed at how many people cling to an outdated, unsupported version of Windows when they want to use graphics software. Each new version of such software offers more power and features. Each new version has its own OS and hardware requirements. That won't change even if users refuse to upgrade.
I went through a similar problem when I clung onto my beloved Mac computers for a decade. Then I got a new PC with Windows 10, and powerful hardware. I'm happy now.
Thread: How About A Poser Only Website? | Forum: Suggestion Box
This is all so un-necessarily complicated, in my opinion. Renderosity likely makes a lot of money from DAZ Studio content. Yet the overwhelming attitude in most Poser-related discussions here is anti-DAZ. At the same time, Renderosity has failed to produce their own Poser content in quantities to rival DAZ.

Thanks. Heatherlly, I believe I looked at that and similar models. It looked decent. One day I got a Costco catalogue, and like the one I got. It helped that my Dad bought it for me!

I really wish the division of attitudes between DAZ and Poser would end. In the beginning, DAZ was the largest provider of Poser content. The owners of Poser software didn't produce much content. Many of us didn't mind. DAZ content worked fine in Poser. Now DAZ's newest content won't work in Poser. It's time for Bondware to dramatically increase production of Poser native content in order to keep Posers owners like myself happy.
