Rosie, I really, really hope all yrs relatives and friends in Japan are well and kicking....
As far as I know the japanese spirit, they will make it up albeit the tremendous, tremendous losses.
Hope also that that damned nuclear plant be sealed off for good ASAP
Hold tight

In a previous post I stated that you can import every .obj into it... not so... it must be a UV free mesh (sculptris calculates the UV map for your object when you dig into paint mode - if you put say a V4 mesh into it it won't go into modeling mode but straight into paint mode... PLUs the .obj has to be free of non-manifold faces .. I purge the mesh from it with a free tool, meshlab.
MatCreator, with your post you just confirmed how good the stuff is.. when 3dcoat will come out with a "sample edition" for free I'll be glad to take a look at it....
Here's my bit of salt on it (image)

Sadly I had my Bryce installed PC on repair, so I used Lightwave3d instead to do the final test
I just had to smooth the mesh in UVMapper
There are 2 modules into it, one for sculpt, one for paint. Once one has finished modeling/sculpting, you go for the paint module, then Sculptris builds UV mapping of your job, then you can paint whatever texture , color for surface, B/w images for the bump details.
Amazing.

To tell you my impression ,I have to dig it out yet, only toyed with it a bit and seen others job , this is by all means a selfcontained "little zbrush" .. very powerful, with bump mapping, color mapping, and everything is exportable (obj plus bitmaps generated into it...)
This is his site:
No wonder they wanted the swedish boy for themselves.
http://www.sculptris.com
I am sure that when he become a part of the Pixologic family, the Sculptris project will flow into ZB and disappear...
To pakled:
No, its not a shareware, it works endlessly. If you want do a donation to the author, you could by all means do so... or not, your choice. That guy has made his smart move anyway...
To Corrie:
The default sphere to be modelled is deceiving. You can IMPORT whatever .obj into it, and play with the geometry as it is putty... have a try with it create some object , then throw what you created into Bryce....

Just to add some info in it, very useful link about scuptris:

forget my misspell on the forum title please... (scultris iinstead of sculptris) ...

Dear Rosieee !
Sorry to hear about your laptop... these things happens.
I have 3 desktops, and from time to time every one of them suffer some serious problem that require tech attention... the one you pay with sound money...
the other week I was lucky; on my main machine ,the one on which I compose
my renders, XP crashed and refused to start, ever. But was costless this time...
I am ready to this, I have an updated Ubuntu Live CD, plus many software tools that can accoomplish almost everything, like taking out from the trashbin erased files, so rarely happens that I lose anything that I do.
Well, what I can propose to you... ?
Can I be radical...? Bring out the paper and stencils, and color out your soul onto it.
I know at first you will not like the very idea. Try to effort on it lest say ten minutes,
what you draw really doesn't matter - I am sure this will ease your loss.
Of course this can't replace Skype... for that you will have to wait...

I've seen only the revised version - DUnno about the other one, but this is very
effective - agree with Dawnstar, there's a perfect connection between title, image and meaning -
which was yr goal , n'est pas ?
Do MORE !
Thread: selecting meshes.. short cuts anyone? | Forum: Bryce
Yes, I remember your Vue period (à la Picasso blue period ?) and I did myself find many annoying
things about it. I love Bryce at least as you do, but the concept of doing something out of Bryce to get your artwork go forward ... that was my point, I mentioned AoI because it was the first thing that came to me in terms of " editing the mesh "....
Thread: selecting meshes.. short cuts anyone? | Forum: Bryce
Rosie,
my best advice that I can give to you is to use anothem program to just edit the mesh you want to
use it, change the surfaces in the sense of regrouping them as one where needed , for example.
I am a Lighwave user, and I found the Modeler of it very fit to it, but I am sure you can find something even free of charge in the net.
For a start, there is the completely free Art of Illusion,
you can find it at
www.artofillusion.org
Follow the step instructions, it requires Java Runtime Enviroonment to run properly (also free stuff...). Of course you have to learn at least the basic of it... but I know that as Bryce user you natively adapt....

LOL,
electroglyph, I dunno if she's gonna interpret your remark as a
compliment or not.....

Rosieee !
Fantastic flower and shots... surely you will be VERY lucky.
I was so fascinated by the flower's story....
Does it happens frequently near yr home to find botanical
rarities ... ?
