Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 22 10:18 pm)
Try restarting Poser and loading him into an empty seen. I got that once in Poser6, when I adding him right after another figure. I think Poser sometimes gets confused as to what figure it is replacing/adding and you get old pose data.

:) lol. Do people really do back render? I never ever see any. Coincidently I was actaully just talking about vein maps today with someone. Don't forget about PhilC's forum if you get stuck somewhere.

You know. I haven't done it yet, but this is a perfect example of what displacement is for. So many details and cut line appear and vanish during posing. Adding them by default is problematic. It is why knees in Poser become bicycle wheels. Certain things like forehead creases, muscle cutlines, veins etc differ so greatly from human form to human form that they are ideal as displacement. Otherwise you get 10's of thousands of extra polygons for something you render rarely with clothing etc. In a few weeks I'll be able to show you want I mean. It might make more sense when I have an example to show. btw: I actually have a pic of that statue. Excellent drawing!!!!! You should try displacement maps!!! You obviously have tallent in the B&W media... Give it a thought!

Anton, do you really think so? I dont even know how to begin...and actually I dont really know exactly how and what are displacement maps and how they work...based on the image above would you be so kind as to enlighten me? Thanks for the compliment...Im planning of doing another drawing seen from the front, but so far havent been able to find the right picture...

Displacement maps are grey scale images like bump maps. The value of light and dark moves the geometry at rendertime. Programs like Zbrish allow you to deform a mesh and automatically convert to displacement maps. You can do them in Photoshop. I have seen it done well. But takes experimentation. See these links. http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=1740708 http://www.polykarbon.com/tutorials/displacement/displacement.htm http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=2163903 http://art-design.smsu.edu/yarberry/Courses/Reference/DisplacementMaps/ One of the main reasons I din't make yet another 80,000poly figure is that they are slow and much of what is done with morphs, like forehead lines, are best done with displacement. LaurieS is already starting with putting them in clothes. We had talked about ages ago. see the image in the link. All that is is an image map put in displacement creating the illusion of new geometry. Everyone should be doing this.

Hi Anton, the problem with poser displacement maps is they don't work in vue and I render all my stuff in vue. Love esther
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
Displacement maps are certainly interesting! But they only work in Poser 5/6 firefly, right? Dante, You should check it out Stonemason's Freebie..The Gargoyle head that uses displacement maps It's amazing! http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=2269354 I think it's a good idea to experiment with displacemet. imho, Apollo needs more details in several places like the back, hands, and feet. Vein maps would be great too. Perhaps P4 could use the displacement map as a bump map. bB
that happens. Bast his hands and feet are detailed The toes pose indivdually and his hands/feet pose/scale better than any other simmilar figure currently available. His thumb has been described as one of the best bends ever. Don't know if theat helps you at all. Just so you know. Hope that helps!

Quote - Do people really do back render?
Yes, I do. Often I'll pose a figure and then use the Y rotate and find that the pose looks a lot better from a different angle, and many times that angle is from behind.
