I am trying to make part of this mask prop appear broken so I decided to try to make my own trans map. Now the way I understand it is black is transperent and  white visiable correct?

Well when I load the map and set the value to 1.00000 in the material room and render you can still see part of the mask I want gone :( any ideas of what I did wrong?

HEre is a picture of the render version

Specular needs to be zero or masked off and you can use the same map as the trans map

not sure what you mean by masked off. I would like to try to keep the specular value if possible but not a deal breaker could you explain a bit more please? thank you.

is the trans edge set to 100% and fall-off set to zero?

If you can, provide a screencap of your material setup.

Make sure Transparency_Falloff is 0. Poser transparency can vary with viewing angle and if did not program both transparency and transparency edge identically, you will get variation. Unless you're *trying* to do that, set falloff to 0.

Make sure that you plug your mask into the Specular_Value.

Poser transparency is very flexible and can implement "nothing here" as well as "clear plastic here". The difference is whether or not you allow a specular reflection in the transparent area.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
