almck1@hotmail.com ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 7:43 AM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 6:52 AM

Is anyone else having trouble paying for purchases by credit card at Daz. I've been trying to buy Painter but get told there is a problem with my cards. I just us it at RDNA with no probs so whats up at DAZ. I e-mailed them yesterday but no reply yet/ Alex

aleks ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 7:46 AM

no, couple of hours ago was all fine.

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 7:47 AM

The staff doesn't work on weekends at Daz. I've had trouble with credit cards and PayPal since they started the new store. I've had so many problems I figure at this point they probably wish I'd quit shopping there.

curtskinn ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 7:48 AM

I have never had a problem with them. They have always taken my credit cards with no problem whatsoever.

Caly ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 8:19 AM

Perhaps it's an address issue? Daz wouldn't take my card until I got rid of commas and such in my address. 123 Sesame Street, Apt. Trashcan vs 123 Sesame Street Apt Trashcan

A week or so ago - someone brought this same problem up - It was resolved by making sure you were "logged in" to the site! Try that :)

almck1@hotmail.com ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 9:01 AM

Thanks for the responses. I know I was logged in and my address has no commas or full stops. Just have to wait till Daz replys to my e-mail. Btw I have bought from them before they started the new store with no problems Alex

queri ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 9:14 AM

I have similiar problems tht I never had before-- the first time I post my numbers for the card they always seem to register wrong, I check that I'm logged in, I am, and then the card is all right. It's very strange. Emily

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 9:47 AM

I've been logged in. Used credit cards I've used before. Tried Pay Pal, which I've used successfully at other sites before. It's not that their customer service isn't good about trying to straighten it all out...there is something wrong (for some of us) in how the store processes. For example, knowing I can't pay via PayPal without considerable trouble, I wanted to change to a different credit card and see if that would work. It wouldn't let me do anything but use Pay Pal. I tried cancelling the order and deleting all payment options so I could start fresh. All that accomplished was eliminating my opportunity to buy what I wanted from Platinum Club (which only lets your order once). I'm on the brink of giving up. I don't know what they did to their store, but they need to revisit it. And for all of you about to write in about how you have no problems and life is perfect, bless be you.

VI_Knight ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 10:10 AM

I had that same problem a couple weeks ago. It turned out that when they created the new system, somewhere in the transfer part of my address was duplicated and this was the problem with may other people. (Mostly just the state and zip). They did correct this problem but one thing you will need to check is the charges on your credit card. My card had gotten charged three times. That was the amount of time I tried before I called tech support. The problem was quickly fixed once I brought it to their attention after they had fixed the original problem with the address and they even threw in a voucher for the inconvenience.

alamanos ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 10:41 AM

it's also possible that if you used your card twice on-line with in short period of time on multiple web sites. YOur card could have been blocked for 48 hours. This has happened to me before, new meausres for anti-fraud. Not really Daz, might be the credit card proccesing company.

serendipity ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 12:52 PM

I've had that problem at Daz recenlty. Customer Support handled it rather quickly, but that was on a weekday. I'm not sure what caused the problem though. As others have mentioned, double check your credit card statement to make sure you're not charged multiple times.

rockets ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 12:57 PM

My problem was with Daz and Paypal...it took about 4 days, but finally got it resolved. I'm not sure why Daz has such a problem with Paypal...'rosity breezes right through a Paypal transaction and I get my download immediately.

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 1:00 PM

The issue with too many charges within 48 hours isn't the issue for me (though it could well be the issue for somone else). I don't even seem to get charged more than once. They have sent me multiple notifications to download, which I think was customer service struggling to resolve my problem expeditiously. I haven't heard from them today...I guess I'll skip the Platinum item I wanted, but I'm determined to get Noggin's dragonfly, even if it takes me all week. Sigh. It should be this difficult to spend money.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 1:29 PM

Yeah I can't understand why Daz haven't automated their PayPal either. It works, but usually takes a day or two to get your download that way. Now when it's POSSIBLE to automate PayPal, why doesn't a (relatively) big company like Daz do so? That said, I have yet to find anything to complain about with Daz. It just puzzles me.

I had a problem like that the day the new store came out. I got a notice that there was a problem with my card when I submitted the order but then got e-mails saying my purchase went through. I sent a few e-mails the next day trying to straighten it out. I eventually called when I was at home and literally within 2 minutes of dialing they had resolved it for me and I've had no problems since. My lesson was to just call them if I wanted a very quick response.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 1:59 PM

Sure that works fine if you're in USA. For us poor people in Europe it's not just "like that" to dial up someone in the US. First of all it costs a fortune (more or less - and no, toll free does NOT work abroad)) and not all feel competent in speaking english :o)

One issue that came up was spaces or dashes in between card numbers. Corrected by entering credit card with no spaces between numbers. Thought that they had fixed that though... worth a try

I am terribly sorry for the inconveniences that many of you have gone through. We're still implementing new pieces of code. For example, the automation of our Paypal service should be finished by early next week. We're also still investigating possible credit card issues as we've introduced much tighter credit card processing measures, due to an increase in fraudulent orders. We apologize for the bugs that we've had to squash in the process, but we hope that you feel that the overall performance of the store is improving. The wishlist feature of our store should be finished sometime soon as well, along with several other key features that will improve your experience at DAZ greatly, we feel. Please be patient with us, our support staff is still quite busy with emails, though we usually respond within 12-24 business hours. Thank you for your patience, Steve Kondris DAZ Productions, Inc.

Thanks for this explanation Steve. It's always nice to know that our problems don't fall on deaf ears. :-)

ryamka ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 6:18 PM

Yes, but see part of that IS the problem (the deaf ears (and no, I am not picking on you becuse you made that statement))... You guys (Rendo users) keep, week in and week out, posting your Daz-related/creditcard/"site not working" complaints to THIS forum. Last time I checked, this is not Daz. They are not required to look here, but do so out of customer friendliness. Here is a really big hint... Hold on... You ready?!?! Why don't you try... calling or emailing DAZ when you have a problem?!?!?! WOW!!!! That is Pulitzer Prize winning material there. - Ray

rockets ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 6:52 PM

Well Ray here's a newsflash for you...I for one do email Daz when I have a problem. This last time around I sent at least 8 emails to various people at Daz. My response to Steve was to thank him for letting me know that he and others at Daz do care enough to check out the forums here and respond accordingly. I agree that they aren't required to check out these forums, but I'm glad to know that they do. Sorry if you have a problem with that.

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 23 June 2003 at 8:00 PM

I also contact Daz first when I have a problem. Sometimes we post here because we can share information about whether or not there is a problem on the Daz site for any of a multitude of reasons, or give hints. I personally am not complaining about the Daz customer service I have received....I was just letting another person know they aren't the only ones having problems. Not everyone knows that Daz is not staffed on weekends and holidays...I see nothing wrong with sharing information I have with someone else that's a member of this forum.

We do always give top priority to emails and phone calls that we receive, though we try to stay informed with what's being discussed online in the community so that we can always have a feel for the problems/needs/joy of our customers. As you can see from our website header, we're in the process of adding our own forum specifically to increase our contact with our customers. Hopefully, that will help alleviate any load that we may cause other sites to carry. Thanks again, Steve Kondris DAZ Productions, Inc.

Many thanks to your infinitely patient staff. I am sure I'm becoming somewhat notorious for my convulted problems with the store. Your staff has been very kind to a wild woman. I appreciate it very much.

Will the Gift Certificates be back too? I went to buy one last week, only to find that they were gone. Or am I just going blind?

I got my underwater cyclorama last night. It took a manual override of the automated system...sometimes there just isn't anything better than the human touch. :) I agree...the forum will be a good thing. But I suspect questions will still show up here. It's the nature of the beast.

Good morning dialyn...I think the forum will help immensely and I'm really happy to hear about the automated Paypal system about to be immplemented.

I also had problems trying to make a purchase ever since the new billing change. After about 2 weeks trying, I gave up on it. I'll wait several more months before I try purchasing again. Besides, it got me to curb my poser spending. :-)

wgschick ( ) posted Wed, 25 June 2003 at 2:54 PM

I recently had a problem ordering through Daz. My total order was 'bout $95, and thinking that using PayPal instead of entering a creditcard everytime would be easier... i tried PayPal. THREE DAYS later (business days) my order finally was processed. you click to order with paypal, then someone emails you to send paypal your order info (which you have to put into PayPal), then they send you confirmation, THEN you get to download. what a PIMA. i think i'll stick to CC next time. My two cents: i like the "old days" (3 weeks ago) when you could shop and have your stuff in 3 minutes, not 3 days...

dialyn ( ) posted Wed, 25 June 2003 at 8:49 PM

For the first time in a few weeks, I was able to place an order with the Daz store and immediately received permission to download. Noggin's dragonfly is mine. Mine, I tell you! All mine!!! Very happy. It takes so little, really, it does. I did use the same credit card that has been rejected twice before (because I never learn from experience) but this time it sailed through the process. Yes, I am happy. I'm off to play with my dragonfly now.
