Subject: re: e-on site log in issue

Gini ( ) posted Sat, 30 August 2003 at 6:07 AM · edited Sat, 01 February 2025 at 7:42 PM

I just bought Vue 4 ( Mac) and am trying to log in to get the 4.12 update and my log in just keeps getting rejected. I am registered on the site ( tried to re register and got mssg saying I already am) checked my password, its correct, has this happened to any one else ? is there anything I can do about it other than e-mail tech support and wait until next working week for a reply ?

Thats bad:-(. Maybe shot down your computer and then try again from the beginning on. I'm so sorry for you, but I don't see another issue (except waiting for next week:-( ). And absolutely check again your serial (it's case sensitive). Guitta

sacada ( ) posted Sat, 30 August 2003 at 6:33 AM

I also just tried to login to e-on to get the latest beta (found it on the link instead) and was rejected as invalid serial, though I have been on many times before. Maybe there is an issue on their site.

gebe ( ) posted Sat, 30 August 2003 at 6:39 AM

OK, I have just tried it with my serial. I'm refused too. Access denied.:-( Guitta

Gini ( ) posted Sat, 30 August 2003 at 6:43 AM

Guitta, ,-I have tried all sorts of things but with no luck. You know how it is when you have a new thing and want to get it all in place and get going !!! ; ( Sacada, maybe thats it and I'll try later in the weekend again. Thanks for the info.

sirkrite ( ) posted Sat, 30 August 2003 at 8:02 AM

I've had a problem too. Every time I try, I get a popup asking me to log on first and when I check my connects, it has been switched to "Work Offline" This happens every time I go to E-on's site. I think there is something messed up in there page scripting.

Veritas777 ( ) posted Sat, 30 August 2003 at 2:08 PM

I am REALLY PISSED OFF with E-ON about this. I've been trying for about TWO WEEKS to get the 4.12 update from their website and could NEVER get in. I have sent 6-7 emails to them, WITH my serial number and address info, asking for direct email help (send me a link to it or something) but have only had one little email from their websmaster say "we are trying". This is the first time that I have something really NEGATIVE to say about E-On management. There has to be something very SERIOUS going on with their company for things to be so SLOPPY and PATHETIC in the way of support!!! As a related RANT: I think that ever since they made the commitment to supporting the Mac and then having to support all forms of P4-P5 import issues, from Curious Labs that has their own BIG PROBLEMS- and which will likely soon replaced by DAZ STUDIO anyway, and their their LOUSEY Open GL driver support- and finally their big link-up with Amapi, which nearly every modelmaker I know seems to hate, all leads to the BIG QUESTION- Is E-On headed OVER THE EDGE??? AND- will the new group taking over BRYCE with Windows-Only Support (dropping the MAC) come ROARING BACK and take over the PRIMARY WINDOWS (90% of the User Base) MARKET from E-On Software??? I am starting to DOUBT E-On's future, I am afraid to say...

sirkrite ( ) posted Sat, 30 August 2003 at 2:52 PM

Okay as far as getting a popup to connect: Just close it and click on (Work Online) in IE and then you can go forward. As to the log in thing: Did you try the defaults log in? Email address and zip

Veritas777 ( ) posted Sat, 30 August 2003 at 4:20 PM

Yes, I tried it many times, and it doesn't work. I WOULD THINK, that by contacting them DIRECTLY, and clearly ID'ing myself as a REGISTERED USER, that they would help me via EMAIL or providing a link. Their TOTAL LACK of a helpful response is what REALLY WORRIES ME. I have rarely had a need to contact them over the years, since Vue 2, but whenever I did, I usually got a response with 24-48 hours via email. It seems now they are totally REFUSING to help registered users at all. It is VERY STRANGE and has me wondering about what is going on at E-ON SOFTWARE. Also VERY STRANGE is their NO SHOW at Siggraph in San Diego. They should have been one of the HOTTEST items at Siggraph with their Mover software and ability to do nice quality 3D animation with Poser character import. Having NO BOOTH or other visible representation (from what I've heard) is a very BAD SIGN in the software BIZ. Renderosity folks reported that Siggraph was one of the BEST shows for 3D Apps to be seen. Even limping-along Curious Labs was there. Where is E-On? What is happening at their company? Are they going out of business? Being bought-out by someone else? SOMETHING IS GOING ON, I THINK. It's all too strange...

Gini ( ) posted Sat, 30 August 2003 at 6:06 PM

EEEEK !Well I'll wait and see if I get any support feedback ............not much else I can do ! Especially as I want to import pz3's from Poser and 4.12 seems to have the relevant fixes for the bugs with that . So it's a 'watch this space ' I guess. I wasn't too impressed with how Safari links weren't connecting, when I switched to IE all the links worked but still couldn't log in.

I'm using IE 6 with all the latest patches and 128bit cypher- works everywhere else- but I have noticed that for some reason EUROPEAN websites are the buggiest for me. I don't know if its lots of strange JAVA code that Europeans seem to like to use, or what, but nearly all US websites that do any serious business don't put up so many weird software hurdles for their customers. Some people don't seem to realize that simplier websites are MUCH BETTER if you want MOST PEOPLE to visit and DO BUSINESS. Its also a SECURITY ISSUE if weird software code is freaking out my browser and Norton software. When that happens I also leave, since evil viruses can be dumped into your computer using home-brew weird html pages. Most US websites got over the weird software kick about a year or two ago after they saw so much of their customer traffic drop off. BTW, you can import Poser files with Vue 4.10- if you have that version and are using P4 or P4 Pro-Pack.

sirkrite ( ) posted Sat, 30 August 2003 at 8:02 PM

I think there support people might be a little tied up with the beta of 4.2.

Veritas777 ( ) posted Sat, 30 August 2003 at 9:07 PM

That is NOT a good reason for NOT supporting your existing customer base. 4.2 has been dragging along for a VERY LONG TIME. I know that I am NOT demanding P5 support, which is what 4.2 seems to be mostly about. It seems like E-On has gotten dragged into this idea of supporting BOTH P5 and various MAC OS's as well- and yet it will ONLY GIVE THEM EVEN GREATER HEADACHES!!! The MAC OS problem is a mess in itself. Most people at the Poser Forum sound most definately like they will NEVER buy P5 and are waiting for DAZ Studio!!! I am one of those people too. What E-On is doing is making the Windows users (about 90% of the market) and the P4-P4 Pro-Pack users, (probably also about 90% of the market) BEAR ALL THE PAIN and EXPENSE of E-On's chasing a TINY FRACTION of the marketplace- for what realistic reason? By the time they get only HALF the P5-MAC problems solved DAZ Studio will be entering the scene. Somewhere after heading towards Vue 4, I think E-On seems to have made some bad R&D decisions, wasting their time and resources on strange wild-goose chases. One last big potential horror NOW is- what if DAZ Studio (which is likely) offers some kind of Ray-Tracing plug-in? DAZ Studio will most likely want to MATCH and IMPROVE (if not completely fix) the continuous problems plaging Curious Labs and P5. DAZ Studio will likely offer WORKING OPEN GL rendering, with both P4-like Phong Rendering and Vue-like Ray Trace rendering. If you combine these and a few other things well, its almost like having-- 3DStudio MAX!

rds ( ) posted Sat, 30 August 2003 at 9:25 PM

Gebe why not give e-on a phone call and let us know what you find out? Seems like an easy solution perhaps. Regards, shoop

rds ( ) posted Sat, 30 August 2003 at 9:28 PM

Perhaps the server got one of the many viruses? Don't just jump to negative conclusions until more information is brought forth.

BigGreenFurryThing ( ) posted Sun, 31 August 2003 at 11:40 AM

There are issues with US users trying to access European sites.

I've rolled out a couple of websites recently for UK organisations with a US customer base. In both instances the sites were hosted in Europe and ,in both instances, a very small number of US customers complained that they couldn't see or interact with the sites.

The most probable cause (please note the word probable here) is the caching used by certain US ISP's. If you're US based and having trouble accessing a site hosted outside the US, try refreshing the browser with Ctrl+F5 (IE6 only). If that fails, complain to your ISP. You're paying for external connectivity to the Internet, not internal access to their caching boxes.

P5 isn't that bad, however, I have to agree with Veritas777's general comments re: E-On's no show at Siggraph, Vue's lousy OpenGL support and Daz's forthcoming software. Spot on, mate!

Cheers,
Mark

I was myself surprised, as I always had used my serial to login at e-on's site. But this has changed, I'm stupid, e-onsoftware had to explain it to me:-) To login for the updates, you need 1. to introduce your e-mail address 2. write your ZIP CODE, not your serial. Then it works. Good luck:-) Guitta

gebe ( ) posted Mon, 01 September 2003 at 3:48 AM

Big Green: E-on's server is in the U.S.A, not in Europe:-)

BigGreenFurryThing ( ) posted Mon, 01 September 2003 at 4:09 AM

Ooops, that'll teach me for not checking. Thanks, Gebe.

sirkrite ( ) posted Mon, 01 September 2003 at 8:26 AM

I said to try that didn't I? ;D

Veritas777 ( ) posted Mon, 01 September 2003 at 12:49 PM

Still doesn't work for me. And why won't E-On tech support return my emails? I have sent 6-7 over the past two weeks and NOTHING has been replied to, except reguarding the website issue a single "we are trying" from the webmaster.

Robot17 ( ) posted Mon, 01 September 2003 at 2:17 PM

Everybody goes on vacation this time of the year in the states (until the 1st). May have something to do with it. Weird they weren't at SIGGRAPH though Bot

Gini ( ) posted Mon, 01 September 2003 at 4:02 PM

I've been putting in my post code since I installed Vue on friday and I began this thread and it hasn't worked to get me through to the updates ............. didn't hear anything from tech support today either. BTW -I have Vue 4 ,version 1. Does that mean 4.10 or just 4.1 ?

I had this same thing happen to me over a year ago. I just stick with what I got.

gebe ( ) posted Mon, 01 September 2003 at 11:17 PM

Maybe you did something wrong. Please try again, this ONLY works for already registered users. If you have not registered your copy at e-onsoftware, you will be invited by a small blue text on the page to do so while surfing as described here: 1. http://www.e-onsoftware.com/ 2. Click UPDATES 3. Click Vue d'Esprit 4 4. Click "Click here to get the update" 5. Give your e-mail address (the one you have registered with e-on) and your Postal Code (ZIP) - click ENTER 6. Click the Arrow at bottom 7. Choose the update for your OS. (Always take the FULL update!!!) This works. If ever it doesn't for you, please tell me exactly what you get and where (when) you get an error message. Guitta Guitta

gebe ( ) posted Mon, 01 September 2003 at 11:21 PM

And, Gini, if it doesn't work for you, send me by IM or e-mail (NOT IN THIS THREAD!!) your registered e-mail address and your ZIP, I will then try for you and if it doesn't work either, I will communicate these to e-onsoftware so they can try.

e-on ( ) posted Tue, 02 September 2003 at 12:04 PM

Yeah, what Guitta said. E-mail and ZIP code, unless you changed it to something else. Gini, I got a note from Guitta about your problem, and I'm going to look into your registration to see if anything is wrong. I'll get back to you. Regarding support, we answer all questions posted to our technical support center usually within 24-48 hours (yesterday was national holiday). But, if you send questions by e-mail, it's very possible that you won't get an answer: we get thousands of spam every day on those e-mail addresses, and our spam filters occasionaly delete valid messages (especially if you send the same message to several addresses). That's one of the reasons why we setup the support center. We didn't do Siggraph this year because we were busy finalizing Vue Pro. Also, last year's Siggraph was a bit disapointing... Hope that helps clarify things. Best - Steve Bell

I get the feeling (and always have) that we over across the pond are not E-Ons favorite peoples. Too bad.
