Hello All,

All members should have received an email notifying them of the domain name issue. For the time being, please use http://64.191.53.128

This will grant normal access to the site until the issue is resolved.

There seems to be a good deal of speculation regarding PoserStyle as of late and we would like to take a few moments to present a few facts.

Releases:

The following is the release date information for PoserStyle Products released since the beginning of July:

7-4 Vicki Wolfs Pact Style Textures
7-7 Chihara Texture for V3
7-8 Millennium Girls Pre-School Expression Construction Set
7-8 Multi-Figure Combat 3 for Mike
7-12 The Portal of Laythar Sett
7-14 V3 Pose Construction Set
7-16 Mike's Extreme sports outfit
7-16 Millennium Girls Pre-School Custom Character Construction Set
7-20 Mike's Workout Animations
7-23 Mike Pirate
7-26 V3 Character Construction Set
7-28 Victoria2 Extreme Sports outfit
7-31 PoserStyle Chess Club
7-31 PoserStyle Chess Set
8-1 Multi-Gloves
8-1 Poses From The Past
8-9 Extreme Sports Headgear
8-13 V2 Martial Arts Outfit
8-25 Musketeer Add-On Pack
8-30 CyberSaw
9-3 Dragon House
9-3 Michael2 Martial Arts
9-11 PS-Hair #1
9-18 Vicki Ronin Texture Pack
9-18 Interactive Pose Construction Set
9-25 V3-Martial Arts Outfit

Although this fell slightly short of what we wanted to accomplish, we did at least think we did OK during this time considering we've given our members twice the content they've paid for. The 13 'extra' releases given to members during this time period were done as bonuses. Products given that were 'above and beyond' what members originally paid for. Our way of saying thank you to the members for being a part of PoserStyle. We did fall short at the end of August in attempting to bring you more 'extra/bonus' releases. We are currently two 'bonus' releases behind. Members will see these in the very near future.

We will of course continue to give more than is required of us because we do appreciate our members and it is the most direct wa we have of saying "Thank you for being a part of PoserStyle".

ShoutBox

From the time the shoutbox rules were posted, the shoutbox was an experiment in progress. Because there was no auto-notification when a posting was made, we asked that members needing assistance use the support system or webmaster address to request help since both of these methods notify us immediately when a posting is made. There is no such notification for shoutbox messages. The shoutbox was removed with the intention of bring back a later version with custom scripting that would allow us to receive a notification with each posting. When we are finished with the modifications the shoutbox will return.

I don't believe there is a single member who subscribed to PoserStyle because the site had a shoutbox module in place. I do however apologize for any stress or inconvenience that has been caused by it's absence.

There is of course more to talk about, but at present time I have to contend with the issue at hand. After the problem is fixed, I will continue this discussion on the site.

Take care all,

Will

I can't fathom why on earth you posted this here, but as of the last time I checked (about five minutes ago) not on the Poserstyle site itself. The main gripe most members have with Poserstyle isn't the number of releases or the withdrawal of the shoutbox... it's the lack of communication. Technical problems with items are reported and no fixes are given. Releases are promised and then don't happen, with no explanation. Changes are made to the site with no updates to members to let them know what's going on. Until that situation improves, you're going to see a lot of dissatisfied customers.

Marque ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 9:11 AM

And what about the time slip on the subscriptions? You only come in here when folks start talking about leaving in droves, why don't you take 20 minutes to update your site? And if you aren't going to use the preview area why have it there? I have sent you numerous emails and also mentioned in the shoutbox that my remaining subscription time was not accurate, and nothing. It is not acceptable for you to come in here once in a blue moon to explain why your pay site is not working correctly, you need to deal with business on your own site. What about people who don't frequent Renderosity? (I know that's hard to believe but there are certainly some who don't). Patience is won with honesty and communication. Marque

Dave ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 9:36 AM

Preach it, sister. Communication could definitely be improved. Even when you do use the website address it takes forever to get a response. Just checked my inbox and havent gotten any email about the domain name issue. Wouldnt have known of the solution if I hadnt stopped in here after not being able to reach the site. Also I dont know what kind of scripting your using for the downloads but Watchguard doesnt like it. I've been having to download stuff here at work cause my home computer is temporarily unavailable. Watchguard complains of "octet/stream" and blocks the download :( Cant complain to the SysAdmin cause they grumble anytime they have to make an "exception" to what Watchguard will allow thru. Dave

I don't care much about the Shoutbox. ;) I think most people don't care about the non-professional web-site/lack of web-site updates. I'm also sure plenty of people are willing to ackowledge that Server problems happen. But you guys seem positively plagued with server issues! And disappearing time issues. And it has been months since ya'll said you'd be fixing some textures... I did not receive an e-mail about the IP numbers either. Statements like the above really need to be made on your own site. As someone pointed out, not everyone reads these forums. And it seems you guys really need to work on your Communications.

I'm gonna start by saying that I really liked what I got during my sub period at PS: the models were first-class. But I too got a little frustrated with the continual server problems and having to find out through postings here what was going on. And the straw that finally broke it was after your last major collapse, when you agreed to extend everyone's subscription as compansation. At the time I thought, hey, pretty nice -- until I had to remind whoever's in charge of subscriptions that you folks had done this. Will, c'mon -- that shouldn't be my job. You guys have a great site with great product. Please don't screw it up with poor customer service management.

RHaseltine ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 9:59 AM

The switch from name to numeric address was ages ago - sometime in the spring I think. Not sure why it's suddenly biting now - discontinued auto-redirect, dropped off your History, typing rather than using a bookmark?

RHaseltine ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 10:01 AM

Just checked, my bookmark to the IP address was created 20th March this year.

fauve ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 10:02 AM

And by the way, like everyone else in this thread so far, I never received any email notification about problems with the Poserstyle domain. You should check whatever program you're using to do your mailing, since it doesn't appear to be working properly.

MachineClaw ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 11:11 AM

Will Whitney thank you for posting. Love the content real value for my money and I've been very satisfyed, thanks again.

wgschick ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 11:21 AM

First, I did not receive an email notification of the server issue. Second, Will I'm going to agree with the fact that, no i did not join PS for the shoutbox. I Joined for the products. I paid to join. I didn't think I was paying for: A subscription that counts down days left at an excelerated rate. Constant server problems. Issues with releases that are not fixed. Commitments to releases made and not delivered. No communication (or rare communication). NO ONE HERE IS COMMENTING ON THE QUALITY of the product. It rocks! In some cases, it beats the hell out of a lot the other stuff available. It's everything that supports the product that we are having issues with.

sturkwurk ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 11:31 AM

Quality - awesome communicatoin - less then stellar... never received a renewal notice, nor a response from my email wanting to renew. Doug

I came, I rendered, I'm still broke.

jade_nyc ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 12:40 PM

same for me Doug - no renewal notice, no response to my email to renew, so I didn't.

Koda ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 1:19 PM

HI I love the quality of the items. Communication problems are what bothers me the most. Sometimes it has taken over a month to get a response to my email. I never got a notice when my subscription expoired the first time and with the site going down as often as it does its very frustrating since you can not reach anyone and I also have not seen the email mentioned above I agree that more active communication from the site would make me feel more secure when I renew Keith

Marque ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 1:45 PM

No one has said the quality of the items is a problem, they are top quality and I have liked most, with the exeption of the last texture that was never fixed and the little people type stuff. I just think in this day and age of email you should be able to get a shorter response time and not be totally ignored in some cases. If you take my money and don't give me an answer when I have a question that is annoying. Even an auto response is better than nothing and doesn't take that long to set up with an explaination. Marque

GraphicFoxx ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 2:03 PM

I didn't get an email talking about this either. And about the domain, I've had my bookmark set to numerals for as long as RHaseltine has. Content is great, but more contact is needed.

Site Admin

My only complaint is the utter lack of communication. No, I did not join for the shoutbox (although now that it's gone I miss it :) )I joined to get the great models in the previews. I got them, plus everything that came out since then so I'm satisfied that I got my money's woth and then some, but I would like to see an improvement in the communication problem.

dlfurman ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 6:19 PM

Add my name to the list of the missing. I wanted to (and still do) want to renew. The content rocks (as stated above), the lack of keeping in touch needs some work.

Well I can't get on the site at all, and I never got any email telling me about an ip address to go to. Anyone want to give me a hand with this so I can use my last 5 days? That is if I still have them. Thanks, Marque

Marque ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 8:36 PM

Never mind see it up above. Let's see, 3 hours ago I have 5 days, now I have 4. Marque

i'm interested in hearing if Marque get's a response. aside from the response to the public flogging, there have been none for a month. let us know what happens. thanks!

nontroppo ( ) posted Sat, 27 September 2003 at 12:01 AM

I never got an email about the numerical URL either. Found it here instead the other day. This is now posted on the site too, which is about as useful as hiding your spare house key inside your impenetrable house. The content is brilliant - I love it. And I can handle a few broken promises with regards to bonus items or slightly late releases. I doubt these guys are doing this as their full-time job. The communication does suck - I can't think of one possible good reason why it has taken this long for a PoserStyle rep to surface at last. Come on guys, you have a great product here - if there are problems then keep your customers informed.

elizabyte ( ) posted Sat, 27 September 2003 at 12:18 AM

The issue here seems to be that nobody at Poserstyle has any clue how to run a business. The products are WAY cool, high quality, unique, but if we, the customers, can't renew our subscription, can't get to the site, don't get notifications, can't communicate with the administrators, how motivated are we going to be to stick around? I'm not handing over any more of my money until I have good reason to believe that the situation will be resolved and SOMEONE at Poserstyle will be willing to take responsibility and deal with customers' questions, and generally run the site appropriately. It's a shame that I feel this way. I really like Poserstyle's stuff. I just don't like the rest of the nonsense that goes with it. bonni

You guys go to Poserstyle to talk? I've only ever gone there to download goodies - lotza luv

Marque ( ) posted Sat, 27 September 2003 at 9:07 AM

No I don't go there to talk, so the shoutbox meant nothing more than a way to try to get the attention of the adminitrators of the site when emails failed to work. Marque

wgschick ( ) posted Sat, 27 September 2003 at 9:50 AM

exactly.

wgschick ( ) posted Sat, 27 September 2003 at 9:50 AM

still no email regarding the down site.

wgschick ( ) posted Sat, 27 September 2003 at 9:51 AM

my subscription went reduced itself 9 days over 7 days. this seems to be a common complaint here with no response (like THAT'S new)

Marque ( ) posted Sat, 27 September 2003 at 9:58 AM

No reply to my email either. Oh well, I'll go buy some chrome for my bike instead. Marque

mickmca ( ) posted Sat, 27 September 2003 at 10:19 AM

I let my subscription expire in August [I think; who knows what calendar they expired it on ;)]. I picked up everything I wanted, loved it all, and saw no reason to renew when the downloads started tapering off and this principal or that disappeared/reappeared [Is Xurge still there since he joined RDNA?]. The communication stuff was a major PIA, like having to scream to get the bus to stop. And I constantly had the problem (long after I reported it) that most of their downloads are not zip files, but files containing zip files [This caused, among other things, constant false announcements from my browser that my downloads were incomplete. I discovered after a while that if I manually extracted the extensionless file inside the download, THAT file was the correct size and could be unzipped if I added a zip extension to it. Don't ask me; I'm just the messenger.] These are guys who should go back to selling full-time to DAZ, or in the PoserPros store [I wouldn't wish RMP on them; they seem to be Ok guys]. I'll probably come back in a couple of years, pay the subscription, loot, and walk away again. Sad but there's not much point in working with them any other way; it just ain't worth the hair-pulling. M

RHaseltine ( ) posted Sat, 27 September 2003 at 1:59 PM

Xurge was at RDNA before he started doing stuff at PoserStyle. The downloads come in as standard zips for me - must be a quirk in the way the site responds to your browser (which they should have looked at, of course, if only to tell you how their system worked so that you could look at your browser settings).

wgschick ( ) posted Sat, 27 September 2003 at 8:15 PM

well Xurge created a couple really cool items for ps a while ago, (the middle earth outfit rocked!!!!), and then we received a note a couple weeks back that his computer was having trouble and we haven't heard anything since.

ellemat ( ) posted Sat, 27 September 2003 at 9:33 PM

I'm on this site every day and sometimes more than once a day. If it hadn't been by wgschick's message in the PoserStyle forum, I STILL WOULD NOT HAVE SEEN THIS MESSAGE. What's the purpose in posting here and not a peep on your own site? I guess some reply is better than no reply but I guess this is more for the benefit of potential new members rather than old or current ones. I haven't gotten any messages of any kind from PoserStyle either and methinks its kind of odd that no one has and most of the familiar names are here. My subscription petered out a few days ago. I was one of those who was very vocal about the lack of communication as were a couple of others I see posted here. With few exceptions, complaints were always about no response from the administrators. For the life of me, I don't think the message could have been plainer. I don't know about you guys but when I plunk my money down I expect the courtesy of a reply when I have a concern. Even though I feel I got my money's worth in the past...I'd still be worried about future dealings with the seemingly invisible staff.

pjbear ( ) posted Sat, 27 September 2003 at 11:47 PM

ditto to all. Igot so confused that I had put off getting my downloads until they got their act together, being too busy to waste time fooling around. Now I am wondering if I will ever figure out how to get back in and catch up.

Marque ( ) posted Sat, 27 September 2003 at 11:56 PM

This is what I just got back.... : Sorry, I couldn't find any host by that name. (#4.1.2) Nice huh? Guess I shouldn't have bothered to try to email them. Marque

Did you try the numerical link given above? If he's having a domain problem..it would effect everything listed under Poserstyle.com, including email.

argoforg ( ) posted Tue, 30 September 2003 at 8:30 AM

Well, it's an attempt at communication, at least, WHW. I think when I joined up, I also bookmarked under the IP address. I could see the reason for posting here if the admins honestly thought that most people had switched their bookmarks to the domain name (as I think they suggested on their front page a while back) rather than the IP. But I'm with a lot of people in that I'm confused as to why the first major communication about the problems happened here rather than at the Pstyle forum.

ellemat ( ) posted Tue, 30 September 2003 at 9:04 AM

Obviously the site was reachable when there were members posting in the Shoutbox routinely and then when that was taken down, in the Forums. My take would be that posting here was more to appease potential new members. Other than a very, very, short blurb now appearing on the home page regarding the domain, nothing close to what appeared here, members concerns have still not been addressed.
