Subject: Closed-Minded Fascism Mindset In The Poser Forum?

Veritas777 ( ) posted Fri, 29 October 2004 at 3:35 AM · edited Tue, 10 December 2024 at 5:46 AM

I'm being constantly attacked by a certain some group of people here at the Poser Forum- a place I have been a member of since the very earliest days of its existence. I use Poser every day. Some of those out there have a very CLOSED-MINDED idea of creativity and are against anyone presenting any sort of alternative to the Proscribed Party Line that certain people are attempting to ENFORCE by means of intimidation and bigotry. Go look up INTIMIDATION and BIGOTRY and you will see that certain people are using their tactics to enforce their police-state views on who can say What about Using Poser. Poser Pro-Pack is a product of Curious labs. It has features P5 doses NOT have. Pro-Pack is still an EXCELLENT program- I use it on Windows XP. Certain people are trying to enforce a Police State mindset at the Poser Forum that the Poser Forum is only about P5. It's NOT. Just because people use Poser 4, or Pro-Pack, does NOT make them second class citizens here! Curious Labs made Pro-Pack for the OBVIOUS reason that people wanted to import their projects into Lightwave or MAX, or other programs. But, according to certain people here, that is HERECTICAL and ONLY POSER must be used or discussed. Curious Labs has a very friendly relationship with E-on software, makers of Vue. Vue imports Pz3 and Pzz files DIRECTLY- Further it imports Poser 5 dynamic hair and cloth. People are currently working on importing nearly all Poser 5 materials- since Vue 5 can handle them. If I am using Pro-Pack to import Poser models into other software, I should NOT be the subject of THREATS, INTIMIDATION and BIGOTRY by these =P5 ONLY!!!= fascists... SURE- there ARE other Forums here- but when you are using Poser, quite often Poser is linked to MANY other softwares out there. Does this mean we cannot talk about ANY OTHER software here AT ALL- other than Poser 5? This is Crap! I've NEVER seen a forum ANYWHERE where certain people will not allow any sort of cross-pollination of creative ideas involving different software programs... So certain people need to stop being closed minded anti-creative thinking, anti-progressive bigots...

Here's some friendly advice: Turn of the screen, realize how good it feels totake a deep breath, go outside for a walk, get some coffee if you want to. After you return you will notice how there is no anti-ProPack conspiracy and it's all not as bad as it seems.

Poser rendering indicates rendering in poser -- have you found some magical means by which to run Vue from inside Poser?

NO! There is ONLY one app in the world! - Poser5!! There is only one model! Vicki3 - with Big Tits and a Sword! But seriously though, you (Veritas) do often get jumped on for posting anything about other apps or issues - anything not specifically and uniquely Poser - be it about Vue, about anime, about toon technique, about film, whatever.. Ive seen it many times and got as irritated as HELL by the attitude you get hit with here. So I partly agree with you, Veritas. Ive also seen you get attacked for being a DAZ lover and supporter - just because you happened to post a positive remark about a DAZ product or service - I forget what it was. The attitude is restrictive and gotten more and more so over the years in this forum - a lot of amateur police in here with tin hats on, lol. So keep up your unorthodox style and posts - livens the place up. Fish - been here forever, staying forever

"But seriously though, you (Veritas) do often get jumped on for posting anything about other apps or issues"

I haven't seen him get "attacked" per say (if that's what you mean). In fact, what most people on this site consider an attack is quite mundane. However, I've seen him go apeshit when someone challenges his logic. Basically, if you're going to boast that something is great or "the best choice" over and over again, then obviously people are going to challenge you on it. It's not like he makes one post about something, but he'll start a thread, then subsequently follow up on his own thread multiple times (often with disjointed capitalizations of his words) until someone finally responds. I think that's what gets people going.

"So keep up your unorthodox style and posts - livens the place up."

I agree. I don't want to see him stop posting at all! I think his posts are fun. Brings some character to the forums.

Veritass, I have to agree with you after having seen this not just in this forum but the galleries and such. You have to understand that many of these people are just not comfortable learning new , innovative technology they are just not the explorer , experimenters that you are. Dont get mad , you should feel sorry for there state of mind and ignorance and refusal to beleive or try anything new that is outside of box scope. Having said that, I am also a firm believer that if you can reach / expand just one person in your concepts and thoughs that you have done what you set out to do :) I am looking forward to your Vue 5 findings as I agree it is a amazing program and renders quickly and beautifuly and ultimately thats all that matters :)

P.S. For a idea of how small minded people can be look at this image and the negative comments that have come from it being "too real", also note the positive from those that are aware that it is capable :)

I've said it before (indeed, in the post that he went off on), but I'll say it again. I like him, too.

Veritas does need to post here. The thing that set him off is that I've gotten mighty annoyed that his current kick with Vue (which is a respectable app) has led him to post to threads not with helpful tips or answers to particular questions, but with what are essentially advertisements to use Vue instead of Poser.

Which is fine -- in the Vue Forum. Being passionate about Poser (and not just 5), I do not take well to indefensible expressions of it's inadequecies, and most especially when they are erroneous.

I've stood up for him before, and I'll do it again. This isn't a "personal" thing -- I'm not angry about anything or upset, on my part. Were I to run amok in the other forums (which, granted, are typically more serious than ours) posting how you can do all that stuff better in Poser, not only had I best be able to back my statments up, I had better have pretty thick skin.

There is a good thread about using Poser and Vue together -- a request for help, notably -- that is fine. His posts don't meet that essential criteria.

Nor am I picking on him. Anyone who's observed my posting nature will note that I will post on pretty much anything that catches my fancy, and that I am strongly opinionated (which is a nicer term than what else it's been called elsewhere).

My opinion in this case is based on the oft stated current purpose of this forum in specific. If that changes, odds are pretty damned good that mine will change too.

I don't mind off topic posts, either -- even the ones that don't have OT on them (as they should).

Essentially, it comes down to specifically the manner in which his posts are inappropriately expressd in terms of their relevance to the topic at hand and the purpose of the forum.

and my hat is not tin. It's felt. Nice dark shade of green, too... (edited after reading ARADtech's post) Ahem. raised eyebrow But nice pic. how the pic is made is irrelevant. Thinking outside the box is one thing. Scribbling all over the walls of it is another.

In all seriousness its not what veritas says about VUE,the "SIMS" or DAZ studio. its his blaring "infomercial" style uber enthusiasm for one latest and greatest "innovation" after another and his angry hyperbolic responses to those who arent as exicted about his latest "discovery" as he is :-). For those who dare endure rosities search engine, search the DAZ,Lightwave,3DMAXand bryce forums and you will find where Veritas started a similar "Crusade" on behalf of DAZ Studio a few months ago one thread was locked after he went into angry attack mode against us users of those pro-level apps who did not agree with his wild assertion that DAZ studio rendered just like lightwave,MAX and so on . We get it already that Veritas is very excited about vue5. at the moment what we find amusing is how angry he gets when others dont share his enthusiasm and starts calling names as he did During his DAZ Studio and Sims "crusades".

Wolf is right. I remember his Daz Studio crusade. As I recall, he only got "attacked" by people when he started posting Daz Studio renders in the high-end forums and claiming that they looked as good as renders from those particular apps. He did that in like 3 or 4 different forums (Max, Lightwave, Bryce, and maybe C4D). The only one he didn't hit was Maya I think. LOL. The reaction of most people to his latest crusade for Vue is really a reaction to the pattern of behavior he seems to exhibit whenever he finds a new toy. I have to admit, I love it. Wish I had half his enthusiasm. ;-)
