Almost... you forgot one last step - w/o any further arguments for or against, here's the concept: In Open Source, the freedoms you mentioned would apply, but the derivative would have to be given away or sold under the exact same conditions as it was received. Something like this... If AM were open-source, you could: 1) take bits or all of it and put it into your product, for sale or for free, BUT... 2) ...the derivative you made and distributed [i]must[/i] be allowed to have the same thing done to it that you did to AM (that is, someone else can take your "product" and then put bits of it into [i]their[/i] products, and so on). Does this mean that Anton somehow loses control of it? Nope. People making items for it would (for obvious compatibility reasons) stick w/ a single predictable configuration... AKA the "official" version. I'm reallty turned off by what I equate to republican pollitical spin. I would buy a figure for good money if the figure is good. Don't try to sell me this bill of goods about how "the figure is free". It is not.
And... I would never buy a car that I felt the manufacturer was going to pull up stakes and leave the industry at any moment. "Yeah, but the car was free". The car was free but I had to buy the windows, seats, steering wheel etc... Now where's the car maker? Gone? What?
The negative feelings of that happening go right along with the model every time it is loaded into the scene.

The figure is free, and Anton is also including all the content that he ever created for it. And, to be honest, if merchants start to sell more content for Apollo Max, then so much the better. OMG! I'm being forced to buy things! Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. This is utterly fantastic news.

crikey, I just remembered - I ought to flag it to the man Anton himself - the default hand size is a tad too small and folks sometimes get great renders done, but forget to upsize the hands and that really distracts the viewer of the final render. I'm off to the CP forum to mention this.

For those who don't have UTC...since V3 and M3 can share textures, will M3 textures be able to be loaded onto Anton's template?
And yes, this is very cool news! I'm really impressed with how he's doing this. Quite an innovative idea! :)

I guess, according to Steve, author of UTC, little things like nipples, navels and lips don't always line up perfectly. So if you have UTC you may want to run a texture through that first and the use his technique to apply it to Apollo.
I'm curious though, he was a bit vague on how to export the converted V3 texture to Apollo from Poser after it's been converted. Can anyone elaborate on how to do this??

Since Anton's going to be using the Poser Firefly render engine for the conversion, you just save the converted texture as you would any other image file in Firefly. Or you can probably save it as a MAT file in the Poser library as well.
But we'll have to wait and see if it works out. But Anton is pretty good with making his ideas turn into reality, so it should be fairly easy :)

Ok, I'm really new to texture understanding and I don't have a clue what this means...do you mean you can take a skin texture that V3 uses and convert it to a male and then put it on Apollo? That seems kinda weird and cool at the same time.
Also...why would you want to do that? Wouldn't it keep the fem features and make Apollo look like a drag queen?
Sorry for my feeble attempt at humor, I'm not try to be difficult, just truely trying to understand how UTC is used.

Well, this isn't UTC, but it should work in a similiar way. And basically, since V3 has the largest amount of textures, and that the other Unimesh characters can share textures, if you make the template to convert V3, then the other textures (for M3/D3, L/L, etc), can be used.
So, no, you don't have to use V3's MATs, just a unimesh, which are all based off of her mapping.

Ok, something else to put on the list of things to learn.
But that's not all. If you have, for example, a great texture for Michael 2, and have UTC and the plugins needed, you can convert M2 textures to V3. Then, run it through Anton's process, and you now have Apollo wearing an M2 texture.

Yeah, that's my understanding too Jeff. For sure it's not just to turn Apollo into a Female - that's just a pet project of mine. It'd be far better to have a different mesh and rigging appropriate to the female form and bending.
Hopefully Anton's texture converter will open up all those male textures for other unimesh figures for use with Apollo.

It makes a lot of sense to have the male genitals as a separate prop, although imo it would make more sense to just have them be part of the figure with a morph to flatten or hide them, for conforming clothing that's intended to look like a tight fit. I am really looking forward to checking out Apollo when Anton releases him.
Does anyone have any clue when this will be released?

BTW Wolf, I take it you weren't aiming for realism with this Arnold morph, because if you were he might want to get that fluid build up in his legs looked at :)...J/K. Was this rendered in Poser? The lighting is beautiful realistic in it's subtlety.
If we can hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominos will fall like a house of cards...checkmate!

I know how you feel - I posted a picture where I just did a bit of playing around to show how different he could look in the 2 other threads about Apollo coming back (at Daz on pg 9 and CP on pg 17) and didn't get a single comment :(. May as well post it here, too, I s'pose.

still he
'puffs' up but without that defined separated muscular look one typicly sees with hyper masculine

particularly in the deltoids and quadriceps above the knees
and his back is completely undefined
but this poser rig( apollo) makes a great freebie
and it s good to see it being offered again
Thanks. The pose is a slight variation of one of my freebie ADS poses for Cole Apollo (see Renderosity Poser freestuff - search for 'Apollo').
The textures were the defaults with displacement maps from the 2006 pack.
I don't use M3 at all , and I've seen a fair few customised face morphs & textures in Apollo renders, so nothing really sang out as being that out of place in your pic to me.

wolf359 - know what you mean about that very defined muscularity. I don't often need that muscular definition in the characters I'm interested in, but I was always hoping someone might have a go at a high quality displacement map for some of that detail for Apollo.
PDXJim did one as part of his 'Apollo Lives' product that added a little more general definition, but I think it could be taken a lot further.
I'm quite happy with where you can take Apollo (especially with Cole). Cole does offer some nice back muscles I've found.

:) thanks Alisa. I'm really wanting to update some of those ADS characters quite soon - new tricks, better observation etc. I'm a constant tweaker. I've wanted to get some new morphs out for expressions too, but I've only got a couple completed so far.

you don't need a morph for that...just use ice water!
