My concern about Apollo is that since he's non-distributable, if Anton takes his site down, he's gone...
WandW- you took the quote right out of my mind! "....you were right- take me, take me.."
I am just stumbling into Apollo. And he is about to vanish? Only to be rendered by those who have already downloaded him? Much like the Yoda figure for Poser that seems unavailable. that!

Wow joequick, congratulations on creating some amazing characters for Apollo. Superb ! .... I wouldn't mind seeing you release a morph pack for him.And having a website "Apollo Forever" (maybe as a "brother site" to PosetteForever ?) sounds like a great idea.
Site for and about Apollo? Sure sounds good. Just dont use that other site as a model.
They will ban you for NO reason other than you showed friendship to DPH ON ANOTHER SITE ENTIRELY! (yeah it happened to me) bunch of crackpots run that site. (my personal opinion btw).
da squid, home of the $99 basketball squid?...;)
After cataloging everything in my runtime, I can state with some assurance that where other characters have 5-6 morphs, it was rare that I had less than 100 for Apollo...;)
I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit
anahl nathrak uth vas betude doth yel dyenvey..;)
HMM interesting Not sure about what "other characters" you have installed
but M2 ,which is now free,
has:
"Features- Michael 1 .Obj
This of course Excludes the now free Boris Morphs
and BTW for M2 Users I have been given permission
to redistribute the free "spubba troll" morph that give M2 larger hands, wrists& Feet
I will PM me if you would like it as well
see attached Image of the Morph.
Cheers
Techno Bad Boy is autodesk/Softimage Facerobot compatible
So you can use it with motion capture hardware and software.
besides that, Bad boy has Mimic pro visemes and autodesk motionbuilder visemes
There are allready a few packages availlable for it
Because it's a new character, many morphs will follow in time :)
This character is made with the eye on compatiblity between packages like autodesk maya, motionbuilder, softimage and 3dsmax.

pakled: nope dasquid as in the sailor. US Navy sailors are called squids.
I have a friend who was a submariner-he said they called themselves "termites" because they were so pale after spending 3 months underwater...

Speaking of which, I'm kind of surprised that Turbosquid still exists... what with a zillion free mesh websites (Archibase, etc), I'm impressed (not in a good way, but, well, kinda shocked) that they're still a going concern.
Sure - on the pro level, one can expect to shell out a bundle for a 4k-poly royalty-free and unique mesh, but one where it's likely that others have the same critter? Wow.
PS: dasquid, daswabbie (hehe), daseaman... same-same. Not the site, the person. :)
I really like Apollo and have collected a number of characters for him, also some clothes (mostly from PoserWorld). I would certainly be very interested in a preservation site.
Poser 11 Pro, Windows 10
Auxiliary Apps: Blender 2.79, Vue Complete 2016, Genetica 4 Pro, Gliftex 11 Pro, CorelDraw Suite X6, Comic Life 2, Project Dogwaffle Howler 8, Stitch Witch
The default pose is great for draping clothes. Arms down, thumbs up. Very natural. The palms down T pose is not a good choice at all and every other Poser fig I've seen uses it. Arms up/thumbs up would be best I think.
The head is a bit brutish which can be great. He's not rez-heavy, very efficient topology. Great character, I'll never stop using him.
I think Apollo is a great figure and he is not update at all.
To have a Apollo forum will be great, but the problem is who is going to make it ....
I encourage other users to post some of their Apollo renders here.
Versatility... and shoulders!
I came late to the Apollo dance. I started using the figure while M3 was still the dominant male figure and V4 was still fairly young. And M3's shoulder's were just inhuman and wrong. I think Daz recognized this, because David's shoulders were a huge improvement, but at the time I started using Apollo David also cost money. The Freak cost money. Luke cost money. The baby cost money. And to have a figure that was free at that point, with so much versatility, and human shoulders. It was just great.
Apollo is also from that old school train of thought where you've got a head texture and a body texture... And you don't break things into torsos and limbs giving people more seems to match.
Finally, enough can't be said about the textures that come with Apollo. Other textures have come out. But once you really start exploring what's included with the figure (and you take a look at theh quality of any third party textures besides the incredibly unique and well crafted Maqua), and you realize they kind of pale in comparison to the default Apollo textures.
An Apollo Forever type fan site sounds like a good idea, but I would suggest making it more like a wikipedia than that other site, don't want to get accused to stealing ideas do we?
ps now that I can get back to using Poser again (short break due to OS death) I'm going to reinstall Apollo & get rendering with him.
Windows 7 64Bit
Poser Pro 2010 SR1
I haven't used Apollo that much, but the attraction is the same as for V3: they do what a figure is supposed to do. They take morphs beautifully, and don't look like the same figure in every render. As joequick's link shows, you could use a dozen Apollos in one render, and they wouldn't look like clones.

Does Wardrobe Wizard work well with Apollo? I have Crossdresser, and the arms never come out right, there's always tearing when you try to raise them. What I wind up doing is using CrossDresser to convert the item, drape the resulting mesh, and then use obj->cr2 to rig it. That's how I got my sweater/shirt combo in my self portrait. It used to be for V3.
Carodan, great stuff. I definitely have not utilized Apollo to his greatest potential. I think this is a great figure for anyone to add to their library; and hell--he's free along with some decent clothing.
Wardrobe Wizard generally does a great job with most every figure. It even comes free with Poser 8 if you don't have it joequick. The add on module for Apollo is quite reasonable (less the the cost of a full outfit). If you have Poser 8, you certainly can't go wrong with buying the Apollo module and experimenting.
:)
Textures - well, yes. Here's one of those creative Apollo moments. I ended up doing all kinds of Photoshop re-hashes and blends for various Apollo characters.
The most recent Old man used a blend of Quint for Apollo and Talus, selectively using certain elements from each and sometimes softening some parts of a map using another (being careful with the seams of course).
I think I started with the older Quint texture as a base but used Talus's face (a softened version I adjusted beforehand) to remove the beard. I did a lot of other stuff to those blends with the clone tool and healing brush to remove specular and areas of diffuse colour that didn't seem to work for me, and to even out the overall skin tones and details (I remember removing a lot of the Quint wrinkles and creases on the face that conflicted with my morph, and added in new creases using a custom displacement that wasn't so different from the freebie one I put up ages ago).
In short, I've customised what there is available to create new options. I take quite some time and care with this. I'm sure some of this could be done in the material room, but I find customising in Photoshop gives me utimate control.

Seems no offer until now. If you guys still need forum for apollo, I can make one for you.
But I already have one that I have to maintain (www.forum3d.net) and I'm not a native tongue in English.
So I need volunteer(s) for moderator. If I can get supporter(s), the forum (that can attach images and zip files) and gallery will be ready in few days.
I have been working on a site with an Apollo forum, it is up and running but needs more work on the look of it. Mainly templates. I went and purchased site spinner pro for making templates but am still figuring it out. LOL.
It's here: poserpub.phantom3d.net/phpbb3/index.php Not much of a site yet, as I said earlier, dont know much about making web sites, I am having to figure this out as I go.
cheers,
Mike.
Good someone likes the forums, I like it too, and learning to set them up. I thought the free stuff forum for each appropriate subject would help to keep some organization to it. Well it's there anyway. I am hooking up a gallery to it tomorrow , it will be integrated.
Well I could make it an Apollo only site, but I would have to drop everything else I'm doing. Cant do that :) I'm not sure about this gallery software yet, but I might be able to make a separate Apollo gallery.
Yetsu: If you would like to make a site for Apollo, dont let me stop you, I was building a site anyway, so it's not going to hurt my feelings. You could likely do Apollo more justice as you know what you are doing and I do not. Since CP closed there has been no where to go to read news about the figure, would be nice if there were.
Peace.
Mike.

I offered because I thought there was no offer about apollo's forum. According to my experience running forum over three years, to install and setup forum software is easy part, most difficult part is daily maintenance (security update, database optimization, installing and updating extensions like gallery, and avoiding SPAMs) . It's bothers me, so I'm glad if someone can do.
And if you are using rental server like DreamHost or something else, you can setup new domain (site) easily from control panel without deleting current contents.

You're not kidding ! I am just now working to install- set up the gallery,:scared: I dont understand all this code at all. There is step by step instructions but it is still daunting. I guess I better save a full backup of the site befor I start, so I can reload if I mess it up. And yes I am using a rental "my domain.com"

I don't know what kind of gallery you are installed. But if it is Gallery 2, you may check Gallery 2 Codex Page for integration.
I'm sorry, I don't know about phpBB3. Once I've setup phpBB1 for my friend, but mod (extension) install/uninstall is very difficult, especially for Japanese translation. So when I start my forum I chaged to SMF and Coppermine Gallery, because more easy mod install/uninstall and integration.
Basically, for integration (or bridge) with forum and gallery software, you don't understand the code but you should know your forum and galley's installed directory structure exactly, and use same database.
Quote - I made a texture for Apollo "BE4Merlin" but now I forgot where he is marketed.
Guess I better find out...lol.He textures beautifully as well as scales and poses great.
