Subject: What Needs to be fixed in the forum?

shvrdavid ( ) posted Mon, 13 April 2015 at 4:54 PM

All you really have to do is a little investigation, and you can see where and who the site is linked to. .

Consumer Affairs lists them as 1 out of 5, and not accredited. 52 out of 53 listed gave it a 1 out of 5. 22 gave it a 0..........

Average response time to complaints it listed from a few months to a few years.

I would have to guess Rendo is stuck in a contract with them, like may others that have complained about the lack of service and horrid websites.

All of this is public information, and can be found by doing a few Whois checks.

The Better Business Bureau has pulled the hosting companies in question ratings pending a review.

This does not tell who actually does the programming, but it does tell where it is hosted along with the thousand of complaints about them.

I seriously hope thry can get away from this company before they are stuck in the Weblock extortion program. If you opt out of that, you will loose you web name at renewal and have to pay a hefty fee to get it back. Don't believe me? Look at the class action suit from 2008 and see how well that went.

NINE days, no response from Renderosity Admins. It's becoming rather obvious that they just don't care. If they do, they sure seem to have a funny way of showing it.

Do we have any names of these "admins" and "programmers" that we're supposed to be waiting for? I don't get what the delay in a response is but as far as I'm concerned these are the worst "admins" I've never seen in a while. And as for these "programmers", well... they managed to destroy a once esthetically appealing site and left an ugly husk of large stupid fonts and wasted space in its wake. 640x480 and 1996 called and they want their designs back, because the way this forum looks right now is embarrassing.

Under the Header above where it Says ABOUT US, click  on the dropdown list  "RENDEROSITY TEAM". To be honest,  I'm rather surprised that this particular thread has even lasted this long and hasn't been locked or deleted. However, now considering their apparent apathy in fixing the forums or responding to our concerns, I have to reiterate... I just don't think they care.

Not to jump on the mr.complainy pants bandwagon but I too agree that the old site was much better looking and seemed to function better. Most of these aesthetic things I guess we're just going to have to get used to. Miffed that some of our prior liberties with how we interacted with one another on the forum have been removed, in particular attachments.

Don't know if it's been mentioned before, but if you copy a piece of text from somewhere in your message, and paste it somewhere else in that same message, it doesn't copy the formatting, things like Bold and Italic etc.

For example, if I were to copy that line I just wrote, and then paste it somewhere else in this message, it will copy the words, but it replaces the formatting with markup rather than show what the markup is supposed to be setting.

I am going to be in Murfreesboro, Tn in Jun (I have relatives that live a few blocks away & I am from Nashville originally).  I am going to go by and chat with them about their shitty service.

No, I won't be getting myself in any trouble.  Just talking in an even tone of voice discussing the "quality" of their service, such as it is and what there is of it.

It looks like the forum is randomly stripping the images from posts and replacing them with the URL.  Was just watching the videos on page 3 of the pirates thread and noticed that Seachnasaigh's Roxie Jukebox render has disappeared.  I've noticed this happening before but can't remember where it was now.

You aren't being ignored, I've been communicating with the admins.  and they are working on things ... I'm not privy to the details and don't have "names" but I am assured things are moving forward.  Sorry, I've been doing a lot of things in the forum and with the FAQ update and neglected this thread.  I do apologize.

If it seems I've been a little quieter, it's not at all because I've calmed down and I'm "getting used to the changes". The forum is acting more fucked up than it did a week ago.

I am more pissed off than ever and seem to be dealing with a management team that likes to hide how they can't handle the situation.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

bagginsbill ( ) posted Sat, 18 April 2015 at 5:48 AM · edited Sat, 18 April 2015 at 5:49 AM

Just because getting myself madder is a hobby, I went back and read what the management team has said about the changes and problems.

(See this thread for originals statements -lots of complaints which we're still having - no difference)

This is the one that has me staring wide-eyed, saying "Whaaaaat?" Are you fucking kidding me?

Thank you to the programmers for these updated and amazing forum changes. Awesome Awesome, I LOVE IT!!   These changes (like all others) are based on member feedback from survey's, forum requests, sitemail requests, emails, etc . Unfortunately no matter what there will always be some that don't like any changes and we understand but these changes were made based on mainly due to member feedback so we think that most will love them and that makes us very happy!!.  Sometimes it's a matter of getting used to new things but once given a chance it all turns good!!

This is self-congratulatory delusion of the worst kind.

I have no faith in the situation until this statement is explicitly retracted, and a detailed list of what is actually being done is provided.

I haven't heard of anything RodS. How long have your email notifications stopped?

What do you mean you haven't heard of anything, Kimberly? I have been complaining that the ebots don't work for six months. WTF do I have to do to get somebody who can read, understand, and respond accurately and without delusion to the issues?

Blimey, I wonder if what David points out at the top of this page has something to do with it then.  I've not bothered to look into it (I'm not visiting any WHOIS), but if they're hosted by some scam outfit as David seems to suggest, I suppose there's a chance the site could be being tampered with in order to force them to pay-up to leave.

Wow! They redesign the entire site based on some "member feedback" (so accommodating!), and then for the next six months they are absolutely blind and deaf to any and all feedback on those changes? Because it's Awsome Awsome, apparently. So... someone actually asked for the sitemail notification icon to be removed huh? Sure they did. And someone actually asked for the really big-arse fonts in just a few places (to aid legibility or something? Presumably legibility wasn't an issue everywhere else)? Riiiight.

We should probably be thankful none of this "member feedback" asked for Comic Sans fonts everywhere...

LOL, they might should be careful that the member feedback says the store should look more like Renderotica. Oh......wait.........

Ach, the only  change today, is that I no longer have to buy a Samsung. Now they want me to buy a Seat car.
Well, from phones to cars, nice way to go in a Poser forum.

The only thing being OT , (and be asured, I will NEVER write an OT tread any more. . . .) The only thing being OT is Renderosity itself.

Tomorrow , when I come back they are probably selling bread and butter in the Marketplace, next to their Seat cars and Samsung phones.

Oh BTW, I pulled my free stuff. I"ll upload them back to a 3D site somewhere.

Have a nice day all.

OK, own up which idiot actually asked to have all your previous forum response text deleted when you do a copy and paste, just so you can type it all again or more likely, give up and not bother with a response.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

The person and/or persons that owns Renderosity also owns Bondware (the makers of this forum software), I'm pretty sure ;). So, it's not like they can "get away" from the company since they ARE the company ;). At least that used to be the case. AFAIK, the site has not changed hands.

Just got a notification that Cybermonk has sent me a message, I don't even know who Cybermonk is, and when I logged on, there's no message.  So if you're reading this, Cybermonk, I got a notification that you sent me a message, but no actual message.

I'm starting to wonder if my messages have been disabled for some reason, seems odd that others can generate a notification, so no doubt it's in their outbox.  I don't get that, and I just tried again to send a message to Vilters and Clarkie, still dosen't work.

Wow. that's an odd one, I just noticed another bug!

In my post above I corrected the typo from "dosen't" to "doesn't" - and I know it took because I checked.  But now, after a page refresh a while later, it's decided to undo the spelling correction I made and spell it wrong again!

Put it back I tell you, put it back :-D

Wow, I just went over to FB, to see if the admin were busy posting over there. And wow, some of the stuff posted. Really, supporting a business that discriminates because it goes against values you don't hold as your own, just because religion is involved, and on a FB account that you spam Rendo stuff on. This makes even more sense now, as to why certain things have been the way they are where I am concerned. I think from now on, I will just buy from the artist directly, give the full Rendo price to them if I need something from now on. I can't support a site which the head admin blatantly supports inequality of any kind. Religious or not...

I am not on Farce book so I can't really comment on that aspect. I would however, quite happily not shop here ever again and that has nothing to do with religion.  Trouble is it leaves me with the uneasy feeling that I am punishing vendors because they chose a broker that seems to love messing things up and has/had holes in their order process. The compromise I have come to is that I will now only purchase from the vendors who I follow and who's products I have purchased for a number of years.  My spend so far this month, if you ignore my render reward, is down to less than 25% on average and I think very hard before I reach for my credit card.

Things always must move forward , but forward can be many directions ;-)

I dont find these forums to be a problem, but I would love to be able to attach text files  for passing python scripts and material files without resorting to "heres my email".

It worries me a bit (not much actually) that I thought renderosity was owned by Bondware which makes websites as its business. Maybe I have that wrong but I can understand a website with limited knowledge and skills having issues, not so much if websites are your business.

Anyway, relax, have a drink, I believe the moderators and Admins are doing the best they can.
