Subject: First Order from DAZ! - Reassure me? :o)

toashzadel ( ) posted Mon, 18 March 2002 at 2:05 PM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 1:49 PM

I have finally plucked up the courage and money to order from Daz! :) Tempted by a free Steph I have finally taken the Michael & Victoria plunge! I then read lots of horror stories about delayed orders and multiple phone calls! I don't fancy phoning DAZ from the UK! I hear that they have could custoemr service and will fix problems promptly, but how often do problems crop up? Also, how long do DAZ normally take to process orders? I stupidly ordered at 8:30am DAZ time on Saturday, and wondered how long does it take for them to catch up with the weekend rush? Any ideas? I know I am probably being silly, but my first order of Poser stuff (after buying the program) is also my first order from America, and the first purchase on my first credit card! I am a nervous wreck!!! Any kind words would be much appreciated! :) Thanks Steve

Hi, you should have been able to download soon after your purchase. Check your emails for your invoice and a download link for your models, unless you specified that you wanted a cd sent to you, then in that case it may be 3-4 days. Sharen PS: they are really, really good at delivering their products to you. Great Customer service too.

Steve, normally the order goes through immediately if you use a credit card. I don't know how long it takes them to fulfill other orders (check, CD, etc.) but their response time has always been fairly quick (even though they're only open Monday through Friday). If you ordered with a credit card and didn't get an e-mail almost immediately or didn't get sent to a download page, I would contact them via e-mail, since you're in the UK, and find out if the order went through. If you ordered via check or money order, I don't know what to tell you. Kate

If the order was placed on Sat. then the download info should come today since Daz is closed on the weekend however as Sharon wrote check your email

You might as well PAY attention, because you can't afford FREE speech

Hi Steve You should check your e-mail like everyone says. Like you i'm from the UK as well so i was also nervous about the first order, but i've had very few problems, one of the problems i did have was mine, my hard drive went wrong taking a lot of my Daz products with it!!! one e-mail for help to Daz and they sent me a list of all the products i had ordered, then they gave me a link to a special download page they set up for me so i could retrieve all those i had not backed up!!! now thats costomer care. All this was very quickly sorted out by e-mail, so no expensive phone calls. Everybody is right though Daz are very good at dealing with any problems, they seem to put the customer first which is nice too see. May you have a long and enjoyable partnership with Poser, Daz and many of the other great Poser developers here. Welcome to another Poseright on this side of the Pond David :)

I order from daz3d with credit card all the time, been doing it for years. I also sell brokered software on their site. I've never had a problem. You should get an invoice and download page moments after you place your order, plus three email invoices and download links will arrive a few minutes later. If you do not get a download URL right away, email: sales@daz3d.com or call the 800 number listed on the web site.

Rest assured, they'll take care of you. I bought Vicky 1 when she first came out. Then the clothes pack; Mike 2; a dragon; some textures; downloaded Steph for free; other props, etc. I downloaded each of them immediately after the transaction with out a hitch. I bought the Vicky Updo hair this Sunday afternoon (PST)and Mike... er Dan Farr himself processed my order. I'm totally happy with DAZ. I'm gussing you didn't notice that you had been directed to the download page. I missed it my first time, thinking it was just a confirmation. An e-mail to AnneMarie (sales@daz3d.com) will probably set you right.

Though I've heard of some people have had some trouble, I've bought dozens of models and textures from DAZ and never had a problem. If you're having trouble figuring out how to download your stuff, just give them a call. I am sure they'll be happy to help. :) Jay

I'm in the UK and have never had troubles downloading products. If you miss the immediaate download page, you should receive a link viaa e-maill, which will be active for three days. If you can't get it within three days or have problems, e-mail them with your invoice number (which you can find, incidentally, by logging in on the Daz site and clicking 'order history', second or third or so from the bottom on the left I think, if you've not kept the e-mail receipt) and they'll sort you. In my experience Daz are very prompt with customer service. I wouldn't worry about your order. I hope you enjoy Mike every bit as much as I do.

Weekends are when you tend to see people post w/problems downloading from DAZ, presumably because if a problem crops up, nobody's there to fix it. But the one time I had a problem (out of many orders) during a 3 day weekend, customer service was still prompt and got things back on-track. I'd be more concerned about having your first credit card;-) Start with good credit habits; don't learn a lesson the hard way. I order enough online that my Visa number is committed to memory...but I still watch myself and pay in full each month. Anyway, congrats on the card and on taking the DAZ plunge!

MUAUUAHAHAHHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA!!! your first order, you poor soul! soon you will be placing weekly orders, and buying MORE stuff! soon you'll just sign your paycheck directly over to them. welcome to the dark side! heh heh! (eh? um.... oh. ::wanders off to look up 'reassure' in the dictionary::)

Hi Everyone!! Wow! First can I say thank you all!! You've been very reassuring :) I LOVE RENDEROSITY PEOPLE!!!! :) Just in case, the curiosity is overwhelming, here is an update/more detail! ;) I did get 3 emails from Daz almost straight away, but they were just confirmations, no links. When I ordered I did notice that I was on a download page, but it said pending, waiting for payment, I just assumed that nobody was in and they didn't have auto card debit, or since I ordered a CD burn they wouldn't let me download as well. I checked on my order history and it is still in a state of pending... I emailed Daz Monday, to apologise for my impatience, ask how it was going and if I would get a download as well as CD... no reply yet, but it is still early. I hate time zones! ;) A couple of things though: Hiram - Did you order on Sunday the 17th? ie after I ordered? or sunday the 10th? David + Steve - Great to know there are some more UK poser guys out there! :) how many of us are there? kbade - Thanks for your concern, I am very worried about getting into trouble! :( I feel like I went mad for my first order!! I have set up a standing order thing so the money gets taken automagically, hopefully that will keep me safe! :) bloodsong - cheers pal!!! ;o) actually I did see some very nice wings for sale.... and there's that fantasy bow too.... reaches for visa Thank you again everyone :) Steve

It could be that if you ordered a CD burn, you don't get an automatic download...at least not as a default option. If the order was shown as pending, it could be the international aspect, but most likely a tech problem between DAZ and whoever handles their merchant account. Oh, and if DAZ had some sort of tech problem over the weekend, you won't be the only one needing assistance, so it might be a day before you get a response (though usually not). And I would bet everyone here completely understands the impatience...we want our mesh and we want it NOW! As for the credit card, the automatic withdrawal (which may be "automagic" to merchants, but not to me ;-)) will provide some discipline, but it never hurts to budget...I always have a maximum monthly bill target in the back of your mind. Maybe you gover that number one month, but then you can work to spend under the target the following month. I just remember people getting their first cards when they went to University and ending up with big debts, bad credit rating, etc. It's so much better to avoid falling into that trap.

melanie ( ) posted Tue, 19 March 2002 at 8:51 PM

I always get my download link on the last page of my purchse transaction. It's way at the bottom of the page. On rare occasions, maybe two or three in all the purchases I've made from them, I've had a minor glitch, but everything I've bought from them has been very easy. They're a great company to deal with. Melanie

bloodsong ( ) posted Wed, 20 March 2002 at 5:24 PM

heyas; daz recently started doing automated downloads, and there was a glitch in the system a few weeks ago (when stephanie came out). i didn't get a link on my order page, or in my email that was supposed to have a link in it. however.... somebody mentioned you can go to your order history page and get download links, and i found my download there, and it didn't have to be fixed. to do that, you need to sign up with an 'account' at daz, when you place your order. (and not pay by check, those apparently aren't in your order history.)

melanie ( ) posted Wed, 20 March 2002 at 7:50 PM

I had to download my Stephanie texture maps via my account history. For some reason, the link never showed up. Several days later, I got an e-mail from DAZ apologizing for the problem. I hadn't realy realized it was a problem, but it was nice of them to do that. Melanie

YAY! I have got my order now!! woohoo!!! I phoned up and Reba set it up for me within the hour! Vicky is very overwhelming!! all those dials!!!

Crescent ( ) posted Thu, 21 March 2002 at 3:27 PM

Get DialMagic at Daz3d and the head dials will be much more manageable. Oh, dear. This is how the Daz addiction gets started ...
