I think the problem comes from there being so few of us. It's nice to be unique but when it comes to beta testing these things, well, the majority use Poser for stills. I've never beta tested anything to check whether it works for an animation and I haven't heard of any others doing so. I felt exactly the same frustration when Daz released the high res maps for Vicky. OK, they just about do work for a single render but when it came to multiple renders for an animation either it crashed the thing eventually or I'd have had to allow about a year for render time and radiosity, when it came to creating the criteria for that, I wish the developers had considered a lower light count alternative. When (if ever) version 5 does eventually crawl out of the labs I hope they don't chuck away the fast render engine completely, I don't have a spare lifetime to wait for a full dress rehearsal render if it's going to be as long as Lightwave or Bryce. It's not as though we're exactly an unapproachable lot, or a clique. Maybe we should abandon the animation forum and talk more in here about our woes......
If I read you right Wolf, you're not looking for solutions (you're probably aware of them anyway) but just having a grumble.... It is frustrating to have to spend another hour or so setting up just to fix glitches like these and even more frustrating when you think you've fixed the thing only to see an error on frame 105.....

I've had these problems ever since I began animating. My Solution? Bite the bullet and animate the clothes scaling, or add a magnet to the offending area of clothing and animate it to pull the clothes from the skin in the offending frames. Of course you have to go through all the keyframing/spline breaks etc to make it work right, but, for me, that's always been just another part of the process.
Just for the record : thanx for the praise, Wolf, and you're right, Ghost. Most of my freestuff is rather baggy clothing items, such as jackets and parkas. Trans maps are really the only solution UNLESS you set up the figure-with-clothes as one figure, like the clothed standard P3 figures. You can do this by exporting figure and clothes from the base OBJ's, removing all non-supposed-to-show material in an OBJ-capable 3D app, bringing the figure back in, and using Pro Pack or CR2 hacking to set it up as a new figure. It certainly is ironic that I have been experiencing ?poke through? with the Mike Suit Pak. I just been tweaking the model to eliminate the poking since getting the package. Then just today I receive an email from DAZ to download a Suit Pak update for the object file. This make the third update I have received. Is there something going on that I do not know about?

I think it is impossible to have thight fitting clothes without poke through in some poses. The figure and the cloth have different meshes and those bend differently. Without collision detection those meshes will sometimes intersect. And collision detection is probably too time-consuming for animation anyway.
I think you're perfectly right, Yuri. That's why I recommend "re-packaging" a clothed figure as one figure-and-clothes figure as suggested above. If you prefer not to do figure setup as such, exporting the clothing parts one by one, re-importing and using "replace body part with prop" can do a fine job in most cases. I know it's an extra chore, but animation is such a demanding task anyway, so a few hours extra probably won't kill the "time budget" ;o)
Hi If you are using other 3D application to render your animation you can create new material maps. I don't know C4D very well, but in Lightwave I'd open the exported obj file. Then I'd select the offending body part and create new material which I then set to transparent. In Lightwave it is very easy to do, a matter of selecting polygons almost like the grouping tool in Poser. Also, MadYuri is correct, Poser will not export body parts which has its visibility turned off via the hierarchy setting window.

Will poser clothing ever properly conform??
I have many Conforming clothing items both commercial and free
the option of turing off visibility of body parts works great if you plan on
only rendering stills in poser. BUT I animate in poser and render the animations
IN the true raytraced 3D environment of Cinema 4DXL7 so the skin poking
through will be visible in poser especially in animations
i should mention that the free stuff from THIP for mike never has this problem
( thanks THIP!!)
but many DAZ items do poke through and it very frustrating to have a cool outfit
that fits the requirement of my film project and discover it will be almost useless
without major compramises in my camera angles to hide the poke throughs.
and i really have no interest in hearing about applying some elaborate magnet setup
before i can even begin animating.
I really hope poser 5 addresses this!!
