Interesting....all of a sudden it looks "fixed", but I would like an answer to my more important point of this being a bug? /gz/Thread: Another good reason not to use Internet Explorer | Forum: Community Center

What's best about firefox is the fact that it is open source. Find a bug? report it, and it gets fixed pretty fast. Or, if you're like me, you can become part of the developer team and check code out and fix bugs yourself. Now that's cool :) /gz/Thread: Another good reason not to use Internet Explorer | Forum: Community Center

*"Ever consider that Mr.Grumpypants might just be telling you (or your friend) the ugly truth... the amount of crap that gets glowing appraisal from all of the sycophants who visit Renderosity is unbelievable. The word AWESOME is the most abused on this website!!!"*agreed, with caveats. I agree that there is just an overabundance of "crap", as you put it, that gets a glowing raving review, makes the hot20, etc. If you are going to tell someone that what they have posted sucks at least be able to site specific examples as to why. Saying it sucks is inflammatory while saying it sucks because the hot pink mountain looks rediculous at least appears constructive.
Not everyone needs their buttocks kissed to feel like one of the group. I personally would prefer honesty to buttkissing. I am part of a minority here I think in that everyone is too sensitive.
One last thing...not everyone can be all things. being honest can sometimes be the nicest thing you can do for another person. If I suck at something after 3 years of trying it...it might be time to move on.
These are of course just my views, they are not meant to start a flamewar, or insult anyone.

Great to hear! Now what I want to know is what the heck a GLAGGLESPLOTCH is?... :-) /gz/Thread: need an OT forum | Forum: Community Center

hehehe..dead horse..beating...anywhoooo want an OT forum go over to my site (as well as others). I speak for mine only, but it's no holds barred :-) link above /gz/Thread: is the gallery really biased? I think so | Forum: Vue

*Or is it people just comment on the other people they talk to*I think that sums it up beautifully. This happens in almost all the galleries I am afraid. Yeah, it's just like school... cliques form and if you aren't in them you don't get 1) all the raving reviews on anything you put out 2) tons of empty comments .. list list goes on. /gz/ Edited for typos..grrr Message edited on: 06/08/2004 18:47
Thread: WHAT!? ONLY 1 UPLOAD PER DAY!!!????? | Forum: Community Center
nor have I. Rosity has been a place for what I call "friendly exposure". Yeah, people are seeing my works but they are either 1) just viewing my pieces recreationally or worse 2) ripping me off as well. I wish I could get some clients via r'osity, but no ..... not yet :) /gz/
Thread: Is this new or a blip??? Forum display changed suddenly | Forum: Community Center
"...I just get so fed up with the whining round here everytime a change is made for the better. decide what you will about that comment and me, cos I don't care, so long as the site works, is fast and is here." Wow...that's what I call customer service :) Why the arrogance and irritation over such a trivial issue, admittedly? People like to know how many new posts there may be in a given forum..so what? Calculating that number puts too much load on the server? And calculating the total posts, and total threads doesn't? Less caffeine...relax, there are bigger issues to deal with ya know :-)
Thread: Webring Questions | Forum: Community Center
It may have something to do with the number of referrals your site generates. By this I mean how many people get to r'osity through your webring links. I remember I used to have periods of time when no one was referred by me for a period of time (30 days or more) then I would have to rejoin the webring. Maybe that's it? I think it's part of the agreement that if your site generates no refrerrals for 30 days r'osity can remove you from the webring (lame) Also, my site's webcode is valid so go to my site (!!!). Although I am no where near the top 15 either :( Hope that helps

..that wouldn't surprise me quite honestly. Sad to say it has become the norm in the software industry as a whole. Rush release a product to market to recoup some of the investment and to pay the developers, then fix all the bugs after the fact. In this case we are getting patches to fix patches....which blows, big time.

As for how they figured out what the problem was...it's not quite as random as it seems. They know what they "fixed," so they have a pretty good idea what they broke. :-) [rant mode engaged] Which is precisely why they need to do SERIOUS QA testing before releasing these SRs. I would bet they are not regression testing it at all. That is to say they don't test the entire codebase once making a fairly impacting change (as with the shadows). If they had regression tested they would have noticed the new bug before it was ever released. As a software developer myself I cannot believe the number of bugs and problems they let go out the door. And we're talking about SRs here that are supposed to FIX things, not break 'em... [rant mode disengaged] ah, I feel better. Code I write goes through extensive testing at least :-) -gz-
