LInear is hard motion. IN other words when you want the foot to go from point a to point b it does so at a constant. Whereaas spline interpolation causes the foot to overshoot a little and the speed is not constant. its the intent of spline interpolation to offer a more realistic motion. Problem is that sometimes(more often than not) those "overshoots" are extreme. I've set "placeholder" keys in the past and I still got all f'ed up. If your animation is all f'ed up then yeah, start over. but if its not too bad you can set key frames and change things with what you already have. But be careful because if you make 1 small change your poser dork could soon be auditioning for a role in the exorcist. Posers spline graph and "dope sheet" are at best mediocure(spelling?). For one it would be great to animate the body parts in layers(think photoshop). A little OT. Posrs walk designer is poor as well in that lets say you want to walk the character for 150 frames. You setup your walk path and unfortunatley the path is either too long or too short. Te character is basically just translated down the path while doing a walking motion. But eally the character is "moom walking" All be it in a foward motion. I suggest downloading Caligari TrueSpace. Its interface is easy as all get out. practice animating some of the boned characters it provides and you will get the hang of it. TrueSpace isn't perfect but it animates better than Poser. The animation concepts are the same across any 3D animation tool. Its just that Truespaces's is less sloppy.
Thread: What? You hate P5? PSHHH! Stop it already! Check this out! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"Hm. Ive had P5 for months now, and my only experiences with it are of continuous frustration; it is the most utterly unintuitive software I have encountered yet (and yes, slow too). So if I use it it is to pose a figure, export it to ZBrush (where, btw, an image like the one above is made in a matter of minutes), and edit it there. Meanwhile I keep trying to find out how I can put a pair of pants on my figure instead of merely replacing the figure by the pants ;-) But thats probably just stupid little me... " Yeah its stupid you. LOL. YOu need to read the manual. When loading an additional figure, say...pants for micheal, you need to click the double check mark. If you only click the single check mark, you are asking the pants to totally replace the currently selected figure(micheal). Upon the pants loading you then need to slect "conform to" from the file menu and then selct the figure you want to conform to. In the case of people charcters it will be "Figure "#" " usually.
Thread: First Animation on P5! All moves together..why? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yeah posers spline interpolation really sucks. Just the other day I loaded a character and ONLY animated the feet walking and also moved the waist to keep up with the feet. The result was that the charcter flew into the air, came back down and then started walking. I've never had a problem so severe in Truespace or MAX.

Oooookay? Now thats really screwed up. There are so many things about Poser that are either really bad or stupid I don't know why I even bother. MY trouble is that I saved a scene as a compressed file(pzz) I then loaded it up today and the thing doesn't seem to have retained texture data. F'ed up.

I also rendered a "sequence" I set Poser to render as a series of consecutive stills instead of an avi. png stills. Is this what you mean? For the movie ouput settings you need to make sure it says current render settings and you need to set it to render over black. pjanak

"which 'uninstallers' are you talking about? the ones in the store designed especially for Poser or the ones like Cleansweep that arent necessarily supposed to do what we want them to? (uninstall just a model or clothing..etc) " So sorry, I was refering to Norton Systemworks. Similarly it happened with "Unistaller" PeteJ
Thread: Dumping Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
However, thos various "unistallers" get confused easily. I had a prgram installed on a secondary drive. A large program. ON that same drive I have tons of downloads. The unistaller proceeded to unistall the program along with every single download in a complete sperate folder and they weren't even Poser stuff. For the problem that you all speak of, I would imagine that is why in Poser 5 you have a Downloads/Runtime/ in addition to the regular Poser 5/Runtime. So that you may direct your files to Downloads/Runtime, test them out and then just delete the offending files manually if you so choose. Then move every thing to the regular runtime filder that you want to keep. But I too would prefer the idea mentioned just right clicking on a menu item and have it delete all things associated with it. PeteJ

Thread: Question about B&W | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If yo9u mean colorize in the way that the old B&W films were given the "technicolor look" Then yes indeed there is a blugin. Its called blackMAgic It will colorize B&W ala Ted Turner black and white stills. Presumably based on the grayscale color. Anyway you will have to do each frame by importing the AVI as a series of stills or as a photoshop Filmstrip which is a container of ALL the frames that Photoshop can read. here is the link: http://www.neuraltek.com/bmagic/ PeteJ
Thread: mic 3 mimic 2 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you load the michael or Victoria Cr2 into mimic 2 Pro, you will get no results since they do not initially contain morphs. So what I do is create a secondary micheal and Victoria with all head morphs loaded and then save them as additional characters. I then load those Cr2's. So it may may a similar issue. Well looky there, Genny seems to state the same thing. PeteJ
Thread: ... Soft Bodies thumbnail too provacative? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm speaking as guy. For example, most straight men would love a woman to just walk up to hem and sy lets "F" Provided that the person approching were found to be attractive. And in some cases just the mear fact that they were approched in that way does great things for the esteem GAy or straight a guy will always be a guy. Women on the otherhand don't feel this way. They think they are being objectified. As men are too in the above example But eveyone objectifies everyone else. YOu see a guy across the room, you might think "wow he;s attractive" or "he's hot" or "wow I'd love to do it with him". Either way, you have just objectified him. YOu might be speaking to a guy, say over the phone or something. YOu tmight think "God his voice is sexy" YOu just objectified him The first time a person meet anyone, they objectify by thinking "Handsome", "Ugly", etc. A straight guy meets another straight guy for the first time who's face might all be twisted and if deemed offensive in some small way, they have objectified "So I guess that means the next time a man exposes himself indecently to me, I shouldn't object? Well no. OF course if the guy looks unattractive I guess you are free to do so. Even so, just the mere fact that he did it means your attractiveness compelled him to do so. If a female did that to me I would be flattered and it boosts my esteem immensly. How many guys do you know that would not welcome a "flasing" from a female. Likely none. Except maybe a priest or something. But we know deep down they really like it. Otherwise I must not be as straight as I say I am? Oh right, it's only if he's ugly that I should object? What, if he's good looking, I should be grateful for a glance at his dangly bits?" Not grateful but at leat feeling flattered maybe. PeteJ

Who would be interested in this anyway?" Those of us who are interested in having the characters body behave a close to real as POser will allow in animations. The tutorial is how to make the skin react to preassure from gravity or other objects. Its not a big tit thing. PeteJ
