I get a lot of this, but did not investigate. I put it down to 'cross-talk', i.e. the morph in the clothing being controlled by the same morph (at body level) in V4's figure, and the clothing dial therefore having no effect.
I'd be interested in responses to this from those more in the know than I am.

Yes, in Poser you can add links to many Runtimes. Just go up to the top level in the Libraries palette, click the + sign at the bottom, and find your new Runtime folder (the one that was created when the products were installed). The name of the new Library in Poser will be the name of the PARENT folder of the new Runtime.
For example, I have folders called Main Library, V4.1 Library, V4.2 Library, A3 Library, etc, and each of those folders contains a separate Runtime.
I'm a bit lost as to why it won't open your files, I'm afraid, sorry.

A thought....
If you are installing both V4.1 and V4.2 because you intend to use both of them at different times, my gut feeling would be to put them in separate Runtimes, just to make sure they are completely independent of each other. That is what I did, but not based on any particular reason, just to be tidy and safe.

Aha! That seems to do exactly what I was thinking should be possible - I just asked the wrong question. Thanks for the pointer, DR.Â

Another thing - after installing V4.2 into your runtime, did you run the V4.2 update utility that comes with it? I believe you must do this after installing the Morphs++ package. I'm not sure exactly what it does, though. Just a thought in case things still are not working for you.

Most characters (that I know of) have separate morph INJ poses for body and face, and another one for the skin. Did you apply the one for the face morphs?
Try re-loading V4.2, applying the Morphs++, then applying the face/body morphs. It should not make any difference which order you do it in, but the ReadMe files for many characters always say do it in this order.

Attached Link: texture filtering
Here is a link to a bagginsbill response to a slightly different problem, but it tells you somehting about texture filtering, when to use it and when not...."If I were a shadow, I know I wouldn't like to be half of

Did you try turning off texture filtering ofr the material? That often does weird things like this.

I have a sort of related question, if you don't mind me asking here?
If the clothes share the same mesh as the figure they are supposed to conform to, is it not possible to just inject (or edit in) the same morphs that the parent figure uses for a specific character? Then crosstalk should do the rest - Yes? No?
(I'm a real newbie - I don't even know what 'rigging' means!)

Thanks for the explanation about number of raytraces, bb.
I just finished your tutorial about reflection and refraction - followed it right through with no problems, apart from the initial setup of the skydome, which was down to me not reading properly (now don't laugh - I had it casting shadows). Good stuff, thank you!
I have not had time to try bumpmap on the floor. I'll have a quick render before bed. I can hear my teddy calling me now, but he'll have to wait a bit.
