Got the same message when trying to purchase a beetle over at DAZ. So I got a bit worried and decided tp ^hone the card company. After half an hour of stupid "music" I finally got someone on the phone and there seems to be a problem with their server.
So no problem here, and I can try again tomorrow.
What a relief!

Thread: But is it art? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
No, it isn't.
Why should it be "art", whatever that may be? Because you could then call yourself an artist and feel important?
You're important because you were born, are alive and breathe. But not more than anyone else.
Time to start having fun instead of asking stupid questions.

Thread: Latest DAZ news big discounts? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have what I wanted, and there's nothing in that sale that attracts me. Besides: the argument: buy a lot so things stay cheap tells nothing about the quality. And what I do would like to have isn't discounted. Yet. But it may come, so I'll wait...

Thread: What happens to WinZip when demo period expires? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You should simply buy it as "demo" means that you may try it for a limited time. Much noise is made here when some vendor finds his/her work being on another site by someone else. people lose their membership because they use some pixels that were created by someone else. Everyone here agrees this is the way to go. And you do the same. You use a demo long after it expired. So either buy it, or buy another app (or XP) that can do the same.

...which is why, if you can afford it, it is a good idea to get a real cheap computer for the internet alone. For once, prefereably a brand one with a start up cdrom (I have a compaq with a celeron 500 and 128MBRam, 150Euro). Install a good anti virus that is updated daily, adaware and spybotSD. And install your applications on your "real" puter that is not connected to the Internet. In case you get cd's, sticks or floppy's (granddad, what's a floppy?) from someone else, enter them in the internet puter and get them scanned first. Serious problem? Enter the startup disk, reinstall and that's it.

Thread: Winzip v. Winrar | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Imo it's best to unzip to a folder that is especially for that item. If possible name it. Like Re098_V3SP_merchant_item. Believe me, I once bought an item here at R. that came with a file name like D1273X45T.zip . Then rename the library items you may rename into something recognisable. Most merchants are really exaggerating with !!! in front of a filename. And many don't even use the item's name in their folders names. Or, indeed, leave empty folders. Or hide templates with the obj or with the textures. Or use wrong folder names. etcetc... Better check everything and keep things well organised from the start. Having to sort out several gb of who'w who and what belongs where's is a real gumption trap.

As many people's inspiration is based on these movies (just look at how many knife-fingers you see in the gallery) this is not that much off topic. I like Dario Argento's movies and some lesser known ones like Malpertuis. Or the very stylish remake of Nosferatu, or Cat People.

Thread: Have People forgotten how to compress thier images? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
That's nonsense. The moment you choose to save as jpg, the algorithms already reduce filesize and discard valuable information. Degrading is there, whether you save at 100% quality jpg or 20%. The only difference is that at 20% it will be more visible. Jpg is lossy, meaning lost information can never (!!) be restored.

Thread: Have People forgotten how to compress thier images? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Compression is a tricky thing. An intricate pattern of the same size as a sky will have a much larger filesize at the same quality settings and the risk of artefacts is much higher. Many works nowadays are realyy veru-y detailed when it comes to textures. This makes compression much more difficult. Many people ask for larger images as they have now bigger monitors and ditto screen settings.(1024x1280, 1200x1600,...) To be honest: me too I prefer larger images as detail is better visible. But I can well understand your frustration. Some people exaggerate. Images more that 1000pixels wide and 427kB are not downloadable for everyone.

And do you know what's in that folder? Every item? Every option? Do you use it? Didi you try it all out? Just questions...mine is some 5GB and I can't remember what I have. I made a kind of site with a page for each item...

Thread: MUST HAVE ADD=ONS | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
http://www.e-frontier.com/article/archive/318/ indeed, lots of great tutorials. add to these Geeps and you get a good idea of what poser is, and can. But indeed: grab what's free. Here, at runtimedna, at daz3d... And buy what inspires you. But beware: it often becomes an addiction. And once you're hooked, there's a very cold turkey waiting if you want to kick off...

RHaseltine: by a local concentration of psi-gluons, the concentration threshold of orgone, typical for living creatures, is exceeded, and this causes the water molecules to rise up in the tube due to antigravity. If you know, then it's easy, you know. ;)

Thread: Again with the DAZ intaller | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I download each item to its own folder. Say, D005_V3_WailingWilma. I run daz exe for each item to its own little runtime. These I give clear names, numbered in the order I bought, and then save to a cd. Same for Renderosity and the others.
example:
D005_V3_WailingWilma>Runtime (this is what daz exe creates)
Then I eliminate the readme that doesn't say anything. If it does, it goes to a folder with readmes. And I eliminate that webcontent folder.
A readme that I want to keep has its same name convention:
Readmes>D005_V3_WailingWilma
Same for the images or the page of what I bought or downloaded.
The folders inside the library are renamed also. I prefer (having Poser5) for example to place a subfolder called MFD_RoyalElfinto a V3_Clothes folder to the Daz' choice of Daz Morphing Clothes original, in which each merchant just throws her/his own scribblings. (this is also true for Rosity here, and the others.
I know, a lot of work, but you only have to do it once.
Downloaded something new? Just add it. Not that much work anymore.
D means Daz, Re means Renderosity, Ra means RuntimeDNA, Pp means Poserpros etc etc...

May be ok for some special people, but not directly for me. Not that you didn't do a good job, far from that. But, apart from the "realism" I am not looking for, I don't buy merchant resource stuff. I even find that it should be taken out of the store. my idea.
