I've just bought a DVD-RAM drive that stores 9.2 Gigs, re-writable up to 100,000 times (more than enough, I suspect). They are actually not that expensive- $500. I know that may be alot for some people but I do a serious amount of imaging work, all the free Poser and other great Free stuff creates an enormous storage problem, especially if you unzip it and make a few renders... The biggest problem for me, which has taken over a year, was developing a system for logically sorting out the various items in a way you can still find and use them... I can tell you this- the WORLD AWAITS the person or company that can produce a really good software program to do this effectively. 3D Explorer and Yarp's Poser Explorer are a big help, but I think somebody could really make this a MAJOR APPLICATION in itself- a 3D Model Management program...

You don't need to buy Quicktime, just download it. You can view QT VR without the "Pro" version, but may need to buy the pro version to make your own QT VR animations. But wait until Vue 4 comes out because they may include some of it in their new release, I suspect...Thread: How the other half does it. | Forum: Vue
Yes, been meaning to join Mesh factory too. Like Mike says, never enough time for all of it. I am worried that software like Vue is going to get so great, and that mass quantities of excellent models will become so widely available that it will drive people crazy. I've already reached that point and still can't stop buying new models I like. It's a terrible addiction! I NEED HELP!...

Thread: Glock 17 pistol heading for Freestuff - comments? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Actually, it looks EXACTLY like a real Glock. You may be thinking of the Colt 1911 or Beretta, which often has a fancy inlaid hand grip. There are many variations of those guns, but the Glock has a look that is captured perfectly here by GPS. Fine work...

I can't get excited about either the $9,500 models OR the $49.95 models. This is a "SIM" stuff. NOTHING yet beats the De Espona models. They have details and resolution that are incredible. But those Imagination Works folks also make some good stuff... Wait until I find the $3000 submarine and ship movie-models website- still looking for it. The weather was IDEAL for the "Pearl Harbor" premiere. Maybe when people see THAT, it will give them some ideas about what can really be done with 3D classic aircraft...
Thread: Poser Scene Imported Into Vue 4... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Actually I think the E-On folks are working on it (full Poser animation in Vue) but not in this Vue 4 release. But I know that when Vue 3 was upgraded to Vue 3.1 it had significant improvements. We might just see a Vue 4.1 or something like that, with full Poser animation. There is SO MUCH NEW STUFF in Vue 4 that they had a lot of things on their plate just to get this incredible new release out... Personally I think Vue 4 should sell for $595 or $795. When you really look at all the new professional features and effects, Vue 4 is EXTREMELY UNDER-PRICED in my opinion...
Thread: TOP TEN UNANSWERED QUESTIONS ABOUT VUE 4... | Forum: Vue
If all the stuff that e-on shows on their website works as it appears, I think that this is an INCREDIBLE piece of software for a dirt-cheap price! I think even the really BIG software companies should be worried about this. In fact, I'm so worried that this software is so powerful, that I'm afraid some really big company is going to want to buy-out E-On... Personally, I'm in the process of buying a major new Dual Pentium running Windows 2K to run Vue 4. I'm sure all the people who find $199 EXPENSIVE and will whine about every little thing, well, TOO BAD. If you apply Vue 4 on a power platform, this is a major KICK-BUTT opportunity, I think. Jeez- Great COB, 3DS and OBJ Imports, Poser Imports, high-end effects people pay BIG BUCKS for in MAX and LW- THIS F**KIN ROCKS MAN!... Whiners- CLEAR THE STREETS, My Vue 4 Starship is being assembled as we speak. I want a 64MB Open GL Card too, unless I can get a good deal on a 128MB card. I'm going to MAX OUT this Vue 4 opportunity, as I can see TONS of exciting (and money making) things I can do with it...

Visit the E-On Website. They have all the pricing for various version upgrades. This new version, Vue 4, blows nearly everything previously out of the water. Click on the sample images and realise that this is a program that fully imports Poser, has stunning high-end 3D effects, and only costs $199 LIST. $129 if upgrading from Vue 3.1 to Vue 4... You will learn very little about how powerful the new Vue 4 is, even if you use Vue 3.1. The new Vue 4 version is a huge jump ahead in MANY ways. The beta-testers, some of whom are also Bryce users, are totally nuts about this new version...Thread: Vue 4 avi backdrops? | Forum: Vue
This is one of the things I've bugged the Vue folks about for about a year. If they impliment it correctly it's going to allow lots of creative new effects, including hopefully an animatible background by one means or another...

My advice- hit the bottle for a few days, then grab a south bound freight to Tijuana. Grow a long beard, live on the street for a few weeks, then hitch-hike home again. It will make you FEEL ALL NEW again...

Most 3D programs have their own native procedural textures that only work in their specific program. But I have taken LOTS of stuff out of Bryce, including unique-to-Bryce procedurals. They won't work or look EXACTLY the same, but I have had pretty good results myself- especially if you know how to re-tweak them inside VUE... To get all kinds of stuff out of Bryce, read Wolfie's excellent Bryce-Export tutorials... No, it's Wild Michael Cowpland, former founder and CEO of Corel. Got himself in some real hot-water and had to resign from Corel. Also look in Poser FREE STUFF and SEARCH for "Queen of Corel" and you will learn part of the reason... Too bad, because I would love to use the term "Corel Cowplanderers" or "Corelian Cowplandarians" to describe the "Corelian World" at Corel Corp. But since he's left, Corelia has calmed down somewhat. Question now is, is the "juice" still in the Bryce 5 programmers, or, are they just "going through the motions" for a "few dollars more"? (That means, grabs some upgrade bucks among the Brycer Die-Hards, but not REALLY deliver the GOODS...) I think- VUE 4 has stolen their thunder (and lighting)...
