It looks like the python script sets up an underwater atmosphere, which unfortunately is not what I am trying to do. What I am trying to do is fix the depth cuing so that it does not fall off sharply but rather extends indefinitely. This script does set this up, but also does a lot of other things and it is not immediately clear at all which are related specifically to the depth cue fall off and which are related to the scene being under water.Apparently the zip also contains a python script that automates what you are trying to do. I haven't looked at it or the contents of the zip yet. Who knows if the python will work in the version of Poser you are using.

Thank you very much, I was able to grab the file.Apparently the zip also contains a python script that automates what you are trying to do. I haven't looked at it or the contents of the zip yet. Who knows if the python will work in the version of Poser you are using.

Read this whole thread and it's never explained how to correct for asymptotic falloff. Has there been shared a simple node set-up just to fix the atmospheric depth cuing?ÂNow I do the math. As before, the transmission is 50% at 80 feet. But, with the correct asymptotic falloff, the transmission is 25% at 160 feet, not 0. At 250 feet (where the second sub conning tower is) the transmission is about 11.5%. At the tail of the second sub, about 360 feet away, the transmission is about 4.4%. The transmission *never* goes to 0.

moogal posted at 4:33 PM Mon, 10 October 2022 - #4446320I'm not talking about new features, but rather things that have just never worked the way people would prefer that they did... Like having to re-type an item's name every time you save it to the library, or that scenes saved through the file I/O don't have thumbs created/updated, or that changing the viewport camera doesn't change the selected camera. Stuff like that.I recall nearly two pages of small things that needed improvement from the RDNA forums. But none were the kind of bullet points that move copies, and to my knowledge not a single one has been addressed in the last two full version releases. (Why do those lists always seem to disappear from official forums?)There is a forum here for suggestions for new features for Poser and it does get looked at. When it first came out I thought it was like all those other threads where everyone makes suggestions and they get ignored. But I have seen several of these implemented. Not all. Listing it there isn't a guarantee, some things aren't possible, and some things may need more time for implementation.

I just have too many things I started in Poser to abandon it entirely. But if I were comparing it to other options today I don't think it would be in the running for the most compelling option. (Nor would D|S which IMHO is essentially just Poser with different quirks.)Nevertrumper posted at 6:22 AM Sat, 17 September 2022 - #4444643
😂😂 that is a good one. "Subtle improvements", I like that one.In fact, each time someone comes up with such comments, I'm feeling so stupid because I still don't get why those people are still loosing time in Poser's world (including its dedicated threads) if Blender is so better than everything.
Don't forget to mention, that they've charged you with subtle 250 $ for it, including some kind of a cycles render engine, that comes free with Blender.
Being framed with the past two Poser releases never felt better.Would you, by any chance, have the energy and time to enlighten me, so that I too can acquire certain knowledge that seems to border on the sacred?

There was not a single thing in v12 that tempted me to upgrade, other than wanting to support development. I thought it was ironic that one of the promotions included a copy of version 11 acknowledging that updating python was (again) going to break a lot of scripts people had come to depend on.Yes, we do. Maybe 12.1 or 13 in the future.
But since this is the last version upgrade, I think there should be an announcement about the future.
POSER has not had any novel new features for a while.
At this rate, I can't help but feel that POSER will be left behind by other CG applications.
I don't mean to compare it to DAZ, but I think long-time users will be worried if they can't see what's ahead.

Thank you so much, the UI dot did bring it back!
Lucky that the dot widget had "UI" selected instead of "Pose" or "Camera" which I use much more frequently. Come to think of it, I don't remember even setting those dots...
Thread: Geometry not being saved with custom figures | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical
Thank you. Yes, I didn't expect a new geometry when saving with "use original", I just thought that reloading that figure and then changing back to create new geometry would in fact create new geometry as it indicates that it would.Using the original geometry option will always link to the original geometry and never creates a new OBJ.
If you rename a character and don't change the geometry at all Poser will not create a new OBJ. You can force it to make a new OBJ by taking the figure into the setup room. You don't need to actually change anything just visit the setup room with the figure.

Also, any idea which of these installers she is in?
LegacyContent_Poser-Figures.zip 936.1 MB
LegacyContent_Poser-Nudes.zip 2 GB
PoserPremiumContent_Figures.zip 567.6 MB
I don't really feel like downloading 3.5 GB of installers I probably won't even be able to get to work.

Thread: Fitting room clothing conforming issue | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

It's easy to use the fitting room to a non-zeroed figure as an interim step. But the final rigging has to be to the zeroed figure, unless you want to have to pose the resulting cr2 every time to match. You simply have to leave a thigh gap, and I recommend doing all the adjusting with the morph brush. Maybe you can reduce the thigh of the garment just enough along the X axis, and if necessary morph brush the inner thigh back out after rigging the garment. I've done that. I almost never run the fit sim in the fitting room. Also, it is best to rig to the base version of the figure and then copy the character morph from your figure.
It boggles my mind that whoever developed the fitting room didn't anticipate this. Or if they did, why they didn't spend another half hour providing a proper work around.

Making the clothing item a prop was my idea, and oddly enough might be the solution to my problem also. I am already able to get the prop fitted. So the next step I believe would be to make a new prop from the fitted item and then fit that to the zeroed figure using as few fitting iterations as it will allow.
Thread: Fitting room clothing conforming issue | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I thought maybe I could do something in the fitting room, but I don't see a solution there either. I can adjust the clothing after conforming to fit, but not being able to zero the dials to the default t-pose still bugs me.

It looks like Dark Jeans are from James. They're included in the legacy content.
Indeed they are. Thank you, I finally found them!
