I believe the solarization is in the preview only. It should still render OK.
This product doesn't seem to like working on more than one V4 at a time. That is, once it has been applied to one V4, it doesn't seem to see others in the scene and applies it again to the first one. My workaround is to start with one V4 in the scene, apply the shader, then duplicate her and apply character morphs, hair etc. to create the second character.
Like many python-based tools, it doesn't seem to work in PP2012. Haven't heard if it is being updated.
Thread: PoseMorphLoader/Autofit Looking for smoke test help at this weekend | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Will this work on the Mac version of PP2012? In 64-bit mode? I haven't been following this religiously so I'm not sure if this is tKinter or wx python. The former doesn't work in Mac 64, as SM has informed us in a line buried in the PP2012 readme.. Netherworks has recompiled his commercial products with wx python to avoid the whole tKinter mess.
Thread: Conforming shoes....again. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Laurie, I applaud you for trying to get it right. Feet seem to present a problem for some authors when it comes to conforming. I have run across a couple vendors who gave it up as too much trouble to solve and instead included a .pp2 to make V4's feet and toes invisible.
I especially admire vendors who not only get the conforming thing right, but also include both shoes or boots as body parts in one .CR2, rather than a separate .CR2 for each shoe.
Thread: Poser 2012 - Please locate "NO_MAP" | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I experienced this problem as well. PP2012 objected to all my customized figures with the NO_MAP complaint. Now every CR2 has scores of NO_MAP instances, but PP2012 doesn't like the ones with quotes around them or at the end of them. PP2010 had no problem with this.
Before I saw the solutions above, I went through my MAT files with a text editor and changed every instance of NO_MAP with quotes into NO_MAP without quotes. There were a couple variations, with spaces in different places and varying numbers of quote marks. You need to find them and copy/past into your Replace field to make sure you get it exactly right.
Then I used the cleaned-up MAT files to re-apply the MATs to my characters so Poser wouldn't put up that annoying message every time a figure enters a scene. The solution above about the empty NO_MAP file seems easier.
Better still would be if SM would fix the bug in the service release. I call it a bug because out of the last several Poser versions, I didn't experience it until P9 / 2012. Every figure in my library (except the out-of-the-box default V4) generated the error.
Thread: Removing morphs | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Pocket Knife by PhilC lets you remove morphs from the Body and all body parts using a checklist. It also does a lot of other cool utility stuff. It's python-based, but he has updated it to work in Poser 9 / Pro 2012.
If you do a Google search for "PhilC Pocket Knife" you'll find his web site.
Thread: Is Victoria 5 poser compatible? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Someone was (briefly) selling a utility to inject V4 morphs into Genesis, then pulled it from Rendo to work on it some more. I'm not sure if this helps it to work in Poser, or if it just allows you to use V4 morphs in Genesis within DS4.
I'm excited about this product to shape Genesis so my V4 clothing will fit. I also like the solutions to V4's joint / bending problems that Genesis offers. But until it can work in Poser I will just have to wait.
Thread: "sweaty skin" for Victoria 4? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't use Daz Studio, but in Poser the quick and dirty method iin the Material Room is to make the Highlight a lighter shade than black, say 50% gray or even white (or some color if you want the gleam to have a hue). Then set the highlight amount to something quite small, say 2-3%, so you have a narrow gleam reflecting the light instead of a broad, diffuse highlight. There is also at least one shader for sale that simulates water droplets on th skin rather than just a moist sheen.
I apologize in advance if DS doesn't have this capability, or something equivalent to it. I'm not familiar with the program. You did ask the question in a Poser forum, so that's my solution.

Quote - (Also, Aery Soul has changed their name to Alfa Seed, and mostly sell at RDNA now ;) )
Thanks, I did see Alfa Seed at RDNA and it was obvious it was connected to the old Aery Soul (the style of products, use of Alice as the model). But it seems to be only new products. The old Aery Soul catalog (which included lots of cool free stuff) is gone. Maybe there is some legal reason they can't offer those any more, or perhaps they chose to start fresh and build a new catalog. I wonder if there will be any Alice updates at Alfa Seed.
Thread: Seek tips on working with multiple figures | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I'm on a PC, but when I need multiple morphed, clothed and posed figures in a scene, I simply create a separate pz3 for each character, then merge them together for the final render with File>Import>Poser scene.
These are all good tips, some of them I already use. I rarely use hardware shading or shadows because it really slows down the responsiveness. I'll turn it on just to set the lighting then turn it off again. I wish there was a quicker way to do it than going into Render Settings, switching to the Preview tab, checking and unchecking boxes, saving settings.
I like the idea of merging pz3 files. It always seemed to be clunky in theory, because you need to tweak the positioning after merging, but it's better than having the scene full of figures during the whole process.
Another idea I've been playing with... As each figure is posed and morphed to a final state, I convert that figure to a prop (after saving the clothed figure temporarily to the library for recall). This seems to speed up the scene considerably, I'm gessing because hundreds of morphs are gone. The drawback is obvious: All I can then do is move the prop. Expressions, arm and leg movements, etc. are all impossible. Plus I have to remember to keep weeding out the library of figures stored temporarily. But I have a folder just for that. A drastic measure, but it's a way to get a bunch of figures in a scene.
I'm envious of those who say they can put 7-8-9 clothed figures in a scene without performance issues.
Thread: help with creating a seated crowd for basket ball stadium / base ball game crowd | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I might be inclined to postwork the crowd in.
That is, make your baseball stadium / basketball arena foreground with nothing in the background, render as PNG so it will have a transparent background.
Then find a non-copyrighted seated crowd scene on the Net. If it's only for your own enjoyment and not for sale or distribution, it doesn't matter if it's copyrighted or not. Better yet, shoot your own crowd scene at a local game. Apply Photoshop filters or actions so that it looks similar in style to your render. And drop it behind your rendered foreground.
Just one idea.

I betcha lots of folks who are Prime members here are also Platinum Club members there. Daz sells lots of good stuff for Poser. Rendo vendors are starting to sell products compatible with Genesis. A lot of us Poser users shop at both markets. It would be a poorer 3D world if either marketplace were to go away. I'm still mourning Aery Soul.
Thread: DAZ Studio 4 = CR2 Exporter to Poser 9 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A couple of years ago a Daz3D sales rep told me that a majority of their 3rd-party sales are actually to Poser users. I don't know if this is still true. More and more of their products are geared for Genesis only, but a few have been offered for both Genesis and V4, and there are still plenty of V4 / M4 products coming out the door at Daz3D.
I dob't think they want to alienate the Poser market and the developers who make products for it. Reaching out to Poserdom is in Daz's own interest. I doubt they could survive without radically downsizing their business model if they stopped selling and supporting Poser-compatible goods.
Thread: Seek tips on working with multiple figures | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
All right, I'll do that. Meanwhile, I'd still like to know how folks are slimming down their multi-figure scenes to tax the system less.
For example, I remember somebody posted once that he/she used a script to delete all unused morphs from a scene once things have been morphed to satisfaction. Not sure what it was called, or if it can be used in the new Posers.
Thread: Victoria 5 coming soon?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I am all for the innovations and benefits that Genesis reportedly offers. And when they work quickly and intuitively in Poser without the necessity of another 3D app for exporting, I will take a good long look at them. That's my choice. It doesn't make me wrong or right. Time will tell if D4 / Genesis is the Betmax or if Poser / V4 is.
It's worth noting that the Betamax was the upstart product that had great ideas but couldn't gain enough market share. If Genesis were to collapse for that reason (and I don't think it will) its innovative features would be incorporated into Poser eventually. Some of them already were, even though D4 / Genesis were pushed out the door faster.
Meanwhile, I'm not worried about my V4 investment going down the tubes. If all V4 content were to disappear from the market tomorrow, I would be happy for years with the stuff in my runtimes I haven't even gotten around to yet. It would almost be a relief, in a way, if I wasn't incessantly tempted by nice new V4 products. :)

Quote - As far as auto-morph movement (dial matching) it can rather easily be Python-driven. In fact the entire Deformer/Auto Fit scenario could be Python-driven. So, the tools are already there just not tapped into.
Now if only some developer of python-based Poser tools would do it! (hint hint)
