It depends on so much...how realistic do you want the texture to be/ how large are you intending to work/ how close will you focus on, say, a head, or a hand? On the other hand: what do you consider to be a beautiful/ characteristic face/body? You want a pale skin, make up, a brown skin? You want a nordic face, a catwalk model, a girl next door? Imo, you need to acquire several textures and characters to come close to what you want yourself. And then, you will have to tweak a bit: a mouth, size of the head (i always set between 103 and 106%, also for the hair), etc... I hate it to mention names, but some things stand out: -EvolutionEve comes with skin patches that give a more realistic look on stretched joints -MissApril comes with a wet skin that is very useful -Trisha's face is close to what I consider idealized beauty, but Kimimela has a lot of character. -one of Vali's textures comes with a gloss map that is very useful, also on other characters. -Jacqueline (SubTigee) is great for faeries, while Savannah is a darker-skinned beauty... etc etc etc Then there are the personal preferences. Me, for example, I sometimes have decided not to buy because of the bikini marks on the skin. Some other people may prefer this. Also, I often remove most of the typical marks on the skin (blemishes, coloured spots, mosquito bites,...). I also refrain from too much realism as the pores are usually too large which makes it come close to a very rough skin, or even a skin disease. But other people have other opinions, and they are as much right as I am. It's a question of personal preferences. I love Vali's girls, but they are such a rage at the moment that they become too recogniseable.

Thread: organizing Pose folder, and inj/rem problem. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the replies. I didn't know the head and body morphpacks had been updated. I will download them, and then try again. It is indeed with the allmorphs.inj files that I have this problem. Good deduction!

I'll go even further: I only bought Poser because DAZ' products were available for it. I never tried the Studio alpha that has been made available a few months ago, but if it become a reasonable stable beta with a rather well defined path to follow, I might try it. But, imo, P5 with sp4.1 and without the CL stuff that comes with it, and without the ContentRoom is far from bad. If a company wants to contact some talented people who produce quality add-ons for its products, I can see nothing wrong in that. And if those artists decide to work with that company, exclusively or not, then that is their business. If you don't want to buy, then don't. And if you get something for free, say thank you, but don't ask for more.

copy the link adress, open a new page in your browser, paste and off you go. This usually does the job.

Thread: MOR Files Problem | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I am not a very experienced Poser-user yet, but from my experience I can say that it is always best to re-install everything inside PG's main folder. Personally, I started with P5 default with SP4.1 without the content room. I set Poser to open with no character on the scene and deleted everything from the runtime folder that I wasn't going to use. In my case, only Don was kept. Then I installed the meshes I bought at Daz and installed the various characters etc I bought here. I know it is a lot of work, but imo the only way to be shure everything is ok. Second best solution is to grab your P4 runtime folder in explorer and copy it to your P5 folder.

So am I. I suppose I installed SR4 over SR4, and I had to rearrange the gui and see how P5 neede its code checked on the Internet once again... curious indeed... If they go on like this, no-one will install anything anymore as we will all be waiting for someone else to take the risk.

so does mine...323, not 325... and at CL they say that: "Poser 5 SR4.1 will update your Poser to version 5.0.4.325" There is no mentioning of 4.1, only 4. they also removed the anti-piracy control, but once again, mine wants to go on the Internet... ???

Thread: POSER 5??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You may also want to download the manual for Poser5. It's got a very good intro on what 3D on puters means. Poser is mainly used for organic forms, mostly human. You can use morphs to change the body appearance, you can give it a pose, you can texturize it, create a light setup you prefer etc etc. It ranges from as good as photorealistic over cartoon to sci-fi and fantasy. Probablt the best known character in the Poserworld is "Vicky", a mesh created by Daz3D. But Poser itself already comes with many characters, most of which are more cartoonish than realistic, except for Poser5. But Poser5 offers more options and you definately need a fast puter with lots of ram to use it comfortably.

Thread: Converting M2 textures to M3 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Mike3, Vicky3 and Stephanie petite are based on the same mesh so normally you can use V3 maps on M3 (like V2 on the Milkids and M2 on Stephanie1). I haven't got M3, but afaik, it should work.

Thread: SR-4 Hickey: Asking for obj when adding character to scene | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I had something similar yesterday: up to now Poser5 had no problem loadingV3's morphs, but now suddenly I had to point to them one by one, even though the files were all in the correct folders. When I tried to stop this, it simply went on, one by one asking me where the newt morph file was. I had to quit Poser by force. Never had this before. I restarted, and the problem was still there, while SP's morphs loaded without any problem. Bizarre...
