will this be a figure that can be used in older, legacy versions of Studio and Poser? Is it compatable with any existing wardrobes of other models?
Thread: runing two compuiters? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
You can open LuxRender on one system and tell it to connect to another system running luxrender and have both systems rendering provided they both have enough RAM to render the image as if they were rendering it alone.
if you own the system you can install Lux or Studio or Reality on it and you can install multiple versions on the same machines, the license allows this.

One of these days you're going to have to show me how to do that!
anyway thank you so much I'm going to repost these for the community.

As Apple sales for portable iOS devices are far greater than OSX devices expect OSX to adapt itself closer to iOS functionality. I've supported systems from Apple back when Ben was still Obi Wan and the past 3 generations of OS's are clearly headed in the iOS intergration direction.
If your going over to Mac on the one hand you can run windows but depending on when you got your Mac and what OS X your running it's going to affect what version of Windows you actually can install. You can NOT downgrade macs without hacking them and voiding your warranty. So if you buy a Mac today with OS 10.8.2 you can't down it to 10.8.1 or ANYTHING lower and your options for windows running native are Windows 7 or Windows 8. That functionality is grandfathered however, if you had a system running 10.6 and installed XP and you install 10.7 you can keep your XP and run it native. You can run older verisons of windows throught virtulization which is going to be slower and by using 3rd party software but macs out of the box running windows, there a catch.
and you guys thought MS was big brother?

windows 8.1 will allow boot to desktop OS instead of the xbox/fisher price interface is the IT rumor of the moment.

sorry, the obj's are included in the DL link.
my bad for not mentioning that in the first place.
The OBJ's were modeled around the V4 foot geometires but my Blender skills are very noob.

thanks Keppel, I'm still working out how arrays work and still not comforable with them. I thought I had removed doubles but I'm still working out the kinks as and could have probably done the stitching with a displacment map but that means I have to learn how to UV map with Blender. So much to learn.
Thread: What do I clean this up with (bezier curve to flip-flip sole disaster) | Forum: Blender
The method to my madness is
Sole:
box
sub devide box about 5 or 6 times
model the rough shape of the sole
subsurf to 1
smooth shading.
Straps:
all the above and then apply to a curve, which I'm still painstakingly learning
array a fixed number, curve modifier.
export to Daz Studio 4, see all the normals that I hosed, go back into Blender and try and fix.
Modeling with the curve did not work when it came to the surfaces, but it was great for getting the shape in fewer clicks. I don't know what happened with the first set of polys but the sandals were tanking my Dual Xeon 2.4 with 8GB RAM at work. Granted it's a Mac, on further inspection I saw I had layers of invisible polgyons hidden under other objects. SO DO I JUST CUT THESE OUT AND LEAVE THEM OR DO I CUT THEM OUT AND CLOSE THE FACES EVEN IF THEY'RE NOT GOING TO BE SEEN?
these should hit rendo today, either the fixed version or the ones that have more polys than a pixar character.

the next batch are still being worked out, almost ready for frebies. I just wish I didn't wait so long to go back and try to learn Blender.
Thread: What do I clean this up with (bezier curve to flip-flip sole disaster) | Forum: Blender
I went in over my head, and I posted a freebie but the poly count was insane. I went back to the drawing board and did it all in box modeling and kept my poly count down and should have something by morning, though not a flop flop.
thanks for the help everyone.

doing a closeup, photoreal, holes required, otherwise I'd use someone elses model.
@touchwood, never used shrinkwrap, I'm still noobing with blender on and off my not retaining everything I learn until I do it like 50 x.
ok, I went a tried shrinkwrap, it's picking up some bad geometry from the holes I cut and I noticed so I may start over with that part.
Thread: Spin function n Blender 2.64a | Forum: Blender
Noticed the view in wich you spin affects the spin was well, spin 360° in top view is not spin 360° in side view.

I still use all the above methods described in preivous posts for different needs, here's one other, though it limits the figure to a non-rigged (no longer posable but scalable and movable) statue with or without textures:
• Create a figure, pose it, fit it with clothing, hair, etc.
• Hide every part of the figure not visuuble to the vieiwer in the content pane window (e.g. legs under pants, feet in shoes, ect.)
• export the model as an obj, collect the textures, hide invisibles
Optional: do all the above and then export the texures with texture atlas to condense them into a single image for the entire model and everything on it.'http://www.daz3d.com/texture-atlas-for-daz-studio
Optional: use the 32 and 64 bit version of the app, keep both open, set up in one and export out to the live scene as needed.
For crowds I would just do the whole scene, then export to obj, then depending on texure needs I would either texture altas the scene or drop them down to gray for a distance shot if it's dark out (e.g. zombies)

Quote - klown the fourth would be a uvmapper program, but most modelers have one if you learn to use it.
Ok, I sorta use UVMapper Classic, the free one, it's good but it does not have an undo or some other key features. I have not tried the UVMapper in Blender, I'm still wraping my head around modeling.
